First Grow

Setup a make shift hydro propagation for clones so I can find out the sex of the plants. Lights on 12/12 and the 295gph air pump is running to the 16" airstone 24/7 until I can get some sexed clones.

7 weeks today

all the plants are switched over to 5 gallon buckets. ended up pulling the main branches flat (horizontally) to make room for new growth, and it worked out great!

Each plant has about 8-12 main tops, really liking this method. I'm going to wait 3 weeks after transplanting to go to flower (10 weeks veg).

Also, picked up some 1000w fixtures and ballasts, along with some 4ft- 4bulb fluorescent fixtures today for flowering/cloning.

in total for all 4 I paid $110, I had to scoop em up and now I have all the lighting I need for the next 6 months. SCORE.

2/15 2019

got pre flower sexy parts! I trimmed up some pan leaves today and found 4 females and a bunch of 'maybe' females. 3 look like males but I'm going to give them a few more days before I kill em.

hard to see in the pictures but under 120x magnification there are white hairs on 4 of them :) I'll see if I cant get a magnified pic later!

2/19 2019

took a closer look at the plants,

found 3 males

and 6 females!

6 left to sex out yet but numbers are good.

Also- had a heat problem in my tent. with the 1000w it was reaching temps of 87° with little humidity and lots of airflow. I decided to tear down the tent and set them up in the room itself.

temps are now down to 72-78 during the day. I have a small heater that turns on at the same time the nights go off to keep it around 65-67 at night.

Looking good.

Just noticed that sweet DIY grow box you constructed partially from newspapers... man, that's ingenious.

Good call taking down the tent, 87 is a bit warm.

2/24

I let the plants recoup for a week after the switch to 12/12 and today I trimmed up the undergrowth.

running a 400w and 1000w until the second 1000w gets here. Bad weather may complicate things a bit...

Is this Male or female? it looks like a pollen sack but it has white pistils coming out of it. Hermie?

Could just be a calax. I'd keep a close eye on it. Didn't you say you were from the mitten. I saw I thread here called Michigan growers unite. Might be something you would be interested in

I've seen those, what I call false seed pods or what usually turns out to be a caylax.

Males in my experience are pods in clusters and pretty obvious. Hermies or nanas are very distinct yellow-ish green banana looking things that are usually found in a semi mature bud. They can be tough to find and like to play hide n seek, but stick out once you've seen them enough. And always come with a sigh....

Stay vigilant. Good luck ;)

I had one of six clones start doing that on the lower half shortly after the top had formed flowers. I chopped it down fwiw.

Here's the Michigan roll call thread
