High Brix

What strain is that one Doc? It looks like a heavy weight all ready!:thumb:

It's a stabilized cross of a really strong Afghani and old school Herijuana. I've mentioned it in the past before, I think....but I've got a very fortunate situation where I have access to some really amazing genetics from a true Nor Cal growing legend.

I've grown several of them and have a few that I've added into the rotation, Lemon Thai and this one for sure.

That plant was untopped. I topped the others, but the untopped plant has a really impressive main cola. I'll get some pics of it real soon. I'm looking at maybe 6 oz. from that plant. It's really thriving in the high brix environment.

Regarding the bales of PRO-MIX "HP", are you using/recommending the product that's pre-inoculated with G. intraradices, or have you doctored your amendment with a homespun alchemy of super-hip endomycorrhizae tailored to the straight PRO-MIX "HP"? I'm trying to figure out where your Vesicular-Arbuscular Mycorrhizae (VAM) are coming from.

VAM are coming from the root inoculate. It's mainly rock powders, critters, some kelpy/seacreatury stuff that looks like sand and smells a bit like a frat party the next morning. This is used in addition to what's in the ProMix.

Hey Doc, Happy Holidaze!!! :) I have a question to you that I have been racking my brain over and was wondering what your input is. I am getting a second grow tent and I am looking into new lighting solutions for my grows. Overall the number 1 thing I am concerned with is High Brix quality but also things like yield and plant health as well as electric consumption do matter. In the mindset of high brix, In your opinion what lighting source would be the best option? (sulphur plasma, magnetic induction, LED, HPS, CMH, combos?)

Since in high brix we work so hard to provide the perfect soil food web for our plants to grow in, but considering different wavelengths or lack of certain ones can certainly influence plants growth patterns, growth characteristics and even brix as so far my research is showing me. I found on a website for a magnetic induction light that shows that brix levels were in fact effected by the light source and even though the information was on a induction website the ratings went like this (#1 highest brix induction, 2nd was led and 3rd was HPS) and induction seemed to produce a much higher brix then the rest. I feel that these plants since grown for hundreds of thousands of years under the sunlight spectrum they have become adapted to these wavelenghts and this would produce the highest brix, therefore for those that are using only HPS and or LED that may not be full spectrum, are these growers cutting their potential short? I understand that PAR is used by LED companies to formulate their ratios of blue to red, but it seems much more in light is important such as IR and UV and hosebomber posted an article how green light triggers shade syndrome where the plants will enlongate to reach for the light inducing stretch. So it seems to me our PAR knowledge currently may not quite be on PAR with what plants like and by using these narrow band LED's, HPS, and even some other lighting types, are we all cutting ourselves short? I love my Ceramic Metal Halide which is closest match between PAR and Sunlight spectrum that I have found and so many love CFL buds quality, how important is Lighting to Brix levels and what would be the ideal light source, not including the sun?

I'm feeling quite wordy, just had a bowl 1/2 Jamaican Lambsbread, 1/2 Colombian Red....

If you read sailing magazines, or West Marine, you'll find they have all kinds of data about all kinds of anchors, which one holds better, how much chain to use, etc.

That's all well and good, but if you want to know what the best anchor really is.....you ask commercial fisherman, dive boats and people that sail extensively in the local waters. They almost always use the same anchor, and it's almost never the one rated "Best holding and resetting of all anchors tested" in the magazine.

So, if you want to know what the best light is, find out what the pro's are using. People who depend on growing crops for a living almost always use HPS. I use HPS. There's a reason for that.

Of course, nothing beats a climate controlled, black-boxed, greenhouse.....but that's not practical.

In a small tent, I think I'd look at CMH as well.

merry christmas DOC. love it when you make things so easy to understand.

You're welcome! It's my pleasure.

Here are some pics of what's going on in the flowering side of the garden.

Plant with K-mag added. It reminds me of one of my old organic grows. 2 tblspns of K-mag took a High Brix grow right into a medium/low brix grow. Yeah, there's frosting and dense nugs. It smells really good too and someone is going to like it. It's top shelf, yada yada......but it's not high brix. I screwed up. Don't make the same mistake I made! Brix on this is 12. Yuck.

These are grown by the book! Please note a bit of yellowing on one.....not actually yellowing, more like Lime Greening......anyways, this is happens right after a watering sometimes. It has to do with growing in small containers, they'll green up again in a day or two, and the bud production never slows down. This is a perfect time to spray with "Stress" which comes with my kit.

Brix on these girls is 17, holding steady. The only difference between these and the one above is 2 tblspns of K-mag. Don't fuck with the recipe!

What up doc? Got a question concerning the sail sample. Should I send just virgin pro mix or should I blend the EArthworm castings in before I send the sample?

Beautiful plants. All the high tech "poop" :cheesygrinsmiley: has really paid off and extra bonus those look like they won't need much trimming!!!

No poop here bro! Squished fish juice, Chilean nitrate, and rocks. That's all.

Hey Doc,
Gave you +reps on the beautiful plants!!!
I do have a question for you. What day of flower are those plants at?

They're just about day 35 or so. Halfway done. I'm scheduled to start checking triches in 4 weeks.

They are going to get massive by then. They are so damn dense at this point, they should be very good yielders too. The big one is an easy 6 oz at this point.

Doc,
always love the budporn. i really see the science and work you have put in to your recipe. only adding a lil k mag and looks like half the yield! amazing work. True master

Hey I go from 1 gal to 5 gal in veg then transplant to 10 gal 1-2 weeks before I go into flower is this going to be a problem? I know I will only get 4 plants out of the mix but do you see any other issues arising because of this. And you may have said it earlier but what are you averaging in a 7 gal pot?
