If a seed floats?

Hi just wondering if a seed floats does that mean its no good/not viable?

I received some from a seed bank today.

Its still good half of mine float and half don't and all good here

They don't always sink right away, takes awhile sometimes (as in quite a few hours). I haven't had any that wouldn't sink after 12 hours but maybe at that point it might be a sign that it not mature, and I have had some that popped and some that didn't out of the ones I have tried to germinate.

I just took off 7 pounds off ,of ones that floated

Ok thanks for the reassurance guys ill see what happens with it Can you tell if it'll sprout after the initial 16 hrs in water.... then i am doing paper towel method

7 pounds nice! How many did you do?

I usually poke them down if they're not sinking by themselves. Wouldn't worry too much about it.

Thanks guys i got it to sink late last night and have since transferred to paper towel tubs
