Ninja's Bagseed Hydro Grow

ok, I've finally found the balls to start a grow journal
this grow is the product of a couple of frustrating failures
i knew nothing about growing a healthy marijuana plant
i started two bagseeds in 6inch pots and put them on a second story window sill, as it turned out i was living at my (now ex)girlfriend's
and her stepdad actually stole one of my plants (they were a secret but he found em) i had named them Shavo and El Jeffe, El Jeffe got stolen
i didnt know how to make a plant flower at the time and Shavo ended up dying in my closet under a single incandescant bulb
feeling like i failed, i then did alot of research (most of it here at 420)
armed with all my newly found knowledge i tried again
this time i went with a box instead of out in the open
i used an old wooden ammo crate measuring about 12"X12"X24"tall
i used two 3" cpu fans for intake/exaust
4X23w cfl's and a 70w HPS, but alas, it outgrew this
i retofitted an old toybox with the lights i had
and added a 3rd cpu fan, this plant i had named D.D.R.P.
because i had started it in a diet DR Pepper can ^_^
she was beautiful, just starting to sprout white hairs all over
then, due to unforseeable circumstances,i left it in someone else's care
just for a couple weeks, and she died from a combination of
heat, light burns, and heavy pruning ( no green thumb there, eh?)
so again i returned to 420 and hit the books with a vengance
the result this time, i built a full sized closet
36" wide 32" deep and 77" tall, a 4"cpu fan intake and
a 9"exaust fan, the same 70w HPS from before, 4 42w CFL's,
and 2 48" fluro fixtures(4X40w bulbs, 6500k) mounted vertically

ok, here's what i've achieved so far...

i germinated one seed to start with, it split, i put it in soil, and she sprouted july 29 . that would make it day 46 now - i switched to 12/12 on day 31
i transferred her to a hydrobucket around day 22 or 23, it was inspired by a
design i saw on an awesome grow by StratLogic
for nutrients i've got some stuff i found at lowe's it's a green liquid food
label says "Schultz 10-15-10 plant food plus miconutrients"
it worked pretty good on a previous plant, so i'm using it here too
now around day39 i discovered the hairs, so she is a she
right now she's got tufts of hair at every node
i know (being bagseed and all) i can't determine parentage
but her fan leaves are huge and wide, my others were slender
also somewhere i found time to start 8 "soda can" seedlings
all but one actually sprouted, they're all Diet Coke cans so i put numbers on all the cans, DC1 to DC8, DC6 never hatched (none of them matter)
i did attempt to take a clone- it's still green after 2 days detached
but no roots yet

Dammit!, i think im getting the flu (bad for me, im diabetic- weak immune system)
nevertheless
here's some pictures of the clone and the soda can plants that i took today

hey ninja..
glad to see u persevered and are still growing.. I honestly had a hellacious first grow and iwanted to give up so many times, and nearly did. But I decided to just read more so I wouldn't make so many damn mistakes.. and this time around my ladies look really healthy and are so happy...
soo good luck bro and keep educating urself every chance u get..

p.s. u can still get those cfls closer =)

i spent allday yesterday throwing up and sleeping
but im feelin better today
here's some pics from today

CrimsonK , MedMan - thank you both for your kindness
i still have some helly chest congestion, but i dont feel so rundown
the clone holder - i broke my ankle in 4 places back in May (lortab^_^)
unfortunatly the clone didnt work out, was yellow and limp, i did away with it
i rearranged the grow closet, ill put some pictures up as soon as i can find my damn camera, i left the pics on there

ok, earlier today i did some improving on the closet
i replanted 3 of the soda can plants
2 of them got eaten by my little brother's pomeranian (i know i misspelled that^_^)
i already had white plastic stapled up on the back of the closet
today i put some on th sides as well
the rack i had the bucket on is now off to the side ( shelf for the babies)
i also added another 4inch CPU fan to blow air across the main plant
also i've decided to name the big one Behemoth

Ninja,

Glad to see you are giving it another try. Looks good, and it always gets better with each try. Have you thought about adding any reflective material (mylar, flat white paint on cardboard panels) to try to close in the grow area a little and get more impact from your lighting?

JC

yep, it says 7 drops per quart and on the side of the box it says good for transplants
rooting and hydroponics
btw-is Schultz, not Scotts

well, it does seem to be working, but i should point out
im strapped for cash lately, and i live in a small hick town
we've got a walmart, a lowe's and a Feed'N'Seed
none of them carry anything fancy like FoxFarms
and this stuff is CHEAP ($2.50 - 4 oz bottle
i know if i were to use better nutes i could do better
but for the price, i find its giving the results i hoped for
so yes, i think ill just doo the whole thing with this stuff
(this if the farthest point i've ever grown a plant to)
id love some suggestions though

Looking good:cheer:
Broke it 4 places? Time to get rid of the bike (if you ride one):grinjoint:
I final sold mine, figured I was gona kill myself:grinjoint:
You really did a good job on the grow room. Mylar would help and its cheap.
Even aluminum foil works, but use the dull side. Brite side not good causes hot spots. I haven't tried clones yet. From what I've read many have trouble getting clones to grow. I'll try a few soon.
You've really improved the your grow space. +reps

no bike involved MedMan, funny ass story if you consider
im a 20something potsmoker, heavy metal fan, dressed in black
i was trying to help a group of little kids save a kitten, before a dog got to it
i jumped over the railing of a porch- straight down to the ground, landed on my feet
took a step, realized i couln't feel my foot, nother step, it hurt so bad i started laughing
but yeah, the white plastic i put up in the box
i used some huge industrial garbage bags, cut em into sheets, stapled it up
as far as clones, i might try again on this one^_^

It's probably not the best nute for hydro because it has 8.2% urea nitrogen and the organisms needed to convert urea nitrogen to usable nitrogen are not present in hydroponic systems.

I did some reading and it can be modified so that it will work better.

"To each gallon of water I added the following nutrients:
28 drops of Schultz liquid fertilizer 10-15-10, one half teaspoon potassium nitrate, and one forth teaspoon magnesium sulfate(Epsom salt)."
