My Indoor & Outdoor Dark Angel & White Widow Grow Journal, 2018

Those girls are going to get tall!! I would personally top them. You can always just top the smallest growth coming from the very tip of the plant. I like a more even bushy plant rather then a single large cola that I have to stake up. That’s just my personal opinion. Either way, they look happy as heck! I’ll stick around for the ride if you don’t mind!

A new issue popped up... spiders?

Spider mites. Try spraying the plants down completely with a strong stream of water just shy of damaging the plants to knock them off. They like the underside of dry leaves, so make sure you get them there and in the nodes. If you can't get rid of them in a few days, use the same method with an insecticidal soap. Keep the plant well hydrated and mist two or more times per day once you get rid of them. Don't use the soap in the month prior to harvest.

Should I cut off the leaves that are affected?

That's not needed except for the very worst cases. The affected leaves are still harvesting light for the plants. I had a severe case of spider mites in a snowball bush. I tried the water, then the soap, and finally a commercial miticide over a two year period. It just didn't work. I ended up pruning out the worst infestation, and sprayed the commercial miticide five times and eventually got it cleared up, saving the bush. This is OK for ornamental plants, but I wouldn't use this for a crop. I'd destroy the crop if I couldn't get it under control without the miticide.

Wow.. ok hopefully I can get them under control. I’ve moved the plants and they are now getting sun for over 10 hours and closer to the hose so I can spray them often. They seem to be filling in

Grow my little babies.. grow!

It seems like a still have a few leaves that are eaten, but no major webs anywhere and I have yet to see any mites. I spray them with a strong stream of water twice daily... so you guys think I should just stick with what I’m doing or move to a stronger soap at this point?

More updates!
