Outdoor Sativa Grown In The Ground First Outdoor Grow

Re: Outdoor Sativa grown in the ground (First outdoor grow)

Yeah, I warned ya about those worms, lots can go unnoticed because they'll hide in the crannies and nooks as you know. The worst ones bore into the stem and travel through the stems devouring the buds that way, so gotta keep a keen eye out or them.. Might want to go with a BT solution or Spinosad, yeah seems you'll have quite a bit of flowering left to go, the actual harvest date can be altered by the environment, if you have a long spread of hot and warm weather, things could ripen quicker, if the weather is cloudy and cooler for a while it could take longer. As long as necessary to see fruits that are ripe for your medicinal needs, namely.

As far as the nutes go, if they're purely organic it wouldn't matter, but if they aren't organic than ya would want to stop feeding that weeks and weeks before harvest and use only fresh water. Kind of tough to flush a plant directly in the ground unless you use a flushing solution such as "Clearex"

Good luck with the worms and I hope they subside for you, they are something nobody should have to find in their buds. Just keep up with your daily inspections :Namaste:

Oh yeah also, you will not want to spray the buds in the weeks approaching harvest, multiple reasons, it could impact the taste of the flowers as well as promote mold growth inside the buds. So just keep that in mind ;)

As always :adore: to the master outdoor grow man Lester!!!!

Thanks for this Lester, YES only 100% Pure organics from the first day of Flowering I did use GHE flora until flower but like i said ALL my products for the flower stage is organic but i still think i will go get a flush solution just to aid.as for them worms Where i took out the Bigger worm it seemed like he was on his way to bore into the stem so lucky i got him in time but i will keep a CLOSE eye on her to make sure there no more of them worms about. As for the insecticide i use a Product Called Margaret Roberts she is a Herb specialist here in SA so i asked her what would be the best for my herb and she gave me the stuff i am using now and is seems to work wonders since i started using it on Friday!!!

Yes i see the stuff i am spraying now says you must stop 7 days before harvest but i think i will play it safe and stop 2-3 weeks before that should leave it with lots of time, Plus i will be doing Bug Washing this also helps to remove all the crap from the bud!!

I hope All is good over there in Cali and in that wonderful garden of yours.

Thanks again for all your help with this grow, like i said YOU ARE THE MAN!!!

Re: Outdoor Sativa grown in the ground (First outdoor grow)

CrazyRooster, all I know is that

1.) sativa has (2) "long" & "short" flowering strains, 6 wks fastest (short), 11 weeks max (long) I wish I knew strain names, I am not that that advanced in strain name knowledge and I can't reach my books right now.

2.) near the end of budding, I start to judge purely on color of trichomes/ % of cloudy vrs. clear & later, cloudy vrs. amber. For the most up-type buzz, I'd feed straight water when 60% of trichs are cloudy with 40% still clear. If you want the maximum "couch potato buzz", feed straight water when you see your first sign of amber trichs. This is the minimum & maximum guidelines that I've used. Different strains can ALL act slightly different. This scenario assumes you will be finishing within 10 days, from you switch from nute-water to straight-water. Please let me know if I just confused the heck out of you.

3.) is answered within (2.)

hope this helps, you read a lot more, and get slightly different opinions,

best of buds my friend!:high-five:

Don't even get Lester & I going on the worms! He is THE master of his garden war! You must inspect your girls for these (pic below) daily. Is it safe to assume you've seen a moth or 2 near your plants? Consider buying ladybugs from local nursery.

Well here is he best shot i have of that worm i was talking about, now here is the weird thing i found the first one on Friday and put it in a plastic container and then on Saturday i found the second one but he was way smaller now this was about 34hr after i found the first one so i placed it in the same (100% Sealed) container, came back like 5 or so hr's latter and found that the big one had chowed the small one as in there was nothing left.....this makes me wonder i was under the impression that they only eat plants?!

Re: Outdoor Sativa grown in the ground (First outdoor grow)

That looks like a looper that has gorged himself. That's a big one. Not super bad, those guy's saliva don't really cause mold to grow.
It's those smaller, white/flesh looking ones that where the true treachery comes from. But these looper things can devour colas if you let 'em, they're green so they're harder to see and blend into the plant very well. I usually take them to the stomping grounds when I find them. Those small ones are so hard to find sometimes they are dug so deep into the buds that's when I pull out my handy-dandy ice-pick and go into search and destroy mode. Just stay diligent, and be careful on that ladder lol. But yeah that is such a nice plant I bet it smells insanely incredible up close and personal. Reminds me of a plant a fellow member grew a while back, JASPL, he grew some monsters, one of them was a Durban Poison. Which would make sense (South Africa)..

I highly advise clicking through his small Journal, it was a journal I very much enjoyed when I first came onto this site, I think you'll get a kick out of it :) JASPL's First Grow — Durban Poison - Big Bud - Kalashnikova — Outdoor 2012

Re: Outdoor Sativa grown in the ground (First outdoor grow)

Never heard or seen a bud worm at my parts. Wonder if they're only native to certain climates or geographic zones?

Re: Outdoor Sativa grown in the ground (First outdoor grow)

Aaa ok, so they're larvae of the butterflies. Always thought they were some mutated insects enjoying California sun ;)

Re: Outdoor Sativa grown in the ground (First outdoor grow)

:lot-o-toke:That is one bad ass plant Insane dude, I'm not even allowed to dream of a plant like that (maybe some day) also a very cool 420 logo with the leaf & planet.:adore::adore:

Re: Outdoor Sativa grown in the ground (First outdoor grow)

Aye been working like a dog lately.. I'm getting strong like ox lol :high-five:

Uploaded some pictures, might get an idea of how I grow. I use everything this site says not to use though.. Those worms are moths and those white butterflies get squished. Everytime I see one they get the boot too. I can't see Relaxed Lester giving the boot :) but anyways pics..

I like these guys too..

Preparing the hole involved 2 feet down from ground level.. Amend the soil

20130721_162430.jpg

Excuse the weeds.. When your a one man army drinking the good stuff- making all those holes takes time :) I managed to get these in on July 21st 2013

20130830_140509.jpg

Same plants on 8/30/2013- it's a strain that comes from Humbolt. Supposed to be very rare as in- not released to any banks. I'm making seeds right now along with another rare strain. (We just know them as green and red, they were supposedly taken in a raid on the mighty.. Or it could be stories)

The smoke is really good on the green.. The red, eh just ok.. had another grow of all blue dream too.. That's 6 weeks from the first and second picture

Green and Red Strains- 9/17/2013

Unfortunately, being my first big grow I didn't bother to trellis these guys other than some netting and a rogue wind blew them all down.. I didn't take pictures after that but they harvested fine xd

Here's a picture of a supercrop I did on one of the autos.. All these plants were supercropped in the same manner.. It works- not much else I can say.. Topping imo sucks, Fimming sucks.. This is all my opinion of course, but if someone else can pull a half pound off an auto, I'll listen :)

Re: Outdoor Sativa grown in the ground (First outdoor grow)

lol Yeah those guys suck.. Spider mites are pretty bad too. Seen a cola eaten to bits on another guys grow last year

Good day Les

Thanks for the point to the Durban P journal it seems very interesting i am working my way to it now... as for the smell, YES you can smell this "Tree" all over the yard and what a smell it is indeed!!!

Thanks again for all the help and support from your side!!

I think Lester gave you what you want with the bellow no?

If you have moths or butterflies flying around then you got bud worms in your area...
