New girl grower on the block

I have to agree with you, I do not think many females are getting involved as some here to get active in learning and growing. My aunt had a beautiful rose garden when I was a child, to bad she is no longer with us. She made her own soil and was always in her garden. I respect everyones decision they make as far as their private lives. I am straight myself, but respect others choices. This is a great place to be! :) :green_heart:

Hi @Zooie and welcome to the forum! :welcome:
We need more girls out here growing.. we can't let all these guys think they have the market cornered on this thing.

You asked about nutes. My preference for years has been to forego making the nute companies rich and I have advised people to learn how to do things naturally and organically. Recently a new type of fertilizer has entered the market, and it is almost like organic growing in the way it works, but not really. It really is a new thing though, and one I had to try on my current grow so I could feel comfortable endorsing it, and I have to say that I am VERY impressed with the results so far. Not only is MegaCrop cheap (you can get a free sample that will get you through your first grow) but it is easy to use, and in a soil grow you have no need to worry about pH and you can use plain old tap water too. I am convinced that we have now found the cheapest and easiest way to grow pot... MegaCrop! Do a search for Greenleaf Nutrients and get a free sample. Check out my current grow journal to see the results... here is a tease:

I just ordered the sample for my next run. Cheap? No Need to Ph? Endorsed by Emilya? I’m in!!

Are you using the MegaCrop per their directions or did you cut it down some? I ordered it and don't believe in re-inventing the wheel if it isn't broke. Thank you

Does 2 decades count? lol....I see your the first up to defend the clan!!!
Welcome to 420MAG Zooie "grower of girls" :ciao:
I'm going to step up and defend the clan too, cuz my wife's asleep  and plus, she still lets me carry my man card

Follow the directions for your first grow or two with it. I have been using it for a couple grows and I watch the plants to tell me when they need me to increase, hold at or dial back my amounts.

I am a big believer in following manufacturer's directions and not following the well meaning but oftentimes wrong instructions that come from online gurus. I am using the MC and 3 of its companion products exactly as recommended by the GLN online supplements feeding calculator, and my plants are exactly where they need to be... growing vigorously and without difficulties of any kind.

I was told my someone on here that I should not have to feed in FFHF for a couple of weeks after up-potting. I surely don't want to harm them with nutrients if they don't need any. I will have to get my room ready for them to move into the next couple of days. putting up reflective material today in my grow closet. But that's a mans job, ours is to show them how to grow....lol

For your answer, I refer you to the FF feeding chart, where it clearly indicates feeding right from seedling stage on up. What gives?
There are a lot of very timid growers out here and a large group of those who would like to be called grow gurus who advocate for a minimalist approach to nutrients. Half strength... quarter strength... you hear all of this nonsense come from the crowd. i ask over and over again if any of these experts work for Fox Farms Labs or any other, but that never is the case... these people have simply found their own way of doing things that goes so easy on the plants that no problems ever crop up. This is of course, one way to grow this weed.
Or, you can follow the directions. Fertilizer is meant to take a thriving plant and supercharge it into extraordinary growth. It is to take a normally growing young plant and put it on overdrive, pushing it to become much more than it would have done on its own. Isn't that the point? Aren't we trying to grow the biggest and baddest plants possible in our gardens?
A good soil can easily take our plants clear into week 5 without needing any additional nutrients. The key word there is "needing." Or, you can choose to give them a bit more than they actually need just to survive.... you can fertilize them.
My current grow is an example of what can happen when you aggressively feed our plants. You don't have to grow like I do... but what is really stopping you other than some online pessimist telling you not to use the tools in front of you?

My plants are little seedlings at the moment and I would like to give them all they need to be the biggest and healthiest. I will take the time this morning to read your current journal with some coffee and a little smoke. You give me more motivation this morning to get moving. Just love the knowledge and the time you take to help fellow growers as I see it. Loved your sticky on how to water a plant, made it easy to understand with pictures to back it up. Thank you for leading me to current journal I will head there in a few minutes and soak It all in. :green_heart:

Hello everyone! First time grower here, going to attempt to grow some Amnesia Haze, SourD and Gelato. Fox Farm Happy Frog. I am looking to keep it simple. . lights are led 480watts at the wall with 4inch exhaust, and 4X5X8 closet. We removed the door of the closet and put up a zip door. Any suggestions on nutrients? I don't plan on using and bloom boasters if I don't have too. So glad to be here!
Welcome to 420
Happy growing :yummy:
