Slammy Pajammy's Outdoor Adventures!

Thanks for the love, everybody! Still a semi regular spray-down of potassium salts of fatty acids and dipel is keeping our friends relatively bug free. We've been keeping them wet in between big rains and they are looking happy!

Everything is looking slamming, Slammy!

Thanks guys! We've been keeping them very wet between big rains and I think they are enjoying it! This is the first true outdoor attempt we've done, aside from moving some clones from tent to outdoor just for flower last year. It's been pretty good! We've certainly learned a lot over the last few years of veggie gardening here about what pests to expect and how to combat them, so it's been very satisfying to watch a lot of our early research and hard work start to pay off.

Same with the supersoil! I've mixed up probably 3 or 4 big batches over the last 3-4 years that have inevitably been somewhat combined and mixed and matched, and now that it's had a few flower runs through it, it's definitely coming into its own! Not perfect, there are a few hungry plants and little deficiencies the still pop up. Particularly I think potassium is still one I'm chasing a little bit in my base mix. But for the most part, pretty happy!

Starting to see lots of different types of mushroom activity popping above the surface of a lot of the pots too, so I see that as a good sign of some healthy active soil!

Ladies are looking big and beautiful! I'm thinking this very strawberry smelling one (which still has a few beautiful bright pink pistils!) is getting very close to done! Maybe in the next week or two I'm guessing she'll start to go a bit more amber than I want and she'll get the chop!

What do you guys think? Just a couple little amber ones, lots of cloudy, but I think still possibly just a fewww clear ones hiding out amongst the rest. But I don't know how much longer I'll last anyway before I tear her down and give her a proper taste!

Love ladies Baskin in the sun. :thumb:
I don't see anymore white pistols so your close.
I'd give her a bit more time though, hasn't quite finished flowering yet.
Have you got you chop, trim and cure process ready to go?

Stay safe

I don't see any amber yet and apparently, outdoor amber is different from indoor amber. @BeezLuiz (?) , I think had his outdoor plants tested and the cannabinoid numbers were a lot different than what he was expecting.

Good-looking buds you have there Slammy. :thumb: What HashGirl is referring to is that plants under the sun will tend to amber up faster than indoor plants. While amber is certainly something to look at, it isn't the only thing that determines ripeness. I usually see amber on my outdoor grows before I see cloudy. I pay more attention to cloudy than I do amber. Some of the things I look at in addition to cloudy and amber: 1) If there's fresh pistil stigmas still popping out, it's probably not ready yet. 2) If your plants are still drinking water on their regular schedule, they are probably not ready yet. Plants will slow down their drinking requirements when it gets close to the harvest window. 3) This is a new one for me, but I've recently read that the flower's aroma will change once it gets close to ripe. I haven't tested that out myself.

Oh, I forgot to comment about the testing I did. Because THCa degrades into CBNa as it progresses to over-ripeness, I would expect to have some percentage of CBN present in properly timed buds at harvest. In my samples I had tested, no CBN was detected, so I concluded that I probably harvested too early even though I had 10-20% amber at the time of harvest. The lab test data can be Found Here. :Namaste:

So we wanted to update and close this journal....

Tragedy struck and we had two of the four end with bud rot. It came on fast and we tore them down, liberally cutting out about half of the buds if not more on them. The smoke was noticeably not tasty and it was just.... sad. The humidity was too high and it was too wet of a season. Didn't have the heart to post and was in mourning. We have started an indoor grow and will persevere with the next run.

:cough:
