Outdoor Scandinavia

One question.

When you do outdoor growing, do you usually top the ladies or just leave it as it is?

And if topping, when do you do that?

It is the KG I am thinking about, not the BM Auto.

I've seen many outdoor growers top their plants several times to create enormous plants with many bud-spots. By the looks of your photos I would say they need a couple of weeks before you top them. You can also top some auto strains, but many of them do not react well to topping, so unless you know your strain will react well to it, I wouldn't do that. But with the photos - go ahead!

Thanks for the advices. I will see how growth continues next 2 weeks with KG and then make a decision weither to top it or not.

We have had some solid temperatures during the day between 18 and 22 degrees Celsius. During night it has been pretty steady between 12-15 degrees Celsius.

Here is a new weather forecast:

My balcony ladies are doing some progress.

BM4 is now 12 cm tall and JH4 is 5 cm.

I think I will try to put them both out in the woods on wednesday.

Even though JH4 is considerable smaller than BM4, it already has a much stronger sentence. It will be interesting to follow BM4 and how the smell develops. If it doesn't smell much during flowering I might try to grow one during winter indoors.
When it comes to autos, do they finish (seed to harvest) in 8-10 weeks? Or do they start to flower after 8 weeks?

The BM Auto in the woods is now 5 weeks since I put the seed in the ground, wich means it could be halfway through life?

Generally, the times you see mentioned in the descriptions would be considered the total time. But this can be anywhere from spot-on to wildly optimistic. And I think some may take the stance that they only count the time after the first flower forms (IOW, add... a couple of weeks(?) for those). But, no, they don't mean that an auto-flowering strain begins to flower after eight weeks. If you still see no sign of flowering after that length of time, there's a problem.

Short update.

I believe BM4 is showing signs of entering her flowering period?

As you can see JH4 is behind in size, but she is catching up when it comes to size of the leafes.

I will head out to the woods tomorrow and I think I will do my move and put both of them in the ground.

Any opinions are welcome.

So, I finally got some work done on wednesday.

First I took some pictures of my balcony ladies BM4 and JH4. After that I put the ladies in my backpack and bicycled out to the woods.

When in the woods I replanted BM4 next to KG1 and JH4 next to BM2.

KG1 and BM2 looked a little bit yellow on some leafs and I guess it is a combination of draught and lack of nutrition in the ground.

I put a mix of soil and perlite in and around KG1 and BM2. Then I "nuked" them with some organic fertilizer and topped with a good doze of water.

BM4 and JH4 was replanted in holes with their pot soil and an additional mix of soil and perlite. I nuked these two also and finished with a good water shower.

Now I am out of town for 10-12 days, so it will be very interesting to see what has happened when I get back.

I really hope my ladies will get enough rain and sun the coming days and that the transplantation for my balcony ladies will be all right. I guess the coming days and week will be critical.

Here are some pics...

I put the ladies in my backpack and bicycled out to the woods.

It looks like it was a good day to go for a ride (and a nice environment to ride in).

I hope your plants receive lots of sunshine - and very few pests.

It was a nice evening. Here is a view of the place where I have my ladies.
The lessons I learn this season will be of good use next year.

Best of luck on your grow :) you did not use auto flowers? That seems ideal for your locale.

Thank you.

I have Blue Mystic Auto and Jock Horror Auto. The Kaya Gold is photo. All feminized.

Next spring I will start earlier with Kaya Gold and Blue Mysic. Jock Horror seem to have it tougher up here in the north.

Put out some tiny auto's in 0.5 liter air-pots :) It's for a grow-challenge. Max container size 0.5l. Just for fun. The change of light schedule did however stress them so much they got nanners. Will pollinate some photos with them and see what kind of seeds we get. Am also extremely far north

Good luck!

How old are those girls? Looking pretty bushy to me, compared to mine.

What kind of autos?

What kind of old structure is it you use as a table?

Looking at the pictures it looks like the kind of trees we have up in the nordic countries.

They're Jack Herer Automatik from Advanced seeds. They're 37 days old, It's an antique sewing machine table. And indeed - I believe I'm as far north as you ;)

Did you grow them indoors in the beginning or how did you manage to make them so big? My ladies are very small compared to yours.
