First Grow: Purple Kush

Today is day 5 after the flip.

Pistils are starting to grow longer and slightly more visible.

I'll throw up some photos in a bit.

I picked up a couple COB 150w LED to add to the flowering tent. I hung them 20inches above canopy for now to test the result and I will make adjustments if necessary.

I had to raise my main 1200w led back to 22 inches due to a couple inches growth over the past couple of days.

She hasnt really begun to flower yet, hopefully soon I'm starting to get nervous like maybe my timer isnt working properly and shes notngetting the 12 hours darkness(probably crazy, delusional thought).

Can anyone offer some tips on how to tell if flowering has started?

Does a plant sometimes not accept the 12/12 flip for a long time?

Anything I can do to speed the process along?

Thanks yall

Looking very healthy. My plants took over 1 week to definitively show pistils from 12/12 flip..then started to build rapidly...another couple days likely will reveal. I considered the first week of 12/12 to be veg...then counted days in flower from actual pistils reveal.

Cool, I was hoping it just might take a week or so based on what I've seen from other peoples grows. Heres to hoping the pop out some nice fragrant flowers soon!

Hey guys,

Not sure if its day 8 or 9 but I'm starting to wonder if theres something else I should be doing.

These are what should be becoming more apartent with each day , right?

I've noticed a slight color change from the center of each growth site. I'm not sure if this is a sign that shes switching over or of its just a lighting thing.

Confused I'm not seeing more prominent signs of flowering by now...

Oh she's in flower for sure! Those white pistils are her pre-flowers and a very welcome sight. The new growth coloration will be a thing you will see, sometimes darker tones, sometimes lighter, sometimes the bloom light hits the new growth and it goes "aaaah!" For a few days (like stepping outside of a dark house on a really sunny day). But you are in a great spot. Sometimes they take longer to transition, sometimes siblings from the same seed pack take longer to transition than the others, sometimes clones cut from the same donor "mother" take longer. We can push, prod and try to bend them to our will, but nature still works at her pace a little. If you think about it we're tricking plants that normally live for almost a year in the wild to produce bountifully over a reduced life cycle of 3-4 months!

Well said mate.
That just alleviated all my concerns haha

At this moment I've got one strain that shows female pistils less than a week from switching to 12/12 and another that's just now showing at almost a month. Factors at play could range from genetics to plant health, stress, etc. If she's recovering from stress she may be a little shocked and flowering stalled until said shock is resolved

This is starting to get very exciting!

I've been doing more training with my manifolded purple kush in the other tent but my light just went out! So I have to run to the hardware store and grab a cheap bulb to so shes not in darkness until I get my overnight Mars Hydro 600w!! Its too bad my light when out but atleast it gave me an excuse to buy a new one. I've heard great things about the mars hydro , cant wait to see it work.

Update:

Soo I guess I had maybe a timer malfunction this morning because the 600w in the small tent is on. Looks like I bought a nice new extra Mars Hydro 600w and I'll throw the existing LED in my flower tent.

Heres a couple shots of some training I'm doing with purple kush #2 at :

Also, on a side note...

Heres a lil baby American Haze that I accidentally fed the wrong food and fried her.

I took her out of the pot and rinsed her through warm water to clear out old soil and repotted her with some fresh soil and gave her fresh water.

Hopefully she bounces back

Your other plants look great. The last one, a flush is in order, like you said. She should bounce back, but will look fucked up for a while. The damaged leaves may never repair them selves, keep that in mind. Awesome on the new light! Crappy about the timer malfunction lol
