This morning the cloner was at 80deg, so I got the chiller that I purchased for my veggie grow and hooked that up to the cloner. It works well, I set it to 67 for the clones.
I mixed the water with half the minimum strength of zone and half strength clonex solution. I didnt use any gel as I suspected that actually hurt last time. Last time it lookd like roots only formed above where they were dipped. The cloner water was:
6.3 pH
340 ppm
The main garden 6.2 pH and 1500ppm, I added 1tbsp pH down, and 100ml of sugaree (I only gave them a half dose a week ago). This left us at:
5.9 pH
1640 ppm

So some good and some bad news today.
The good news is one of the plants is finished, I noticed the pistils were turning orange last week and I took a sample leaf to check under the microscope. It was 90% cloudy 5% clear and 5% amber, I recently read an article that said TCH content was at its peak when there were just a few ambers, that and I ran out of meds a couple weeks back so I decided to harvest it.
There is still some discoloration on the roots from the root rot, but the new roots are nice and white when you look close. The bad news is there was some black slime in the middle of the root mass when I removed it from the net cup.
And here are some pics of the buds (22g wet weight):

That explains the crazy pH swings. Those are some sick looking roots (not sick in a good way, but on the verge of death sick). Next grow you will have it all dialed in and your plants will be 4 times heavier.

That is the crazy thing, all the plants are doing so much better. I wonder if that black mass is what cause that plant to finish quicker, because it was under so much stress. The pH swings have stopped, so I hope that shit whatever it is is dead. It smelled like compost that was ready to use.. not rotting but rotted? If that makes sense to anyone.

Clones are looking good but no roots (wouldn't expect them yet) but also no yellow leaves. Plants are looking great, densing up and stinking!

What you said about your timing to harvest with the thic's. High times grows all suggest the same very few amber. Why pick rotted fruit? Makes sense and when ya look at a amber it looks all sucked up anyways. From now on I'm pulling as soon as amber's start to show. That is a ugly looking mess under that plant. Buds on top look fine. Myself I haven't ever had to deal with hydro problems. The 7-8 grows I did in hydro worked out fine. But then mine were just straight drip ring hydro's with the standard Nert's GH Flora. Hey I look at it this way, if all these major hydro places, lettuces tomatoes ect, mostly all trust GH I guess for my redneck grows I'll stick with it. Best Dude Keepem Green

Yea I read that too but didn't say the name I thought it was not allowed. I plan on doing the same. I have a true microscope to check them also, makes life easier.

I tested 2 additional plants under the true microscope. I have to say the USB one says 400X and this one says 30X and the true scope has much better images. I have put a digital adapter for it on my xmas list so I can let all of you in on the amazing pics.
The first plant I looked at had maybe 3% Amber. My method is to count all the trichs in a field by marking each of the 3 types. The second I only found one amber on the whole leaf. I am cutting a small leaf that comes out of the bud. It is interesting to see the different types of trichs - I only count the stalked capitate one of course.
Harvest date is set for the 23rd but it looks like they may finish early, the only reason I dont chop today is for fear I am losing weight or trichs by taking them early. Is it certain that no more trichs grow after ambers are seen? As norcaliwood stated that article says that waiting for ambers is flawed logic...

Looking good Maer, I don't wait for ambers, I like them earlier.....I like the use of duct tape, underappreciated by growers.

Yea, lol. I ran out of white... Next grow I plan to spackle all the holes I have drilled so far.. or at least seal them better I would like to start from a clean surface and drill just the holes I need.

No duct tape or PVC holding up plants. I am going to try a little hydroton in the cups next time, I am hoping it keeps the roots from being so dense in the cup.
