KCMP Fall 2015 Grow! - All LED - Coco/Perlite - Ebb & Flow

Well these ladies have decided that they are THIRSTY.

Changed out the res on Monday and it is already down to 50%. That comes out to roughly 20G / 4 Plants / 4 Days = 1.25G per plant / day

The coco has also been getting a little dry, so they are now up to 6 feedings each day, starting at lights on every 2hrs.

My take on that nute comparison is that the author had some expectations that Dyna-Gro would win, but IMO he did a decent job of stating unbiased facts / observations (my $0.02). Unfortunately the pics from that thread didn't show up for me (at least on my phone)...

I've also read that Dyna-Gro is the "standard" nutrients used in academia because they contain 16 essential elements. Maybe there are other brands which do as well, but I haven't seen them... Anywho, I'll get off my Dyna-Gro horse and hope that I've at least tempted your interest in them :)

Ha -- if you did a comparison I'd be forever in your debt!

After reading through that that thread I certainly am tempted. :hmmmm:

I'm the often referred to roommate (I think my hand showed up in a previous grow thread). I haven't been involved too much, aside from babysitting. Next round I'm going to try and program in automation for all of this.

The only other thing I've done is take photos.

Awesome summit pic... I'm going to have to pick your brain on some hiking spots in this area!!

Great close-up pic sir!!! I'm super interested in your automation efforts and I hope you guys can "keep me in the loop" on how it goes / works. As I mentioned to KCMP I was looking at coding up something for a micro-board (raspberry pi or parrallela), but decided it would be just too much work for me :)

Time for an update!

As usual all of the plants are doing extremely well and starting to suck up so much water I may need to shorten my res changes to 5 days, or add additional water and nutrients mid week. Based on my last calculations each plant is drinking 1.5 gallons a day which depletes my 40g res rather quickly.

It is almost like these ladies are daring me to overfeed them, so I went ahead and cranked everything up with this last res swap. I am now running the AN Bloom formula at 115%. I do not even have the slightest sign of burn on any leaf, and it looks like the minor phosphorous deficiency I saw last week corrected itself with a higher dose of Bloom formula.

Prior to reloading the res with new nutes I ran clearex through the system for an hour to remove any salt residue.

Current Res Mix

140L - Tap Water at PH of 7.4 and PPM of 17

150ml - Calimagic
300ml - AN Grow
500ml - AN Micro
650ml - AN Grow
175ml - Bud Candy
175ml - Big Bud
175ml - Bud Factor X
50ml - Mammoth P (my new favorite bennie)

This brings me to 1650ppm, 70 degrees F, PH @ 5.9

I have cut out the great white at this point to see exactly what this Mammoth P is made of. I have also started to foliar feed with Bud Factor X every 3 days immediately before lights off. I have already noticed a spike in resin / trichome production and all of the plants have an "oily" feel to them. Aromas are finally starting to show themselves but nothing spectacular yet. The Blue God, Grape Stomper OG, and Deadhead OG x Sourband are very sweet. The Amnesia Haze has a spicy and piney scent very reminiscent of Golden Goat.

I also began to give all of the plants a rather serious defol today which has really opened them up and revealed additional budsites.
..... I started to count colas today, and gave up when I hit 100. :yikes:........

Here are a few shots out of LED light about 80% through the defol. I still have a few leaves to remove but I am going to give them a day or so to recover.

I also took some time to look at my current ventilation system and made a few improvements. I am now running 460CFM out with a 260CFM booster fan 15 feet down the duct into the crawlspace below my grow room. This has been tremendous for temp regulation and I am now seeing 77F lights on, 65F Lights off.

I still have the ability to dial the heater down at night when it is time to let the plants build up some color.

That's all for now!

Your plants continue to impress me!! Awesome work!
:thumb:

Man, over 100 colas?! I wonder how long that'll take you to clean/trim up :)

So I have a question when/if you get time... You mentioned Mammoth P is your new favorite bennie and you are using it over Great White. In your opinion what are the pros/cons of Mammoth P vs Great White?

The Mammoth P is designed to make phosphorous more available to the plants so I think it is a better bennie for flowering. Now that they are in full bloom the plants do not seem to be focused on growing roots so I figured that the great white is no longer worth the expense.

I also remember reading that mycorrhizae becomes dormant when exposed to high levels of phosphorous, but I may be remembering that wrong. I still plan on using the great white during veg as it is absolutely awesome in the coco.

Day 29 Update

I figured it was about time to get a few bud shots up, so here is a current tour of the tent.

Grape Stomper OG
This plant decided it wanted to start smelling super sour this morning. It is very pungent and has a bit of a grape jolly rancher undertone. I am really liking this plant and want to get a hold of some seeds for future use. She also seems very far along for the quoted 9 week flower cycle.

DeadHead OG x Sourband
This one is not as far along as I would like for an 8 week flower. I really do not know much about the genetics but it appears that I have a very sativa leaning phenotype. Since this was a clone I am assuming that they selected it, but it does not seem to be bulking up yet. Worst case scenario it will be processed for BHO if the buds do not fluff up over the next few weeks. Anyone have experience with either of the parents?

Blue God
Bulking up in all her indica glory. I have yet to see any color on this plant but she still has another 4 weeks to go. Looking great and super sticky. Very sweet smell nothing specific yet.

Amnesia Haze
This plant is actually further along than I thought it would be for a 12 week Flower period. The piney scent has started to change and is very similar to oranges today. Lots of top colas and the buds are DENSE.

I am finally starting to see the slightest signs of burn on this plant. I knew that this would most likely happen as she requires less nutes than her neighbors. One of the downsides of multiple strains on the same flood table.

I have to say I think that the Bud Factor X is working. I have also been applying it in a foliar spray and these ladies are already loaded with trichs. Feel free to bring on all of the AN heat but I think that the current nutrient lineup has been serving me pretty well this round.

I will be out of town for about a week starting tomorrow, so the res will be changed and the tent set to full auto pilot for a few days.

Good lord you and your roommate are going to have a fun harvest! Loving the way the Blue God is looking

Problem is there will be 4 harvests! I really want to enter all of these ladies in for POTM but I really do not know how to photograph them properly since they are all clumped together. I have considered cutting the scrog out when Blue God is ready but I am worried that the plants are too reliant on the net for support,

Have you thought of tying the bigger colas first then cutting? Any others that need support after that you could tend to as you seem fit. That's my game plan for my scrog may be a pain in the ass but imo it'll be worth it for the later stages of flowering, you know easier to tend and get to.

Hey KCMP sorry been gone for a min, had some things come up. But dang did I miss some of the show or what!! Those girls look amazing, with bud sights every freakin where. Great work my man, also love the pic at the mountain, that is some gorgeous stuff. Like cogreen said thank you for the explanation on the bennies, I will have to take a look at mammothP.
I was wondering how are you mixing up the foliar spray? And do you spray on just leaves or both bud sites and leaves ?

Okay everyone back in town after a little work hiatus. The res sat unchanged for about 10 days which has been the longest period since a refresh. I returned to some VERY mild nutrient burn (which I attribute to a salt buildup) and some awesome bacteria growth in the res.

Everything was thoroughly sterilized and the plants were then given a flush with Clearex. The res was then reloaded with AN 3 part and boosters as usual.

Standby for a more in depth update later today.

Week 6 Update!

Okay everyone time the official week 6 update. All of the plants are doing very well but the Blue God and Grape Stomper x OG (my two early finishers) have started to fall over due to cola weight, so they were all tied up this evening. I also gave the entire tent a serious defoliation as leaf growth had simply gotten out of control. Now that the plants seem to be finished stretching, I have lowered the lights a bit. I have noticed the first few pistils starting to turn brown, but I think all of the plants have another swell in them before harvest.

Blue God is due for the chop in 2 weeks.

The tent is beyond stinky. Resin production is simply out of control and all of the flowers are glistening with very thick thricomes. There are also a few MONSTER colas starting to fill out.

Prepare for an onslaught of bud porn.

I am very interested in trying LA's backbuilding technique on a few of these. Any idea of they are ready based on the photos?
