pH is around 5.0 *to start*. I have not yet invested in a RO system, so I am using tap water, which locally has a pH of about 8-9. Technaflora nutrients are designed to be ran from pH 5.3 to 6.7, which is a very broad range compared to AN. This works very well for me, as my pH is tested with an old-school liquid test kit, rather than an electronic meter.
When I change my reservoir in my ebb and flow, I generally start the week out at a very low pH, typically around 5.0 - 5.4. In the first 24 hours after the change, the pH climbs back up to around 7-8. I then adjust back down to pH 5.0 and start the weeks watering cycles. Over the course of the week, the pH of the solution rises naturally as the plants feed off the nutrients and use water. The spent solution usually has a final pH of between 6.7 and 7.5. I check pH periodically throughout the week to make sure nothing crazy is going on, but I only have to pH down the water once at reservoir change. It is a beautiful thing. This nutrient system works well with the local tap, and the broad nutrient uptake range allows for a modest margin of error. I wasn't totally sold on Technaflora, but I think I may give them a fair chance. It seems that the majority of growers are using Advanced Nutrients, and quite a few of said majority enjoy hatin' on those of us who aren't.
Yes sir, you heard correctly!! 12/12 and flowering mix. I am probably going to finish the week with the MH on 12/12, and then switch over to the HPS bulb at next reservoir change. Or I may say screw it and do it tomorrow.... Who really knows what the new day will bring?
Bud porn is indeed on the way! Now comes the hard part -- The waiting. Xlr8, I was reading on your thread that someone suggested that the most vigorous (fast growing) plants may be males. I wonder if that is indeed the case. If it is, I have 3-4. Well, 2 for sure, 1 I am fairly sure on, and 1-2 more that I am on the fence about.
I will be germing the Humboldt soon.
Never had this one before. I looks pretty in the picture, no? Here is what the seed bank had to say;
"Very floral, undertones, sweet smell associated with a peppery haze high, very strong and penetrating, uplifting & motivational high, mind bending. Great for closet & homebox garden."
I am stoked about this, big time. It is a feminized seed, so there should be no worries. Exciting times abound.
So its been a few days and things are going well. Changed over to the HPS bulb this morning and pulled a male this afternoon. I believe the 4 plants remaining in the tray are girls, which is good. Doing a reservoir change tonight. These plants have gotten quite thirsty. Three 13-minute waterings this week have drawn much water from my reservoir. Pics up later tonight, after work.
So I've been bad. I just wanted to let you all know that this grow is indeed still alive, and doing very well. My apologies for the break, but you know how life can get sometimes.... Full-fledged update coming soon.
Chop it now !! Or you'll be sorry !!Gah!!! So, one of my plants has gone hermie!!!!!! What should I do? Should I chop it down, or just let it finish?
