Purple Test Grow: Soil - Air-Pots - CFL - HPS - DR60 Tent

super crops look good, buds are forming nicely, your in the home stretch now, if your not showing any signs of nute burn, and girls look happy, you should bump up the dose slightly, its your call :goodjob:

Thanks guys! I think you're right grogreen, next dose they get is gonna be stronger. So any of you guys got a suggestion for next grow? I wanna do a scrog but I can't decide whether to do one or two plants. Ive seen some real nice one plant scrogs.
Also I have to choose between these:
White rhino
MK Ultra
Sage
Blue mystic
Sweet purple
I'm leaning towards two plants just for variety. If anyone has a good grow experiance with these strains feel free to share.

I can tell you what not to do, is Scrog 3 plants lol, did it my first grow and it was the biggest pain in the ass ever ALSO before you get underway with a scrog, do some serious thinking about how to set up your grow space to be as functional as possible, because once your plant is locked into the screen, there's no getting it back out without causing some serious damage. Things to consider:
-Leaving room under the plants to collect run off
-Flushing
and others that im too high to remember right now

...Final defoliation...

So this is just a short post to show the final defoliation of the plants. lots of room for good light penetration now! Also I super-cropped a couple more branches for better lighting.

:goof:Day 40 of 12/12
...The big swell...

Howdy all! thanks for stopping by! things are progressing nicely. plants seem healthy. a few days ago the plants got a double dose of nutes and i think they liked it lol. remember this is day 40 of 12/12, only about day 30 of actuall budding/flowering. I think i still have a ways to go. I just ordered an affordable usb microscope to start checking my trichs. so next week i plan on showing nice microscope shots of all my frosty goodness. I also figured out how to take way better up close shots with my camera so i think some of this may quallify as bud porn lol.

So in all these pics the Sweet purple is still the star of the show. she is covered in trichs and still has a nice purple hue. even the underside of her leaves are sugary goodness lol. the Purple #1 is way less trichy but seems to have swelled a little bit.

Not bad hodder. Not bad at all.

I'd like to offer some thoughts for future (hell could help now). A typical 150w hps will deliver the minimum amount of lumen we want our plants to get at 11-12" from the light. That minimum is generally regarded as 5k lumen or so. This is the lowest amount in the optimal range. Also, on avg, a 150hpw will deliver 45k lumen at 4" from the light. This is about the closest we can get and at the max lumen in the optimal range. I think for the most part your light has been way too far from the girls. It looks to be about a foot, or was about a foot away. The supercropping is/was important and you did good there but could have even done it lower and brought the light down and if temps are ok set it 4-5" above the tops. Now if the plant is say 20" tall or more, the stuff below about 12" away is not getting much useable light. So this means you have two choices, more watts, or shorter girls.

In the end, I think you would have bigger, fatter nugs and be happier, even ecstatic, with the results.

You seem to be doing a great job giving them support so they can add some weight, now give them light to gain that weight with!

Looking good all the same. :goodjob:

Very nice grow in every way!:bravo:

Day 49 of 12/12
...The waiting game...

hey all! thanks for the nice comments everyone. Things are still cruising along. my USB microscope came but it doesn't work on macs.....damn! so i have to wait til i can use my friends PC to show my trichs. The Sweet purple is making me drool while the Purple #1 is swelling but showing a few nanners now...sigh....here are some pics.
so this is a short update because I'm sad about the nanners, also i just checked and some of the lower buds on the Purple #1 have a couple seeds growing...guess i missed the hermie sacs. Not sure how it happened, was supposed to be a good feminized seed. maybe my temps were to cold at night or something and stressed her out. I think i may try the GLR light schedule next grow and see if that keeps stress down. The sweet purple is 100% seed free and beautiful, and the top colas of the purple #1 are seed free, it just sucks about those lower branches.

...Trichome shots...
...so these two pics are off the sweet purple. it actually appears to have some amber trichs but i wanna get more close ups before i decide. any thoughts? should I chop this plant? Its only been 7 weeks since the light flip to 12/12 though, makes me feel like its too early.

Be sure to check trichs on different buds as well, you'll find top buds are usually done sooner than bottom ones/middle ones. I can't yell by two pics whether they are ready to chop, something you need to judge. I suggest chopping off a nug to test, that will be the best way to tell if its ready. I wrap the nug in paper towels and nuke it 10 seconds at a time. In between 10 second nuking intervals let bud rest and turn and move nug from wet spot on paper towel, let rest for 10-20 seconds, usually good to smoke after 30-40 seconds this way. Does not fry THC this way either, I've done it a long time to determine best doneness for my buds

...Almost there...

Hey everybody! thanks for the comments guys! after checking more spots on the Sweet Purple with the micro scope, the trichs are still pretty clear. Im thinking at least two more weeks. The Purple #1 is slowly triching up and will probably go longer. I can't wait to start my new scrog grow, either with Sweet Purple or MK-Ultra by THSeeds. here are the pics for this week. the majority of the pics are the beautiful sweet purple. enjoy!
