As for the insects, you can use any tomato or rose friendly pesticide. What kind are they? And the best thing you can do is keep you grow space uber clean. How tall is your grow space and do you have any more lights, you may want to think about training or fim'ing it.

If you switch the lights to 12/12 now, the plant will grow out to over 4 foot tall. You can still top or FIM it. The shorter the plant the fewer lights you need.
