Bassman59's 1st Grow - DWC/LED - Pray For Me!

Hi Bassman -

You are rockin' this grow. Those things look so freaking happy with your set-up. Nicely done! They still stretching like crazy?

I like Twelve12's idea about defoliating some of your crop. I used to defoliate lightly if at all, but this grow I'm defoliating more heavily (for me) - I pulled off most of the large fans. I like that it should help with mold risks, too, as I have things pretty crowded. Seems like could be a good way for you to judge for yourself. Don't worry about doing it too much, I plucked at 20 days, and just filled a 5 gallon bucket a couple of days ago (41 days I think). They don't seem to mind at all so far, and it does definitely get more light to the lower parts of the canopy.

Anyway, great job so far!

Thanks a bunch X,

I have been taking leaves this week. Took a bunch this morning. It's still pretty bushy in there, but the tallest one certainly looks thinned some. I've focused on big fans and spots where more than 1 of a smaller fan is hiding a bud site. If I understand things correctly, 1 fan covering a bud may not be a big deal because light is supposed to penetrate the leaves too. But I al taking large ones for sure.

I also have been trimming the small legs of leaves near the very bottom that have weak growth. You know, the newer type branches with maybe 3-6 small withery type newer growth (and weak old) leaves. It seems to make sense to not expel energy on those and their uptake to help the rest of the plant seems like it would be nearly meaningless if that makes sense.

Today is day 21 in flower. There was still plenty of stretch when I looked this morning. The tallest is 29". That's 10" of growth in 7 days.

I wont be doing a res change tomorrow, my normal day, as I have things going on sat-sun. Probably Monday, at which point I'll do a weekly update. I've added 4 gals this week, roughly 1/3rd of capacity, and could add another gal today but will more than likely add 2 gals tomorrow night instead.

WEEKLY UPDATE:

Day 22 Flower

Well as it turns out my plans got postponed this weekend. So Saturday res change day!

I did 75% AN Sensi Bloom A & B, B52, Humboldt Ginormous, and full dose calmg+. No hygrozyme this week as I'm getting low on it and the clones will need it more with the somewhat higher res temps.

ppm: 1230
ph: 6.0

The tallest plant is now 30". Unbelievable it seems, since it is two weeks of veg time less than the oldest plant. It also has the biggest bud sites presently. All the plants are developing but sites well. I'm a bit concerned about the runt of the family. It's just short as hell and not doing much. No biggie I guess. I probably won't pull even 1 zip from it but wth, it's more in the end.

I'll do a clones update after these pics

Clones day 8 of veg.

Well as you can see I've done some defoliating on the clones. I also fimmed a couple the past two days. They're growing pretty good under 4 cfl's. The 2 front, middle and right plants do not have actual feed tubes from the hub. I have to hand feed them. If I could find an 8 port hub it sure would take a load off.

I'm going to do a res change either later today or tomorrow.

Nutrient plan is 75% of schedule:
Advanced Nutrients Sensi Grow A & B, B52, Voodoo Juice, Calmg+, and Hygrozyme.

Geez Bassman,

great grow making me wanna buss out my old DWC and do that, was outdoors for a while and am gonna be doing a first grow soon but gonna use soil, got two GH hydrofarms, but just hesitant right now, wanna see how this advanced led 180w does first and see from there. congrats on your grow plus clones. awesome.:goodjob:

Kola,

Thanks a bunch for your support. In the clone tub is a pump with 1/8" dia tubes. Each tube is dialed down to just a small trickle and butted up against the root riot cube in each net pot to constantly feed the plants until the roots reach the water which is set to about 3" below the tubs. Once the roots are in the water the pump gets removed or just turned off and then I only use it to drain into 5 gal bucket on res clean/replenish day once per week.

I highly suggest a beginning to end read of Tulips DWC tutorial in the DWC sub forum. DWC tutorial

Nice setup. Subbed if I wasn't already lol. Everything lookn healthy.

TY Smitty!

lol, Had to add 1 gal today, just 24 hrs after res change. These plants are obsessive drinkers.

Tallest is now 31.75". Stretching hasn't stopped at day 23 of flower. I'm running out of height adjustment on the light. If I need to go more than about 3" higher I'll have to remove the clips & hooks and tie directly to roof cross members to gain another 5" or so of adjustment. Probably wont need to as stretch should stop any time now I guess.

I removed more fan leaves today that were hiding bud sites. Probably took 50+ out. The middle area of the 1st tub is still insanely crowded with bush. This tub has the 4 main cola oldest plant in top left, runt in middle bottom, and the 3 topper fimmed at top right. You really can't see the top of the tub if you look down from anywhere near the middle.

Changed the res on clones during half time today (Go Niners!). Upped the nutes to 75%.

PPM: 950
PH: 5.6

Here's 3 pics of the tall one today. Sorry last one isnt in good focus:

Mon. day 24 flower

added two gals today and 1 gal yesterday. Drinking up 3 gals in 2 days, these girls seem they like to get fat and sassy.

I can actually see trichs forming on the leaves of the above photo top bud. :bravo:

go baby go!

Mon day 24 flower:

Less than an hour before lights out, playing with camera that I know nothing about. Got a few smexy photos of young bud porn.

You are all over it! Great work and preety plants. I don't think I am going to DWC anytime soon. I presently need a more self sustaining system that I don't have to visit more than every 5 days. However I may have mentioned I made several crosses with one of the two males from my first 3 seeds of AK48 I popped. I gave some to several deserving seed testers who popped some of all 4 varieties. The White Widow by AK48 has created a most beautiful monster plant and I am gettin a clone sunday. Fast growth, looks sort of like your big plant but wider leaves. Of the 4 seeds this one really stands out, cant wait!

Sorry I'm subscribing late... I had to find a helmet! Grow looks awesome :welldone:

thank you CJ! Welcome to 420mag and welcome to my journal!

Enjoy the ride!
