Weed Wars: Five-Year-Old Takes Medical Marijuana On Reality Show

Really surprised to see all the negative comments about the show. I didn't see episode one, but episode two had me cheering. I have never seen such a positive portrayal of cannabis on TV as this. It was unambiguous in showing how cannabis truly helped the little boy, and how the government is continually interfering with basic human rights.

OWS losers? When the oceans are fished out, the air unbreathable, our kids uneducated, the sea level overflowing low lying areas, and the world tumbling over a cliff due to the corporate takeover of our society, I wonder who will be called a loser. I suspect all of us.

I cheer the fact that so many folks are putting their bodies on the line to say STOP! OWS is a wakeup call for all of us who have been sleeping in front of the TV while our lives hang in the balance. OWS are the smart frogs that have jumped out of the boiling pot.

amen!!!

Yeah, I accidently found out that I do have the Discovery channel, thats what I get for listening to my bf..lol...saw the episode with the lil boy and his father. Just amazing to me. Equally amazing is what Steve De' Angelo does. I would love to meet him just to sit and talk for hours, interesting man with a very forgiving heart when it came to Lil Stevie. I am going to set my dvr to start recording this show.

I feel ya on Steve's heart too, he seems like a wonderful and truely compassionate, gentle soul.

I'd just like to see all smokers taking notes from this guy, he fight's this unjust system with every thing he has!

I have to say what a smart tactic this show is to bring a nothing but positive message about cannabis to the whole world for ALL to see without hardly even a shred of negative bias included.

What a spring board we have now for a real fight to take to the enemy.

I never thought we would ever see a positive message about cannabis on television in my lifetime and here it is being brought to the world :welldone::bravo::bravo::bravo::cheer::thanks: :thanks: :Namaste:

If we don't use this open, positive message to our advantage and speak out now, then shame on us!

What a gem, I love this show! :circle-of-love:

No follow up on the boy with the seizures?

It is [less than wise] to give an embezzling employee a second chance to steal From you..

I was under the impression that he may just give Lil Stevie a second chance in 6 months time. He may not let him work with the mj per se but I still think he will let him do something.

It is all about trust whether it is medicine, money, time, or love. Who is going to hire him now? I don't have advice for "Stevie" and I will pray for him...however, men in similar situations may need a change in direction... maybe taking a break from pot, and acquiring a more complex skill set that is separate from cannabis altogether.

I too love and believe in the power of cannabis, but it is not the center of life. There are other beautiful and fantastical adventures out there, and almost all of them require a clear head.

I think he should give him a second chance after he does some serious soul searching.

He did give the money back but he needs to earn his hay back into Steve D's heart again...and I mean really earn it!

There is nothing worse than thievery and dishonesty but I think that kid is going through some really tough times and needs Steve D in his life because he may just self destruct without the guidance of his mentor.

I would think there would be a place for him to help that is not so financially sensitive...maybe a clone tender? something?

As far as the "doing bong hits on camera" goes, I think that if cops can get caught on camera on an episode of "Cop's" taking shots of boos and drinking beer after a raid on a house where they ruined the lives of people, then these people should have their bong hits at home, of the very medicine they are prescribing to their patients.

I have to think these fkn cops just got right in their cars and drove home after getting gloriously drunk and that ain't cool in any aspect!!! but people just condone and promote alcohol so much that nothing was said about it...why? Drinking and driving? these cops should have been fired on the spot!!!! They are putting people in jail for doing the exact same thing they are doing...where's the justice in that???

If Steve D want's to do "bong hits" on camera in a mmj legal state legally? He has every right to do so! This is reality and he's just keeping it real!

I think Weed Wars is not casting cannabis in a positive light at all. Nor necessarily should it. It is what it is. At the same time, this industry is relatively new and needs to go through the same maturation process as any other business.

I love the fact that CA wholesale prices are being driven lower. It proves cannabis can be subject to the same market forces as any other commodity. Deflationary price pressures are good for the working poor, no?

There is no doubt that a dispensary can be clean, professional and discrete. The business model can work but I don't see how it can survive the Obama crackdown.

@warrior...no question he has a right to take his bong hits. I just advise against it. As I think Chris Rock once said, "Keeping it real? Keeping it real dumb." Smoking ANYTHING on screen is bad optics, even for the Cain campaign.

Sure the police are flawed, but why hate them? The policy makers direct where enforcement energies are spent. Check out sheriff Joe's problems chasing sexual predators....perhaps he is too busy with illegals.

Social acceptance of cannabis both recreational and medical requires finesse, not brute force in your face counter culturalism.

Ok,it's more than a "flaw" when a police officer pulls your friend over for "driving too good" (actually said by the cop) and takes him to jail for having an empty beer can in the bed of his truck that someone else threw in their, he had no idea was even in their. He doesn't even drink alcohol!

Tell that to another friend of mine, that had his truck stolen from work recently and the cops never even bothered to show up and take his statement, of course it's still missing...a little police work please!

Tell that to the family of that 80 year old lady in Atlanta, who was gunned down in her own home because the cops got the wrong house in their "no-knock" raid.

What about that family in Tennessee, who's dog was blown away by a shotgun while the kids watched the cops brutally beat their parents on the side of the highway?

All I want to know is who is protecting us from these cops who are doing nothing but being brutal and ruining people's lives?

I honestly can't see how they are doing ANY good in our communities what so ever...they hate the general public!!!!!!!

You don't even have to be doing anything wrong, you just have to look a certain way for them roust you.

I'm sorry, but I hate them, they have never demonstrated any good doing for me or anyone I have ever met in my life, only caused sorrow and distrust.

Don't even get me started on why I hate cops, come to my home town and you'll soon hate them too! I wouldn't piss on these Nazi's if they were on fire!!! They're not protecting and serving ANYTHING!!!

Now, I'm sure there are cases where some of them actually do what we're paying them to do but them just looking for excuses to hurt someone or disrupt happy homes? It's inexcusable at best and should not be protected by a gun and a badge.

I'd like to invite you to the "Bible belt" sometime to see the carnage for yourself...seeing is believing! Maybe in your town, cops actually care about their people?...IDK?

I'm sorry man, no offense meant, I guess you have your reasons for feeling admiration for cops but I have seen how they do more harm than good where I live and I just hate living in fear like the Jews did in Germany during the Holocaust! Living in a police-state is no cake walk, believe me! IT SUCKS!!!

A LOT of good men died defending us from these ideals and now they are right here at home and IN OUR FACE's!!!

Why don't you educate yourself before you go calling someone a name..... these people do a lot of good for a lot of people...don't judge them, unless you know what you are talking about..:peace:
Where did I insult anyone? I like the people in the show but from the point of
view of the general public it looks like they are a bunch of guy's that are just trying
to get high. The cashier guy was cool and would do well to legitimize. "Dress" is great for T.V. and the guy's that run it are great for T.V. but maybe not so much for the
public that has never smoked/utilized pot for medical purposes or have smoked it in there lives. Not trying to piss anyone off... We are all on the same side!

Yes Weed Wars being a reality show alone will shed bad light on it but as long as they catch the truth while filming, for example the story with Jayden, then it will turn out good in the long run. Let face it, the worldly acceptance of it isnt going to happen overnight (even though that would be a very great thing indeed) its the diamonds in the rough that will matter. Also remember that it is a mainstream show vs the other documentaries that go straight to DVD.

From my aspect of it, Weed Wars is putting mj in a way better light than most documentaries that I have seen. What is wrong with seeing the interworkings of a mj dispensary? What's wrong with showing the perspective of the one who has seen his dream of running a dispensary become a reality? A man who makes it a point of advocating for mmj? To listen to some of you talk, you would think Steve D is just one step above your average drug dealer. Yet it also shows how mmj helps people, not your average joe but a little boy who now hums, plays, and socializes with other children his age instead of going through painful bouts of seisures everyday.

I rather watch this show than most reality shows that are out right now. It shows more reality and education than watching a bunch of rich brats from the Jersey shore or the offspring of washed up mob bosses trying to make their niche in reality tv.

...and how many patient profiles have their been? One?

@Puck, I agree with your take. However I have found that some cannaseurs take offense to the term, potheads. I have made that mistake. Using that term would be like using the terms boozer or alchy on a forum dedicated to growing grapes and wine. Ironically, some of those that take offense to the term write, speak, and act....like potheads.

All of those bud tenders could have rewarding profitable careers. I think the writing is on the wall for dispensaries. If the most liberal/socialist president in our lifetime is cracking down on dispensaries, then the career arc for the bud tenders will be very short. I hope they see that.

How many people on the show are family people with spouses, children, mortgages, and car payments? None. How many cannabis patients are in fact as normal as our neighbors? Many.

The show is playing up the stoner in charge, and playing down the good cannabis provides to the community.

Thank you sir. We all have our opinions, of course. And this is the first season of this show correct? Give it time to get to bigger issues, maybe the purpose is just to try to shed a positive light on the subject for the first season...Making non- smokers and smokers alike who are clueless to the good it can do...Baby steps, ya know. As my Mama use to say, you gotta crawl before you can walk.

Most documentaries I have seen show mj in the worst light. As in police doing raids, trying to find growers in the mountains or trying to stop some type of drug cartel. Not knowing that 9 out of 10, the camera man filming the documentary prolly smokes on the side. Or you see it exploited in some type of movie with a brotha in the hood selling it or smoking it cause everyone he knows does. I like the show and hope it will just keep getting better.

I stop there once a week to pick up my care package, and to say thanks to the people who are risking everything to give me and those in need, medicine . It's an amazing place. Harborside has really set the standard high for patient services, research, and testing of cannabis for safety and potency.
TV is TV ,its all about ratings, so sensationalism will be prevalent through out. Do yourselves a favor and download the dialog of the episodes to read. No distractions of sound , or pictures. You might see something you missed.
