Germination methods?

It looks like 2 of the three I planted, sandwiched between about 3/4" wet chunks of paper towel, have sprung. The third for some reason got dropped down about a 1" deep hole in the medium - still waiting for her!!

Since I’m growing in hydro with clay pebbles as a top. I find it easier this way. When I first germinated seed directly in my buckets it was ridiculous difficult, digging in through the pebbles searching for a sprout as gently as I can XD. So now I just sprout, wait till they have a nice sized root and place directly into the clay and cover the Stem up to the first set of leaves.

I think Scottie has to wait for the permafrost!!! That being said, that sure looks like a long root to try to fiddle with, and with my habit of dropping things they would be doomed in my hands.
But I am sure glad of all the tips I'm getting -
