HPS Lights & Chinese LEDs

need help making a decision..... A $1600+ decision. i am a proud owner of 6x - 1000 watt hps lights but i wanted to give led a go. so i ordered 8x - 2000 watt led grow lights

i dont know what to do as the reviews are amazing but maybe they are paid reviews or some bs like that. i have 2 weeks to return them and just get a few more hps systems but i dont know what to do. can anyone tell me about these lights if they are good or would be good?

I don’t know anything about these lights other than they are “burple” which I don’t care for personally and most companies have switch to mostly white spectrum lights.

I have a hard time believing their PAR numbers though, the one at 6“ (150mm) is useless as you not Likely want your plants that close to the light and those numbers are at its strongest point dead center below the light, nothing tells you how bad the light falls off the edges.

If you really want to truly test LED compared to HPS, I would suggest staying away from cheap Chinese knockoff burple lights and try one of the Mars Hydro or Budget LED lights, both are sponsors here.

Always keep in mind, “you get what you pay for” and this goes doubly for LED grow lights.

yup i think i have to agree. im just thankful that i still have some time to get them returned. i have 8 of them over 48 blueberry og plants in a giant custom rdwc system and these plants look nothing like they did when i grew them before under 1000 watt hps grow lights. i took some pics just to show you all. i mean they are only day 14 since the 12 /12 light cycle switch. each of the clones / plants were around 8 inches when i put them in and right now 14 days later of 12/12 the smallest are around 8-10 inches and the tallest are around 12-14 inches. there was little to no stretch at all. they are very very bushy i had to prune out and clean up a little but there is just alot of very small buds and growth that just dont look natural to me especially since i grew these exact plants under hps before and they were vicious.

I assume you must have about a 10 foot by 12 foot space .
You could build four 4x4 lights 650 watts each that would easily replace 1000 w HPS and those 4 lights should cover a 10x12 area.
Probably around $2500 or so.
Burn way less electricity.

Mars Hydro has some decent looking lights right now if you just want something off the shelf.

That's because you went from 6,000 watts of intense light to 2,880 (360 watts each, according to the ad you linked) watts of questionable light. And that's assuming the power supplies (aka "drivers") in the things are performing to rated specification. Always read the entire ad. (And, if the ad is on Amazon or eBay, believe 20% of it, probably  .)

yea they are boxed and going back lol. im just gonna grab 2 more 1000 watt hps and stick with tried and true. i mean a 1000 watt hps electricity cost is spit in the bucket. my switching to led was more so a heat concern with summer and all but in all honesty i dont see what people are talking about because in all honesty my room was around 10-12 degrees hotter with the leds than when i had 6k watts of hps lighting with air cooled hoods. i think until led can make some serious alien leaps i will stick with hps.

Equivalent true light cost for LED would be a spit in the bucket on a hot day in the desert after you walked a mile then!

Respectfully I think you could have just a bit more digging here on LED's and found out that they've made those leaps a while back and you bought old tech and good marketing that has been warned against at nausium here. Just sayin. CHeers, good luck! :yahoo:
