Volksball's First Grow: White Widow Feminized Grow Journal 2018

And does anyone know if the plants normally recover after two very similar defoliation sessions inside of five days?
If you see Bassman59 defoliation, you won’t have a problem!

Guessing it's pretty aggressive...
In veg didn’t see how they made it , after a few days they looked fine . I did mine 10 days ago and you can’t tell it now on this new grow .

Good morning, growers.

Still training outward, the canopy is getting thicker and wider. It's getting very difficult to work in between the thickness. Pulling branches into new holes on the screen is getting tough with all the fan growth. I tuck where and how I can. It's fair to say that the plants barely felt the defoliation.

Do I continue to defoliate? Even lollipop at this point? I'm concerned with the latter as I've never done it and where do you stop?? Sure, there are pics and journals to consult, but many seem quite aggressive while others are less. Or so I just keep tucking and proceeding as I'm doing. No more defoliation or thoughts of lollipopping.

Day 70.

Thx.

Hey guys,

Recently, when training the plants out wide, I was noticing a few damaged leaves. I'm wondering if my scrogging method is the right one. I lay them down sideways. They grow sideways well for the most part, but at times, the new growth tips mash into the netting. Is this hurting them? I attached a few pics of how I do it. I'd hate to be hurting valuable growth tips and yeilds when I flip soon.

Thx.

Think of the Plant(Cannabis Weed)....it has the same inherent desires as humans...the will to live at whatever means necessary. The only difference is how we absorb the energies we are provided, such as CO2 vs O2. They will figure out where Photosynthesis is best and reach for it. Just as in the Rhizosphere, the Roots will REACH for the Macronutrients of N-P-K and the Micronutrients Zinc, Iron, Manganese, etc.....Looking good man! Cheers!

Thanks man! Helps me understand their motivation when mashing themselves. Much appreciated on the weigh in.

Hi guys,

Thanks for helping me decide on my next moves.

As you'll see, I went ahead and splayed out my plans wide. You'll see big openings in the middles now to hopefully promote fill in growth, while continuing to go out wide.

Because of how close to the borders the plants have gotten, I've decided as @Pennywise suggested, to now let them grow up a bit before flipping in a week. My light is 1000w HID giving me somewhere in between a 4x4 and 5x5 light footprint. Much wider, and the girls might fall outside of that. Hopefully that all makes sense and seems like a good plan.

Still trying to decide on a more aggressive defoliation of the undergrowth and possibly lollipopping. Just need to do some more research on when and how much. I already defoliate about five days ago. Would hate to overdo it or do it too close to the flip.

Thx.

Day 72.

What we usually do is wait until around 21 days after flip when the stretch has finished. Then we lollipop the lower part of the plant and remove branches that haven’t made it up to the canopy. Then look at the plant from the top and remove leaves that are blocking Bud sites. I only trim what I absolutely have to. Hope this helps

It does. Thank you very much. So based on that, I should not defoliate anymore until the 3 week mark? And looking at my pics, would you agree that I should now let them grow, rather than than continuing to spread them out?

Scrog is looking good. Can't wait to see the buds. You should have a nice harvest. I'm glad it's not me having to water them. Have you worked out a good system for that.

Thanks man. Here's to hoping it all goes well for the next bit. The watering isn't quite as bad as you'd think. I can fit under the scrog with a gallon jug and give them a good pour on all sides. Let it sink, do the next plant, then the next, then repeat until the feed is done. The mouth of a7gal pot gives you a decent surface area to work with.
