GDB: Old Dog -- New Tricks

Hello growers and Happy Sunday.

So according to my count, which takes into account the International Timeline, it's Day 2 for the New Trick girls.

Proud papa is still stretching folks' patience with baby pics. šŸ™‚

Solo pics in Solo cups!

Thanks Smoke. :thanks:

Thanks con. I hope they stay that way.

Thanx Shed.

An aside: My grandmother used to have me eat some Vick's Vaporub when I was an ailing child. Later on in life when I had my own ailing child I wanted to do the same for him. Mrs. GDB, of course, objected. She showed me on the jar where it said the product was not for internal use. I relented and just came to terms with the fact that my wife is not a smart as my grandma was.

Thanx Carcass!

If it does that means I will too! :Rasta:

Thanks Regrowth. We'll find out together how they perform!

I don't know what lines you're referring to Abs. There is no layering in the cups just Lush soil, and it's so porous that I didn't even add perlite.

Yes, fabric pots will sit on the bases.

Glad you had that encounter Ms. Carmen and welcome to the dog pound!

Not quite, Stone.

The CL had a headstart on the others. She surfaced (root-first) on Feb. 11th. By the 13th she was growing right side up. But because all the other seeds I had buried along with the CL failed, I dropped more seeds on the 15th. Then the Hash Lover emerged on the 18th; the Blue Cindy on the 19th, and; the Lemon Bubble on the 20th.

My "fuzzy" method of counting days can lead to confusion initially, but down the road it will matter not!

Thanks GV! What is this "dark side" you speak of? :Rasta:

Thanks Smoke. I seldom kill 'em if I can get 'em going! šŸ™‚

Thanks for stopping by and have yourselves a peaceful and pleasant Sunday.

PEACE
Phase 1 looking good can't wait to see what you have planned for phase 2

First off, congrats on that excellent multi-quote. I am a bit confused as you'll see below:

That's my first confusion as days in Los Angeles move forward.

Second confusion is I thought this was a coco grow. Or are you starting in soil and going to coco on transplant?

:thanks:
:ciao:

Your First Confusion:

You started that International Timeline stuff. Don't ask me to explain it! :Rasta:

Your Second Confusion:

Yes, I'm starting them in soil and then moving to coco. My germination issues nudged me to put the seedling in Lush soil in order to ensure they got off to a good start!

And I should admit now that all four of these plants may not end up in pure coco. I've been looking at a product called Tupur by Royal Gold soils which is 35-45% coco fiber, aged forest products, perlite, basalt. The maker claims it's an ideal medium for watering up to "1-6 times a day." That would seem to be an ideal medium for a plant that's being fed all the time.

I haven't decided whether to go that route yet. But if I do, I've preempted your next confused state! šŸ˜

Thank you for clearing up the date thing. So at any moment there could be a 2-3 day spread in the age count, which makes life much easier!

This being a new tricks grow I absolutely don't want to influence you in any way, but I do think you should ask the manufacturer about whether you need to pH adjust your water like coco, or not like soil. Media with that much coco makes it harder to know if it's going to buffer the pH or not.

Yes and yes to your last sentence!

Good looking out, Shed. But I'm on it!

As stated on their web site:

"As a coco fiber based soilless medium, it requires high levels of calcium and magnesium to unlock its true potential."

Due to the phrase: "coco fiber based soilless medium" I plan to regulate the Ph of what goes in (IF I use it).

Thanks for clearing up the confusion had me scared to answer your question for a second but shed misses nothing! šŸ¤£

then moving to coco.
This my friend is the dark side! šŸ¤£

Alrighty then, Greenvein. I didn't know that!

I hope I get the power to choke folks, hands-free! šŸ˜

Hello grow gang and welcome to yet another grow.

I'll be trying a few different things this time around, just like an old dog learning new tricks!

I plan to do a phased grow. Phase I will be 4 plants in my 5x5 tent. Phase II, beginning about a month into Phase I, will be 2-3 plants in my 4x4.

The line-up for Phase I is set and is above ground:

Left to right:

Blue Cindy, Lemon Bubble, Cosmic Lights & Hash Lover

Per the breeders:

Blue Cindy:

G13 Labs is thrilled to have bred this superior cannabis strain. Blue Cindy

from its ancestors. Due to its delightful taste, rapid growth, power and
stability it will definitely catch your eye. Grown under optimal conditions this
beauty can yield a massive 550gr/m2 and 700 gr/plants outdoor.

Needless to say, their ā€œCinderellaā€ produces thick resinous buds, doused
with glistening trichomes. Its distinctive flavour is crisp with a hint of sweet
pineapple and forest fruit back notes. You can notice the slight yet ubiquitous
pine and citrus notes on the exhale. Euphoric effect goes into general state of a
psychedelic high that lasts. Blue Cindy is a variety that will give you energy,
therefore it is ideal for any time of the day, as with every puff you will have
more power to work or do ordinary household duties. Surely it will be a perfect
option for the evening with friends with whom you can appreciate its unique
taste and aroma.

Lemon Bubble (Pheno Finder Seeds)

To obtain Lemon Bubble a selected pheno of the Super Lemon Haze from Greenhouse Seeds
has been crossed with male SilverBubble. The result is a lovely citrus lemon tasting
bud with silver/haze undertones. The pheno selected for this fem version was selected
for its lovely flavour.

--------------------------------

Cosmic Lights (New420Guys Seeds)

Cosmic Lights Feminized is a cross between Northern Lights and G13 Hashplant from
Sensi Seeds. She smells of pine and lemony citrus and tastes like it smells.
It apparently likes to grow with a lot of purple hue as well. The indica high is
a creeper, coming up slowly, eventually hitting smokers with a heavy feeling of
total relaxation. Patients look to Cosmic Lights for severe pain, nausea, and
appetite loss. Also, it is good for stress relief and insomnia. It is also good
general relief for PTSD.

Flowering period is 8 to 9 weeks.

---------------------------------

Hash Lover (Freedom of Seeds)

Hash Lover cannabis seeds is a strain for those who truly love a hashy taste.
Hash Lover was originally produced from a Hash Plant x Northern lights
#1 hybrid and produces seriously resinous buds. For a deep and very pleasant
stone Hash Lover will deliver a long lasting cruising high with a delicious
hashish taste. Very fast Flowering finish Indoor 45 - 50 days.

------------------------------

I'll provide more info. as to what I'm planning in the coming days.

Right now, I just want to make sure those babies get off to a good start!

----------------------------------

I hope you'll have time to stop by sometimes.

PEACE
Right on with the hash lovers strain that sounds like a winner i had just the plain ole hash plant I miss that one Barney's has them in regular beans I've had it my cart several times But changed my miy and when i do have the hankering for it it's always sold out

I'm a little late joining this grow but I'm an old dog that would like to learn new tricks. In fact I have those self-watering bases on my wish list but was a little afraid to pull the trigger to purchase. Now I'll have a chance to see someone's experience with them. Not ready to try coco yet but the more I see someone else try it will build up some confidence to try. If I may, I'll pull up a chair and keep a close eye on how it goes.

Post all the pics you want. I love them. :circle-of-love:

You're certainly welcome here @BiggMakk!

There are a few other old dogs that hang around sometimes.

We all just do what old dogs do! :Rasta:

Sorry I'm late. Congrats on finally getting 4 seeds to sprout. Like the others, Blue Cindy sounds like one I would like best.

I'm planning on growing hydroponically going forward so I will watch your coco grow with a lot of interest.
