First Attempt - $100 For 4 Lights In A 2'x3' Area

Ok guys, this is my progress so far. I grew random seeds that I had left over. They were germinated in water and then moved to a mix of miracle grow potting soil and worm castings. They have since been moved up to 2 larger containers. From the 4 I planted, I had one clear male and what I think are three females. Its time to move them to the final 5 gal container and to upgrade my lighting as well as do some cloning. I am very happy with the progress so far. I did manage the dry them out for a day by mistake and also managed to give them some light heat stroke but they seem to be doing ok so far given that....

Lights are 2 of these overhead at about 2 inches, they were $38 on amazon

2 of these for side lighting $21 each

I will probably try a bit of both and see how it goes when I switch to 16/8

Ok guys, I swapped the 2 grow lights I had for a single 400w COB setup and kept the white floods as side lighting. Moved them up to 5gal pots and started the 16/8. Of my 3 presumed female plants, one seems to be a hermaphrodite and autoflowering. I have removed all the pollen sacks from it and am monitoring it carefully. The plants grew around 2 inches with their first does of 16 under the 400w. I have also taken cutting from each to attempt to clone them.
