OldManJJ's Auto Flower Experiment

Auto Tent update - Things are moving along, I'm just letting the plants do their thing. We moved the struggling girl to the other side of the tent and she seems to be recovering from whatever it was she didn't like. The clones in the middle don't seem to mind that space. Hopefully I don't run out of room as I would really like to keep these clones as mother plants until my next run.

Temps are around 73 with 60% RH.

Plants look great man! What's the story with the yellowing on the small plant in the front? Is it time to transplant her?

The small plants are clones, yellowing may have been caused when the plant was getting its roots established and needed some nutes. They will both be up potted today. It wasn't happening last night, we came off the boat with more of a buzz than anticipated so we didn't do much with the plants, lol

Update time!

Not a lot to say here except I'm running out of space quick! To mitigate that, I just ordered a 5x5 tent from one of our great sponsors @Mars Hydro

Hopefully it arrives sometime next week. Once I upgrade the lights and fan system for the new 5x5 (for now, I'm done spending $$), I will be returning to Mars Hydro, great pricing and the certifications they have on the products I looked at meet my standards :snowboating:

Here are the girls, the two in the middle are Clones, White Cookies and Blueberry. The Auto's are OG Kush.

Seriously healthy looking plants. Are you growing the autos unfettered, ie, are you not training them at all and just letting them go? Those clones became real sweet looking actual plants pretty quickly too, no? They are gorgeous man. Awesome work.

@Jon Yes, the autos are just doing their thing, 0 input from me other than water. The soil is Michigan Mediums. Autos got 1/2 bloom on the bottom, 1/2 veg on top. When I dropped the seeds, we placed a solo cup in the veg portion, filled that hole with start mix and dropped the beans.

The clones are in the Veg soil now. I am hoping to take 4 clones from each of them to gear up for the next run.

Interesting. You and I are handling the young plants in living soil in much the same way. Kind of buffering it's entrance into the soil so it's not too hot to start, right? I did something very similar with the Sohum.

Short update in the Auto/Clone tent. Things were getting really tight in the 2x4 so, with my wallet + @Mars Hydro I give you the new tent! The girls now have some room to breathe and spread out.

The tent is nice, the price was right however, based on my other tent, I have a few suggestions. My state is weird and requires locks on the doors (yes, Politicians are all idiots). I'd like to see double zippers on the small doors to make it so I don't have to cobble something together to lock the doors.

My other complaint is against EVERY tent I have seen, we all mount a LOT of stuff to the ceiling, can tent manufacturers not include a few extra support poles for the roof? Thankfully, I had ordered some and and a few extra from my 5x9 tent, that made mounting much easier.

Overall, I am quite happy with the tent and without further rambling, here is the porn!!

God do I love me some good infrastructure porn. SWEET. Clean. Neat. Organized. Complete. Looks super solid. Atta boy! You go!!!!!!

Ok all you autoflower experts, below is a pic of my girl, she has been in soil for 63 days as of today. Unless I'm totally wrong, shouldn't she bee in flower already?

She's not ready yet. There is no hard and fast rule for when she'll flower. Should be soon though- the more training she's had the longer her veg time (IMHO).
I'm definitely not an autoflower expert though lol

I'm no autoflower expert but I'd bet the farm that what you're looking at there is a photo, my friend.

I'm starting to think the same thing. If that's the case, I'm in trouble, LOL!

Bwahaaahaaa!!!!!! Ha! I hope it is a photo so you're forced to figure out the challenge. ;) I see your problem if it is - you have autos on say 20/4 or 18/6 and a photo on the same schedule, but to flip you need 12/12. Sure, you could flip and finish the autos on 12/12 but that sucks, and you have no other place to create a 12/12 separately. That about the size of it? I laugh because I faced that same damn challenge last grow!

Whatcha gonna do now, boy?

@Jon well, since you asked. I will wait for the new @Mars Hydro FC3000 that I won to come in. Then the clones will get moved to my smaller tent so I can flip the auto's. That will still present me with a challenge. In my main tent I have 7 different strains going (n00b mistake), the chances of them all being ready at the same time are slim to none so my thoughts on using the 2x4 tent for drying just went up in :lot-o-toke:

Ah....touche! That's what I'm talking about. You already have the solution. Nice job. Use your bathroom to dry in, just keep the door shut and cover the window. It's perfect conditions for a nice slow dry at house and AC temps and humidity. Got that option?

I do have that option buuuut, I was hoping I wouldn't stink the whole place up!
Ahh....well, here's what I did. First I cut about 12 pieces of bamboo so that they would sit across the bathtub top edge from the wall to the opening. I placed them evenly from end to end, creating a tray of sorts to lay my branches on to dry. This is so there's no construction of a hanging thing involved. The quick and easy version. Then I took my biggest fan and opened the one window in the bathroom (most have one or none) and placed the fan on the windowsill facing outwards. This creates a little bit of reverse suction to help draw the air out the window for exhaust. Again, the easy way, nothing to set up, just plug in a fan. Then close the window on the fan to where it will close and stuff all the remaining open window with whatever you got, like towels, till it's sealed. Now take a piece of cardboard and cover the open glass to eliminate as much light as you can. Then, if you have a nice small fan, place it in the bottom of the bathtub facing a long way. This will swirl along the edges of the bathtub and create a tiny little vortex under the buds you are drying without blowing air on the actual buds themselves. Now turn off the lights, shut the door, and seal the crack under the door like you were smoking in your bedroom and trying to not get caught.

There you go. Perfect drying setup with zero cost that is smell proof to the rest of the house.
