Hello all! I'd like you all to meet Cleopatra Philopator Bagseed. Cleopatra means "Glory of the Father" and she very much has been. She started life as an experiment and has turned into something serious! The bag she came from was Schrom, and I'm told that it was probably a hermie seed, but only the creator knows!

So this first post will bring us up to present. She is just about to flip, tommorow or next day. Captions are below pics.

So here's Cleo on 9-14, just a lil sprout. At this time in her life, she was getting window sill peak sun for 3-4hours a day and the rest under a 26W CFL

Cleopatra9-28.jpg

Here she is on 9-28

cleopatra9-30.jpg

Shes a nasty bitch that loves some rope...9/30

Cleopatra10-14.jpg

This is her on 10/14.

Cleopatra10-18.jpg

And here she is tonight 10/18. I'm about to flip her but I'm not sure what her deal is latley.....

Roots52.jpg

Here's a shot of the roots tonight (10/18) I pulled it to check for Aphids...
NewGorwthTwist.jpg

Shes twisting her new growth. Now this is where I start to sweat. Some background: I brought root aphids into my effing garden. Im a dumbfuck I know, So I hit her hard with the Bayer Tree and Shrub right before i transplanted her into this 3gal. She's been great till right now. Actually shes been better than great, She EXPLODED! But I don't know what to do as I'm just about to flower. I don't want to have to use the Bayer again if I don't have to, but I will....Any advice?

Dimple1.jpg

This dimple next to the margin is questionable to me, I noticed the same thing on the OG after it got the root aphids....or maybe im just making shit up....anyone confirm this? If it was just this alone I'd prolly ignore it; but with the new growth twist, im buggin about bugs, although I haven't seen any this time and when she had them before, they were easy to spot.

HighRootBumps.jpg

This is another one I don't have a clue about. It dosen't seem malignant or anything but I'm trying to listen to her, I just don't know what she's saying...notice the 'root bumps'? This is more than halfway up the stalk. I'm thinking its because of the aggressive training but I just wana make sure nobody sees something else?? Please, I'm always looking for insight! Please let me know anything you see she might be telling me that I'm missing!

Did she answer you yet LOL. NAh i think the twist is from LST .and i think your bugging out too much.those plant look good if you had thrips the would leave little trails on your leaves ,and would be flying around.Just a thought . BC

Nice looking plants! Put some sticky traps out for flying insects if you are worried. I only know about aphids that seem to feed on the new growth...but only have seen them on my ornamental hanging plants outside.

I have been dealing with fungus gnats...hopefully after today I will not see them again!

Hey BC thanks for checking in on me! Thrips aren't my concern here....it's ROOT APHIDS.....the little bastards killed my OG mom in a few days....Check my other thread for a pic of her final moments. I have seen a few fungus gnats but they've never been in large numbers...i do have yellow stickies out for good measure.

And no she hasn't given me a final verdict....I flushed with clearex and some of the twist straightened but not fully...and some of the newer growth has tips pointing down, this was something i noticed on the OG too...except the downward point would go as far as halfway down the leaf as they got farther up the root, at least thats how i imagined it.....also the downward turn wasn't like 'the claw' in that it was a 'rounded turn' but almost like a straight bend at one point in the leaf, if im making sense...the Bayer is supposed to be systemic but she was small then and I can't imagine with all the growth that the toxin is still at high enough concentration to be effective. I hope your right though! Thanks bud!

Dusty- Thanks for taking a look brother, I welcome all opinions and comments!!

Yea i gots the fungus gnats too, but nothing really bad....I didn't do it to this on b/c i wanted to be able to see the coco for aphids but I have a thick (3"+) layer of perlite on top of the coco of my other plants...i ve heard that gnats don't go too deep and that if the first portion is perlite they're likely to give up.....it also keeps the 'water holes' from forming when i water....

They can also go thru the holes in the bottom of your pot. I drenched mine with neem oil today, poured some in the tray for them to soak the bottom roots as well,,,and a gnat came out trying to swim!! Glad I did that. Someone said to put pantyhose on the bottom of your pots to keep out critters. Have not worn those in yearsssss... thankfully, so will work on thinking up something else!

HI Dr. I had a OG kush once and found it to be nute sensitve leaves would curl after too much nutes.Good luck and keep us posted ...:smokin: BC

Yes she was finicky to be sure! I morn her loss but at the same time I'm really enjoying this one, Cleopatra is definitely more tolerable of a lot I think the OG would fuss about. This one is really helping me learn the indoor deal.

Hello all! Happy Halloween! Straight to some Cleo pics....I think I'm seeing the same Mg def as the last time...I flushed recently and im thinking I need to re-saturate the coco with a heavy dose...

I have Cfl's on the sides for these shade leaves, that are conveniently 90° to the ground

I love the symmetry of nature.

Nice, looks like nitrogen moving round the plant ,yellowing a bit .are you gonna prune them at all ? And roots love that coco eh ? BC

BC, yea she's looking for something, I had Mg problems right after I flipped on the last run. I read somewhere that coco needs to be saturated with Cal & Mg before it will let the roots have any. I flushed right before I flipped. Yesterday I gave a feeding with Pura Vida Bloom,a touch of Flora Nova Grow, Cal/Mg+, Hygrozyme, Liq Karma and floralicious Plus. I'm totally open to suggestions about feeding, and Pruning!
For the pruning I wasn't going to take a bunch, I'm waiting till she finishes her first big stretch(just about done, were on day 12 i think) to see where everythings at. I wasn't going to take much. But I have a question about it.. Do the big shade leaves, the ones that are first to appear at a node, supply the whole node with energy? in other words, does that one shade leaf share carbs with the entire stalk including flowers? I feel most confused about pruning cause I've heard so many different theories, but I feel that the more leaf present, the more of the lights energy can be absorbed, so I'd love to hear the theories your into and what you'd do to cleo!

Howdy Doc.I usually take all the lower branches off at the stem before i trip to 12/12.I also trim out a lot of the big leaves on bushy indica before bud cycle.i gives the plant time to adjust before the stressfull trip time .. Your gonna hear alot of different opinions, take with a grain of salt, common sense and what works for you will help you decide.pruning will get rid of the popcorn bud and promote huge main cola's.Some of my last plants i left four sets of nodes plants grew in nice big buds..Experiment a bit..:goodjob: BC

High Doc,

When I saw coco, I had to drop in :thumb:

I've had twisting leaves outdoors, and figured it was a molybdenum deficiency. I'm not sure if it would work in coco, but Miracle Grow MirAcid straightened things out. I think rose food may another source.

Cleo is a beauty :goodjob:

Thanks for checking me out horse!
I'm not sure what it was for me, I flushed and that seemed to make her happier but I've had concern over some of the micros as well. The Flora Nova I was using dosen't have many micros in their bloom formula so I'm now using the pura Vida bloom as it has less N and more Micros. I've got some purple on her that I was taking as maganese def, but I'm not sure as all the petioles grown after she reached maturity have it, and it's been cooler in the tent.

As funnystyle would probably say: MG eh?

So here's Cleo in action, Right now I have 3 CFL's around the bottom of her as in the pic. The LED just dosen't pack enough punch, even though it says "Penetrator" on it, it penetrates more like a 95 year old man sans Viagra...grr after what I paid, it should do me proper and light my cig for me after.

cleo11-1sidelight.jpg

cleo11-1budsites.jpg

So I'm tossing around the idea of acquiring a different light setup. At first i was thinking about getting some smaller hps lights (70 or 100W) and using them kinda like im using the CFL's now. I have about 200 doll hairs to spare on this adjustment right now so that def limits me. I'd love to hear some suggestions both those within my budget and out!

On the right is the Mango that I rooted as a teenager in coco after the aphid epidemic.

For 200w of LED, I'd say she looks very good :thumb:, node spaces are nice, good color.

I'd do a little LST and tie back the taller branches to open up the inner growth to the light. If the light won't penetrate the canopy, open up the canopy a bit. Bring the plant to the light.
