Always have slim stem and then it goes wider

You mean the main stem just before the first 2 true leaves?

if so this is normal I usually end up with having my main stem out the ground sometimes 1/4" thinner than past the first set of leaves.

but most plants I have seen had stem normal looking
so why ours are thinner?
