Jon’s 3 Autoflower - 3 Pounds Attempt Grow

Hiya @Emilya Green - I finally lurked around your grows a little bit last night. Very impressive as always. Never seen white hairs so long and spindly and full like that one girl before. Looks almost like thistle. Beautiful work. Hey so you’re the only person I know who has also grown the Banana Sherbet. I was wondering how yours came out and if my review reflects what you got from yours? Since you grew yours in soil with @GeoFlora Nutrients, if you are so inclined it might be a cool contrast for people who are interested in growing the strain. Thanks, hot female original Sensei!
I did enjoy the Banana Sherbet and as a result only have a few bowls of it left. It tested out at 24% THC and it felt like it. I ended up with 5 or so ounces dry off of that plant, and probably could have gotten more if I had put it in a 7g instead of the 5g that I ended up with. I grew it under my Nextlight 420h and was also impressed by this light and its ability to produce tight hard buds. The @GeoFlora Nutrients worked perfectly for this lady and she never gave me any indication of deficiency or lack of development. Out of all the plants and varieties I was growing at the time, this one plant ended up being the best plant of the grow, and the best quality product out of the entire run. I would definitely run BS again and would love to compare and contrast that run with a new one in a SIP container.

White Widow

Not today. Three more days I’m thinking. Maybe two. We are almost 100% fully white with not a single amber in sight. Nice, cooperative trichomes for a change. I can’t stand the usual deal with some half filed with white, some all white, and some amber. Just give me definites. I would prefer all completely white before seeing a single amber. This plant is close to that. Heh.

The buds almost look like nice tight buds too. This weed is very dense. Tons of small, pointed pyramids up and down the stems. The trim, I can see, is going to be a pain in the ass. And she will have her share of flarf. This one kind of exploded on me before I could do anything. She’s jammed in the middle pretty tightly. Those three fans at the base of the plant are saving me from certain bud rot, along with around 40% RH. Lower than I’d like, but necessary in this case.

She has developed some color after all. The tips of her top sugars are all purple. The bud has these light pink hairs that are subtle but gorgeous. The bud should end up looking like awesome old school green bud. Yay!

In this post we finish taking the pot apart and have a looksie inside. Again my mind is blown. You’ll see what I mean, I don’t believe this requires any description.

In breaking down this pot I was reminded of something I think is important. And once again the credit goes to @Emilya Green. GARDEN LIKE A BOSS. It’s one of her signature one-liners, and it was perhaps the very first concept I absorbed and adopted from her. It’s so simple. If you’re going to do this, do it all the way, and learn to do it right. Don’t cut corners. Don’t be fricking LAZY. Work your garden like it matters. I was of that ilk when I met Emilya, but to have it reinforced and focused on my gardening - four words of wisdom I adopted as my own. Thanks E.

But reality is that as you go and you learn more and get better, many things that you attended to religiously at first start to become second nature. You become focused on other things. Little things that seem to be irrelevant sometimes fall by the wayside.

As I broke up the root ball of the pseudo hempy pot I found several pockets of clumped together perlite dust. It’s what happens if you get LAZY and don’t rinse your perlite first. Especially towards the bottom of the bag. The dust ends up attracting to itself, and over time it clumps up. Nothing gets through it - it becomes unusable dead space in your vessel. Is it a big deal? No. We are talking three or four pockets about 2” all around if they were spherical. No big deal. But just as the overturning of Roe v Wade forces you to ask “well what’s next?,” finding this garbage in my pots had me asking the same question. This is unacceptable.

That was pretty subtly tucked in there, eh?

In any event, that kind of stuff tends to refocus me. As it has here. And as I have a Mandarin Zkittlez to up pot for the outdoor grow, I’m going to go rinse some perlite.

Heh.

Say hello to my lovely newest friend, the first plant of the outdoor grow…Mandarin Zkittlez. She’s an Ethos genetic. Photoperiod. I just up potted her to the 7 you see in the picture, from her 1/2 gallon starter pot. Note: sorry PhatSack, the Velcro thing is actually kind of a pain in the ass and liable to do more damage than the time or ease it supposedly saves. Especially in a pot as small as the 1/2 gallon starter pot. 1/2 gallon is great, as is the cloth - but lose the dumb Velcro. Lmao. See, if you guys were sponsors I’d never be so blunt - but since you’re not yet cool enough to join us, well, there’s the real deal on your pots. I’ll do it the old fashioned way. Nice try though.

All I’ve done to her so far is top once above the 4th node and chop off the entire first node.

I guess it’s time to start the outdoor grow journal. I’ll provide a link here later.

Heh.

Shout out to @Prescription Blend nutrients. I cannot seem to grow a plant that doesn’t love them. The system is as close to flawless in terms of performance as I’ve used (non-organic). This really only means that in my opinion it easily beats Fox Farms, Canna, and Blue Planet. Those are the four I’ve used and it’s not even close. Blemishes seem to have become a thing of the past. Development is rapid and the plants are almost always a lush, semi-kind-of shiny green. Only the Watermelon WeddingCake needed additional Mg in flower, every other plant I’ve grown has been start to finish only the system as prescribed (my additions off the PB chart are not at all necessary, if I didn’t use them the plants still turn out great). One of the easier things about the system is that once you get to week 3 in veg the mix doesn’t change until you flip to flower. That can be a long time sometimes, and since it never changes it becomes automatic and very fast. The same thing happens after a few weeks in flower. The nutes also mix very easily. Additionally, in terms of Ph-ing, I go to 5.8, and my tap water is around 6.8-7.2. Most of the time a mixed gallon of these nutes requires nothing more than around 4 drops of Ph Down to get to 5.8. Very easy for those of us who Ph. Again, it becomes automatic.

But what I like about them the best is how completely neutral the system is in terms of the end taste of the bud. They don’t affect it at all it seems. When I smoke PB bud, I feel like I am tasting only the bud itself, and whatever that strain has to offer. Contrast this with, for example, Fox Farms, which many of us use or have used, especially soil growers. If you have, you are probably familiar with the “Fox Farms taste.” Plants grown in that system always have a characteristic taste. It’s almost like you can tell a Fox Farms grow as readily as you can taste the organic in an organic grow. (Note: I like both the FF taste and the organic taste, just saying they are a thing, and PB nutes don’t seem to have that thing…which is nice….feels more pure or something).

The system seems to perform just as well in flower as it does in veg. I’ve used it in both soil and coco, and it works very well in both.

Just a spectacular system for my money.

Hope you enjoyed this unsolicited promo.

Running her in the 5x5, which is being used ambiently. Here’s the almost perfect veg environment for our Mandarin Zkittlez.

White Widow

Check her out just fattening up like a champ! This girl just keeps getting frostier, fatter, more subtly colorful, and above all, more DENSE. Is this strain supposed to make rock hard buds? I have legit rocks here. My finger tips are in shock. What a treat when you can run the light at 100% for the entirety of flower.

Trichome Check

This is how all 20 or so pictures I just st took of trichomes looked. In Jonland, that means this girl comes down either tomorrow or Wednesday. I can’t wait. She smells so pungent. Like sharp, citrusy, lemony, hazey gloriousness.

Forbidden Runtz
Yield Report

I said I bet she’s barely 6 ounces and I was pretty close. So here’s the final yield for the Forbidden Runtz: 163 grams, ie, 5.8 ounces. Of buds like these. I’ll take it.

So that puts us here towards our goal, lol:

Banana Sherbet: 317 grams/11.2 ounces
Forbidden Runtz: 163 grams/5.8 ounces

The Watermelon WeddingCake ought to bring that average up some. Heh. And if we are super duper lucky the White Widow will round it out and get us close. So four autos instead of three. Shoot me.

Here’s the pics.

My buddy who has seen all my plants and loves my weed saw it today and said “whoa, now that is exotic! And man does it stink!” I was psyched.
