I have gotten better response here than just posting on my grow journal, which I suppose when have time I will need to backfill. Anyway...I have some pics. They don't look quite ready to me considering what I have read, but I figured I will throw these out there and get what feedback I can.

Thanks

The pistils going burnt orange in colour give some indication of the ripening of the trichomes.

Each strain or variation of such can be different to some degree !

Ya got a few weeks to go, a lot of trics still clear even tho some those may go cloudy during the slow air dry 'n' curing process.

Pictures 1 to 3 looks like the plant is still trying to fatten up.
Pictures 4 to 10 look like they're in their last week. (IMO)
Edit: I best add, I don't wait for to much Amber.

I am far far from an expert, but from what I understand u r looking for the tricomes to start to turn a amber color, if left to long where they go dark amber it makes the bud just put u to sleep when smoked, but I don’t know If I’m right or any of the science of it but that is what I have taken from what I have read:hmmmm:

Ate these plants the same strain ?

I think i'm looking at 2 different plants here...

Ya got a lot of yellowing of fan leafs with some burnt orange trichomes on one plant you could push that another week or so.

But the other seems like it needs longer with the pistils vastly still white, in less i'm wrong and it is a pheno type occurrence with particular strain !

I have been spending more time asking queation s than updating journal. Two are FemAuto Good Shit, and two are FemAuto Amnesia Express. They all got stretched in the beginning, one quite a bit so, also there was the water ph before or after MegaCrop thing, and here we are.

Thanks,,

So, as I get closer do I give them staight H2O?

No, make sure to feed them as the schedule calls for right up until the end. Not giving them nutes at the end really takes a chunk off your harvest.
I agree with BigDannel here, Give them enough nutrients to keep them growing, 1 week or two without anything is a lot of money on Hydro, best get some weight from it, if anything ween them off slowly and possibly last day or 2 before the dry and chop give water only. I wait for all the pistols to form into the bud, takes a while, you will def have amber if you decide to wait for this. Cheers Feeling Good, First Call Out. Lol

Not an expert here either but my reading leads me to...Typically new pistils are white and fluffy as the plant is still growing bud, but when pistils shrink, or crinkle up and turn color it’s a sign you are nearing the end. How long that will be depends on what percentage of clear, cloudy or amber you are seeking.

With gardens or fruit trees not all of the fruit ripens at the same time, they stagger the harvest over weeks to get best ripeness. Different strains and how the plant was trained can make a difference in harvest technique. Compare a small auto plant shaped in standard Christmas tree style versus a large plant with a big canopy of giant colas, mid growth nuggets and lower larf bud. The small Christmas tree will probably need to be harvested all at once since it’s a compact plant. But the plant with big canopy could be harvested in stages, take the giant colas and let the middle nuggets and lowers grow for another week.

Check and compare the trichs from different areas on the plant not just the top colas. I’m not saying you should do any of this, just consider your options. Measure twice, cut once and all that jazz.

Very nice looking plants you've got there. Don't rush it & be sorry you did. In a week or two they will be ready. They look really close now so to be sure to get the best quality you can give it the extra time needed. Have the buds quit swelling up ? They put on a lot of weight & stickiness during the last 2 weeks so keep that in mind.

Pleas let me add this about trichomes/terpens. check-out at strain called Sugar Cane" (platimunxSlurricane) -- at week 5 (start of) the of the whole plant was covered by trichomes (stalk/fan leaves. ect) mean it looked ready to harvest !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dam can't waite till week 8 (harvest) NEVER< NEVER have I seen trichomes like this !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
