And Kebert...(Auto AK-47)

Kebert was FIMed last night, hoping it'll work as well as it did with Abby. Abby is probably right now starting her first 12 hours of light after being in the dungeon for 36 hours. We shall see how that fares....

Cool! A video game plant. What's the combo for a flying side kick to the head?!

Looking real nice there, kudos to you and +Reps too! :bong:

Still trying to figure out the cheat code to jump to the last level of the flowering stage...

OK, quick update:

Abby has been put into the flowering cab. She went under for 36 hours of darkness before she started the 12/12 cycle. Space was a little tight before so the two power strips were affixed to the ceiling and the shelf/ceiling lowered about 6". There are 12 26W CFLs going in addition to the red 11W LED. Probably enough room for a third plant (Ziva has been LSTed s'more and she's going to veg out for the time being).

Also, I did pick up some Neem oil and give a dose to all the plants. There have been no indications of any other pest problems. Thanks again for the advice.

Sooooo we got some good sized plants, considering the fact that they're only about a month old and are primarily from bagseed. Going to try keeping Ziva in veg for a while longer, train her to grow big and strong. I'd like to put a screen over her eventually, but since Im a newb I dont know that much about ScrOG technique. Should I have started earlier with the screen, or is there still time? How do I promote each separate growth chute to get tall enough to reach the screen? So many questions... anyone with any experience or anecdotes or any kind of direction, feel free to chime in!

And no, we havent been giving the plants flaming Popov shots, in case any of you were wondering. Lighter and Handle of Vodka for size comparison.
Peace out dudes!

On the whole the garden is looking pretty good. Kate and Abby seem to be doing OK, but there is some splotching on the leaves that I'm a bit concerned about. Its very inconsistent, with spots on the leaves edges and some more in the center of the leaf. Some are just a light green where others are rust colored.

It doesn't seem to line up with any one problem, it seems like it could be a combination of several issues.

On the whole Kate and Abby do look to be fairly healthy, although they haven't grown all that much in the past few days.

Leia took well to being transplanted, and I figure we'll start some LST in a few days.

Ziva got some more LST, and she's being a trooper.

So yeah overall the plants are looking good. I havent seen them in a few days, but is it me, or does Abby look a little droopy? I'll post up some pics in a few with more detailed shots of the degradation on Kate's larger fan leaves. We ordered a pH meter, but havent calibrated it yet. Think the local fish store would be kind enough to help us with it?

Well I checked out Kate and Abby last night. Abby shocked me, she was drooping really bad all over the place. I ended up trimming off a dead leaf on the bottom, and water was literally dripping out of the stem. We tested the water we've been giving them, the spring water came out good at 6.5, but the tap came back at 8.5, so were going to start adjusting that before we give it to them. Ive been reading all over, and I can't find a solid answer as to the pH they should be getting. We havent tested the runoff water yet, but I have a feeling it will be in the high 6 to low 7's. What kind of numbers should we be looking at, in terms of the runoff? I know the pH going in is to balance the plant out, and the output dictates its interaction with the plant. I guess Im kind of confused. If we put in (for example) pH 8.0 and got 6.0 runoff, would that mean the plant is at 7.0? My best instincts tell me to put in 5.3-5.7, and try to get runoff around 6.0. I suck royally at math, so any help here would be appreciated. We will post up more pics soon!

So here's Abby... timestamps are accurate with time, AM/PM is reversed. 22 hours between first 2 photos, and third photo..
:hmmmm::hmmmm:

And now...

She's still got some spotting, as does Kate, but it seems to not be affecting her as much as was previously thought. It was most likely over-watering mixed with pH being off. Shes looking 10X better now!:cheer:

Well, Abby and Kate seem to be rebounding from their little brush with doom. Still no definitive sex signs on either plant, and sadly the preflowers all up and down the stem and starting up the main side branches, are dead and brown. Will upload pics sometime soon, I wonder if this is a definitive death sentence for flowers.

Ziva is lookin fantastic, shes strong as hell and looks like about a square foot of 3-4" high groundcover. We're thinking it might be time to move her into the new cab soon, but we're concerned about space. I'm still thinking of throwing a screen up above Ziva and trying a single-plant ScrOG, just to get my feet wet. Suggestions or ideas are welcome!

On another note, the spot I cut Abby for FIM just closed itself off and browned over, but the side branches got huge. On Kebert, (AK47) I FIM'ed her, and the cut is shooting off new growth; totally different from Abby's reaction. Did I end up topping Abby and FIMing Kebert? This thread is almost worthless without pics, so I'll upload some in the next 24-48 hours to better illustrate what I mean.

Thanks for stoppin by!

Hey readers, got some good looking plants and good news.

Leia is looking great and full. Over three weeks old and hasn't show sex yet, which seems to be getting a bit late for an autoflower, but I'm hopeful.

Kebert is responding well to Pat's FIM. Bushing up and looking sexy

Kate has recovered and is looking healthy, and may even be starting to form her top bud, even though there are still no definite signs of her sex.

And finally two new additions to the crew, some Church and Lemon Skunk. During the bug scare a week ago, it was the Lemon Skunk's soil that was affected. An interesting thing happened after it was transplanted, it ended up with brown cotys. Almost immediately the first leaf started forming normally but the cotys have not changed, I'm guessing it'll just need nutes earlier than usual (small doses!).

Thanks for stopping by and more to come as always!

Ok so here's what I was talking about with the FIM of Abby and Kebert...
Abby's cut, just died. You can see how big the surrounding branches got though...

Now Kebert's FIM

See the difference? Strange.
And heres are a couple more pics of Kebert, the Auto-AK47

Overall the plants are looking healthy! Im quite pleased with Kebert as well. We'll be setting up the new cab's top portion soon, and are wondering exactly how we're going to run it; for the autoflowers, as another veg area, or another flowering area. So many things to decide....

Still trying to figure out the cheat code to jump to the last level of the flowering stage...

You and every grower on this planet and maybe lots more! :thumb:

~GOD MODE~ got me thru the last iteration of Quake but hasn't shortened flowering times at all. Damn iD for the false hopes! lol

IMHO 36 hrs of dark before 12/12 robs your plants of 3 flowering days and is another one of those urban grower myths that belong in the heap with old wive's tales. I just flip to 12/12 and see fresh hairs in three days so where's the logic in prolonged dark times? Priming the girls with bloom nutes a week before flipping makes a heck of a lot more sense to me and has worked great for me for many grows

Just like the dark period before harvest. If you can't harvest it all in one day then take the big colas off and watch the lower buds fatten up in a week or so. Then take them off and get the last in a couple of more weeks for a yield that makes a lot more sense than the 1% extra THC that you might get with the long dark and chopping the whole plant at once

During any dark period the plant is sucking up nutes, making sugars and other nutes that it needs to grow with then using them as building blocks for when the light turns on. That's why I would never recommend a 24 hr light regimen. The plant has to create it's juices while trying to use them all at the same time. An ancient plant like cannabis has a hard time dealing with multi-tasking or changing it's regular routine. Try teaching your grandma to use her new bank card in an ATM! lol

I run 18/6 for veg and 12/12 for flower. I run 60+ watts/sqft for veg and hit 90+ for flower. All HID with a mix of HPS and MH. LEDs have found a place in my old, cold heart and are more convenient than my old 4' fluoros for lower light needs like clones or baby veg plants.

Sorry to babble on so but a box of beer with meds will limber up the old tongue. I only open my mouth to change feet anyway. LOL

:peace:

Ive heard of boxes of wine....but beer? Poor man's keg? LOL Its all good LabRat, we come here for knowledge and entertainment, and get both! Thanks for the insight on the 36 hours of dark, I think we might forget about doin that from now on. Kate and Abby still havent shown sex yet, and theyve been in the flowering cab for almost 2 weeks!

Bud, your eyes do not deceive you...those are indeed pistils! One night the AK was just another plant, and the next day she's a vibrant She! Im slightly concerned with her height; shes just about 6 inches now. We covered the bottom up to the coty's with dirt, hoping she sprouts some more roots and grows nice and big.

Anyone with experience with AK47 autoflowers would be extremely helpful. How tall are we looking to get during flowering? I was under the impression that the plants grow in veg, then convert their energy into flowers during bloom stage. If this thing doesnt grow up some more, its gonna be a midget-version of the dwarf that it is.

Latest update...here's Leia, we think it might be male, but arent sure. Let us know if we should yank it! It's an autoflower of Lowryder#2, so we probably wanna get it out of the cab before it auto-flowers and auto-pollinates everything else...

Happy 4/20 everyone!
