Hey there, looks like a great start! My little ones are just a tad bit younger than yours, and I am doing bubbles for the first time this cycle too! I like sitting on the floor, so you'll find me right over here in the corner!

Looks like they are off to a good start. Sorry about that Church seed! I just started one of them this week. The seed sank instantly just like the ones you had, but popped up just fine so far.
That's good to hear. I've got three fem Church seeds left, so I won't give up on it. I'll give that strain another try on my second grow!
You don't mind if I put my Lazy-boy right here..OK?

Cool, it sounds like I've got the tubes and cubes where they need to be now. Better late than never. I've liked learning from my beginner's flubs, surprisingly. It makes me want to do more and think about why I'm doing things.
I appreciate your encouragement, Roseman. I've had a ton of fun so far, and I have so much respect for your tutorial as a labor of love. It was invaluable in getting me started. That, and the Deep Water Culture bud porn. Sign my closet up!

1/09: 1/7: Day 18, Day 13 out of rockwool for SLH and WC, Day 7 for BK
pH: 6.3, Water temp 70.3F
Air temp 78.2F, RH 31%
PPM: 350 - At this point, I'm adding equal parts FF Grow Big and Big Bloom, still working my way toward full nutes. @ 1/4 nutes now.
White Castle baby - she's the only plant with no roots out of the cup. I can see a couple nicely sized ones growing along the inside of the net cup close to the botttom, though. So close!
Super Lemon Haze Baby - She's been leaning over, so you can see how I have her propped a little on hydroton for support. Still gorgeous, otherwise. I'm going to have to spend some thought on what my support strategy is going to be as she gets bigger if the SLH's going to be an anorexic model instead of a husky girl like the Bubba Kush!
The SLH also has roots sprouting out all over the bottom of the cup now.
Bubba Kush Baby - Imagine my surprise that this little girl already has a root in the water!
A long skinny BK root that swims 2" in the water!
The last pics are of the whole green family with the lights at regular height. The T-5 tubes are about 2" away from the older two plants. I'm still amazed at how cool these lights run.
I'd turned my reservoir 180 degrees to switch up which plants were closest to the 2700K tube. I drain and replenish the water tomorrow, so I'll turn off the T-5 long enough to switch the placement of the tubes instead. I meant to have the 2700K in one of the middle slots instead of on the end.

When you list that 6.3 PH, is that what it reads before you adjust it, or is that what you are adjusting it to? I know the PH swings a little through the day, so I was just wondering what end of the spectrum that 6.3 is on.

The pH I'm listing is after my adjustments. If I make any pH changes I'm trying to keep them within a 0.5 range over a 24 hour period. I'm currently seeing @ a +0.2 or +0.3 climb each day. The highest my pH has been at any point prior to adjusting so far is 6.5

Today was my second res change. I rotated my T-5 tubes so the 2700K is now in a middle slot.

Feeling like I was playing Jenga or Operation, I carefully freed the roots and put the tube back against the base of the rockwool. Now they can reach for the water all they want!

Next report in a couple of days unless something dramatic happens.

I've tried to be a good student since there's a lot of great grow information out there about Deep Water Culture. Some things have stuck in my brain better than others. Like every time I adjust pH, I see the warning in bold print DO NOT RIDE THE pH ROLLER COASTER.
Something I meant to include in my report today - the Fox Farm nutes have been good at the lower doses for pH. When I take a gallon and replenish a gallon each day, the nutes make the pH just acidic enough to lower the res pH a couple of tenths. At higher concentrations it'll take a little more effort, but I've gotten away with not needing pH Up or pH Down so far except for when I'm doing a full res change, and staying pretty relaxed and roller coaster free.

Good job...don't sweat the PH junk like you said. It's all over rated. Until someone can present to me some bud that is "PH Balanced" and it smokes so much better than mine, I am not buying it. There is not one single day that our beloved plant would be riding the same PH as the previous day in the ground...NEVER!!! Last time I smoked, I got real stoned..so there is my 2 cents...about all its worth to some, but ok!!...;-)

I'm using equal parts Fox Farm Grow Big and Big Bloom right now. I'm at .57 EC, about 1/4 nutes. I'm gradually increasing the concentration daily as long as the plants keep looking happy. Also, I finally read my FF nutes schedule for comprehension and I should be using twice the amount of Big Bloom to Grow Big in the nutes I add, so I'll be using that ratio in the nutes I give over the next two weeks.
