Cottage420's Pepetual Grow - 2nd Grow in Progress Organic Soil Indoor

Congrats on your harvest bobrown! Looks like some nice frosty nugs to me, good job getting your technique down! I too got misled with pHing and bottled organic nutes for a while, I did the exact same things you did, so its wonderful to see you make your way away from that. anyways, subbed, if you don't mind me stopping in from time to time ;)

Thanks SG for the kind words, ya CO got me squared up and I will be forever thankful for his help 100%. Wow I just chopped down my last 2 girls, I'm glad I waited another few weeks this harvest is going to be almost 2x the weight from my chop a few weeks ago.
Good news on the first 3 girls we chopped - had some friends over last night and we smoked some of the buds from a few weeks ago. They had an acceptable amount of cure not enough for me but enough to get a good idea on the quality. Smoke is smoooooth, very smooth actually which I think IMHO the benefits of organics - smooth taste and a very good high, everyone was in a giggle after a nice big fatty.

Last time I smoked fertilizer grown weed I could taste all kinds of stuff in the smoke that was not cannabis, yuk. Now I know what quality organics are supposed to taste like - I can't wait to grow some known good quality strains instead of bag seed.

OK so here's a few finish pics of the last 2 girls hanging on the strings... the center cola laying on the floor in the new drying room soon to be the new veg/flower room. That bud is way huge - about the size of my forearm and just as fat and dense. I grew all these girls au-naturale - no stripping fan leaves, no topping - I just let them grow and took off leaves that were done ready to fall off and I let most actually fall off on their own.

I will do a final weigh in after dry in a few days and another smoke report since these buds were let go much longer so I want to see what the difference is if any on the effects. Yeah I'm WAY WAY happy and a little sad to see my girls cut down, but comparo to last grow this grow went WAY WAY better with less issues and better result and I don't remember the last time I used a meter for anything other than testing the RO water to be sure my filter is still good and that was like 2 months or so ago.

For my next grow I've got the soil from the first big girl and the 2 other little girls in a big bin growing - I've added in some other organic matter like EWC, organic compost some stone dust (I work in a granite shop), kelp meal, neam cake, crab meal and some alfalfa meal (I think this is THE secret ingredient) oh and some organic Kashi meal!! The Kashi meal is going to be a new soil amendment for me but I'm all over the way it works beings we have a fair amount of mushroom soil and mushroom houses in my area.

Onto some pics - a few of the harvest hanging and onto the next round with a 10 out of 10 seedlings they are already getting a head of me... time to transplant!!

these seedling pots suck ass, I'm going with something else next time but I did get 10/10 the 2 empty ones I've transplanted already and put in some new seeds and they are popping too! Green thumb alert! :Namaste:

Nice....looks like everyone shed thier shells or did you have to assist?:)......were there seeds in the two empty ones?

Had to help half of em - what I did was squeeze the shell that was half way cracked just a little with tweezers to crack the shells a little more waited and they all opened up on their own. It's time to transplant already - Hey GD - can we bury more of the stem down in the soil more when we transplant?? These are stretching out pretty good I don't want them to fall over and .... well you know. I don't want to jinx them!

Nice grow man!

Hey there thanks w&b - I'll post up the dry weight here in a day or 2 of the 2nd harvest - those buds are drying now, and I will do a smoke report as well! The last harvest the buds are a lot heavier and are taking longer to dry. I learned to be more patient as I should have let the big sativa girls go longer and cut down the shorter plants early.

Cheers,
Bob

That is an affirmative Bob......plant them deep and they will grow roots off the buried part....i always bury at least half of thier stem when translplanting.....promotes a thicker stalk as well:)

That was a fun read Bob. Quite a lovely haul for that overcrowded tent. I'm looking forward to the post of your final calculation on dry weight and I'm loving your smoke reports. Ever since I harvested my first adoptee, that was grown with no chemical additives whatsoever, I have been particularly intolerant of the quality of commercially available cannabis. I can taste both the presence of poorly flushed nutrients and the lack of good curing time. We're going to be soooo spoiled! LOL!!

Let's see how the next grow goes with LOS. We're all learning together.

Question: what is this organic Kashi meal you speak of?

:Namaste:

Reps girl - we got it!!

Kashi (not the cereal) = probiotic methods same as LOS but using anaerobic biology. What I got in my bags were a meal that looks a lot like spent malt after beer brewing and it smells like spent malt a little too. I added some to my LOS soil I've been growing for my next run. Then yesterday I took the lid off the container cause I was concerned for anaerobic bacteria growing in the soil since I had the lid on and no air exchange. Took the lid off and there was a thin layer of mycelium growing on top of the soil and it smelled just like my fresh compost, that earthy smell... oh yeah it seems to be the real deal and seems it "may" take the LOS up a notch - we will see how it works along with my ACT. Supposedly the Kashi will help retain water so less watering needed and the organisms feed the plant just like the LOS. I'm on it and will be trying it out with my next run.

Now Kashi to ME - means buckwheat (no relation to wheat I've got a gluten issue), my wife is Russian and we call buckwheat Kasha (btw is very very good for you - it has everything you need to live on; protein vitamins and minerals), just taste like cardboard unless we bump the flavor up with other goodies, heck even ketchup makes it palatable. My wife eats it plain with butter salt & pepper. So this Gro-Kashi it kinda looks a little like buckwheat to be honest, but it's a kinda meal..

Here's a pic or 2 of the "mycelium" looking stuff growing on top of the soil I've got going. It's ALIVE!!!

Intrigued. I'll need to look deeper.

That's the second time in as many days that I've been tempted by the thought of buckwheat pancakes. That needs tending to.

I went looking for the Gro Kashi and am suitably impressed. Fermented food for the garden. I can see why you're so excited. More research is needed to quench the curiosity. I look forward to watching you journal it's use.

Wow we were busy today - had to take the buds off the lines to trim and into the jars for curing.

Soooo here's the weights from the first harvest and the 2nd harvest - 5 plants in all 600w hps and side lit with 900w MarsII led (got some purple with that led).

First chop = 155g into curing jars
2nd chops = 161.6g into more curing jars

316.6g curing = 11.30 zips - not too bad almost 3/4#

That's gonna take me some time to smoke that up, time to have a party! Opps Mother in Law visiting for a month tomorrow!! .... ah perfect time to let the buds cure and get the little ones growing up for the next round. She can get to work on my gnats too. Hopefully she wont find my stash and dunk em somewhere nasty.

After these buds dried properly the fan leaves where black with gold tips - kinda cool looking never seen buds with black and gold. Basically the purple on the leaves turned a dark dark purple after drying and it looks almost black with the tips of the leaves a gold color, after trimming of course they look silver and shiny too! My silly phone doesn't do justice to colors - I will take some better pics with a real camera tomorrow. But hey just so I can say it happened, nug porn commin atcha, right this way now:

If you do the math I'm missing one large cola that I put into a jar already not in the pics and it was 8g dry, and of course the other 3 plants have been curing for 3 weeks already and they are just about ready for ..... my mother in law... YIKES, not. Guess what tho I have a huge container of sugar leaves from trimming and we are going to have some tea yeah u right - she's gonna have to get with the program; little butter, little Tullamore Dew, pinch of black tea, pinch of holy basil (dried leaves), 2 pinches of Chamomile (dried flowers) and 4 pinches of organic cannabis sugar leaves. Tried that last night and I'm still medicated. Had to take the day off today from work due to fog, I couldn't see a freaking thing...went back to bed and all my ailments feel better, it's amazing!

Hey GD it's all good. House reeks of cannabis since I just took the girls off the line the other day. My wife told her what I'm growing too and I cant figure out why, but hey my stash is in good order so all good there and tonight I asked her is she's seeing any gnats in her bedroom hahahaha!!! She will come around after they brew some of my "special" tea!

On the journal front I've got a smoke report coming and some flowers I'm trying to re-veg and I think they are finally coming alive after a month which I think is contributing to the danky smell in the house!! Time to move them to the veg room me thinks. I'm barely keeping it green but all my 10 little baby girls are still alive and I've added 2 more Sleestack + skunk regular freebies and a Delicious Critical Super Silver Haze bean that popped but she's in one of those spiral things that doesn't look too good for long term.

Hey there GD thanks bro - haha just spent the weekend putting down some hardwood flooring with a grow buddy from Cali! I'm an all organic grower and he's well bringing all his meters and whatnot over to show me the "ropes". I'm like I haven't used a meter for a long while now, several months ... long story short once he got a taste of my last grow he was:

1) working his ass off getting my flooring down (with help from me and his brother)
2) wanted to smoke and couldn't stop talking about it
3) LOVED my stash! Takin pics and all it was crazy.

So Smoke Report is in order:

My Main cola from the big lady was 7.5g finished dry - a monster and sooo pretty.

Smell from the jar - smells a little like fresh cotton candy - sweet pungent sweet like candy.

Taste - SMOOOOOOTH like butter with a kick that if you aren't careful will make you cough real good. Need to take a nice smooth slow puff or the expansion in your lungs will kick the cough in right away. Thats smoking a nice big fatty with my friends.

High - great sativa buzz - starts off nice and slow in the face behind the eyes feeling a little warm followed by a very energetic high. Heck we did 600sf of hardwood flooring stoned to begeebers (smoke break every 1 - 1.5 hrs) we all were working in harmony "gettin it done". Wow that was freaking awesome. We weren't so stoned that we couldn't focus on work and we all felt great, had a lot of fun and got it done. My mother in law knew what we were doing too and I still got a pat on the back for a job well done! Doesn't get better than that. So I'm very very happy with the results and would say this grow is up there with the best meds I've ever smoked!

That said, I will probably say that after my next grow is done, at least thats my goal!

I have 2 re-veg buds still barely alive - they are green but not growing any, I put some neem cake meal as a top dressing for the fungus gnats (a few not many). I've got 12 new seedlings going now for the next grow but are a different strain so this journal is just about done. I will report back here once the re-veg starts back and start a new journal once the new seedlings are doing more. They are growing their first set of true leaves right now so tomorrow I'm going to show my mother in law how to do a compost tea and get them going proper.

So thats pretty much it for this grow and I am 1 happy green thumb mofo. My wife even likes it - she doesn't smoke hardly at all but tastes it for me and gives me a thumbs up for smooth taste and sweet smell and noticed better productivity with her work and she enjoys my canna-tea as well.

Cheers

Congratulations Bob.....great news on the floor, and your buddies reaction to your home grown meds:).....that is awesome....it is always nice seeing your friends reaction when they smoke some of your own stuff:).....none of my buddies here know i grow, but think i have the best hook up ever:)lol......do me a favor bro and let me know when you start yoour new journal....consider me subd already:)lol

Yep OLS grown buds are superior to all other buds I've ever tried. Even not so great strains end up awesome. The only problem is trying to keep it around before the next crop is due lol. :Namaste::thumb:
