Re: 12/12 Bag Seed - Blackberry Kush - Frankenberry - Girl Scout Cookies - 400W MH/HP

Yeah for a second I thought this was light burn so I raided them. I put it back at 13 inches over the tallest one.

Well they are looking great today. Two and a half weeks into flower and they're swelling up later than I had hoped :-D And look at all the crystals on those leaves, these babies just wanna explode with resin.

Re: 12/12 Bag Seed - Blackberry Kush - Frankenberry - Girl Scout Cookies - 400W MH/HP

Watered today, went a little too long on onetbut it should be fine. I am wondering why there pistils ate already turning red, I think it has something to do with a little note burn or the fact they had leaves resting on them, can even deeper where only one side is redding. Anyway looking pretty good, thinking about cutting off some of the littler bud sites forming on these chutes since I think they will just deprive the main tops

Re: 12/12 Bag Seed - Blackberry Kush - Frankenberry - Girl Scout Cookies - 400W MH/HP

Sorry few dumb questions. Are you using MH or HPS light. Are you taking pix after lights out or just cutting them for better shots and then starting them again? Moreover, how far above canapé is light. I keep my 400 watt MH & HPS bulb about 15" off plants, 600 watt, 18". 400 watt light is for 3x3 area, try and keep all plants in a marked out area of tent. I say this because of tall, thin stretching plants that tell me their is not enough light. 1000 watt MH will yield 500 g at 1g/watt because of high blue light low red light. HPS more red less blue, better yielding due to chlorophyll a (red light PAR energy being weighted twice that of blue). Your doing great but a few tweaks could increase yield.

Cheers

Re: 12/12 Bag Seed - Blackberry Kush - Frankenberry - Girl Scout Cookies - 400W MH/HP

The ones that stretched were a lot smaller than the other ones so I couldn't keep the lights as close to them, then when I switched from MH to HPS when they started to flower they stretched. That's why the three or four bigger ones aren't stretched.

No sure what you mean about the pictures, I wait for the lights to come on, but if I am watering them I'll take them to my kitchen sink and the lighting is a nicer blue in there so it had better color balance.

I try keeping the light 12-16 inches, but the big plants were 20 inches and the others like 10 so you can see how the light was far away from most. That's one thing I like about the idea of scrog but I don't want to have my plants stuck under a net unable to be moved

Re: 12/12 Bag Seed - Blackberry Kush - Frankenberry - Girl Scout Cookies - 400W MH/HP

Hmm so some of my leaves are turning purple. Interesting. I haven't kept track of my watering but it was two days ago that I watered last sooooo the 26th. I didn't notice any deficiency the purple leaves could be, might be genetics.

Re: 12/12 Bag Seed - Blackberry Kush - Frankenberry - Girl Scout Cookies - 400W MH/HP

Still got a feeling something aint right. Looks like it is still using up the fans as food some. Yellowing. Purple usually isn't good to me but stems sometimes...My PC always has them. Something is a miss...
Anyone?

Yeah I am a little less concerned now, it doesn't seem like new growth is yellowing, but some of the leaves that were already turning, it's almost like the plants are sacrificing those. Getting close to week 4 so it's a little early for natural yellowing die off, but there's a lot of factors to consider. Still have never seen any kind of sign of disease in the roots, and they don't really look bound, so I am just going to let them do their thing.

I think I probably could have done a better job breaking the soil up, I notice from one pot to the next that the consistency of the soil was very different, and most of them will drain a cup of water soon as you pour it in, almost like the soil is too airy. Usually I end up compacting it too much and having it stay wet on me, I am wondering if perhaps I just went to far the other way. The soil stays wet due to all the peat, but it drains so damn fast I wonder if maybe the roots aren't as happy as they could be. It's really the only thing I can come up with that would be giving me these signs.

But like I said I am going to try to jus keep trucking, there isn't much else I can do for them at this point in the game. Giving the root zone beneficials, keeping the nitrogen fairly high, and focusing more in P and K (they're frosting up nice). As far as they keep growing new healthy leaves, I am not too worried about the bigger ones shriveling.

It could be a natural response to this growing style, if the plant knows it's not going to have long to live why bother with these big huge fan leaves that are there to soak up more light and air than the little plant actually needs. It might just be the plant correcting a simple inefficiency, knowing it spends more energy keeping that tissue alive than it has use for the energy it supplies. Since things are supposed to be "accelerated" in this style perhaps earlier yellowing onset is just natural.

Anyway those are my theories and so I am just going onto keep doing what I am doing for another 4 weeks and see where I'm at then.

Re: 12/12 Bag Seed - Blackberry Kush - Frankenberry - Girl Scout Cookies - 400W MH/HP

I have looked up a lot of different deficiency charts, and the closest it seems like is phosphorous. That doesn't really make sense though, because I've been giving a LOT of phosphorous.

Never had these issues my last grow. I had 5 gallon containers and used pH 6 water, that's the only difference I could think of. Well and I never gave them neem room drench last time.

Thinking about checking my roots again because this is nuts. I had ONE person suggest I just wasn't using the right nutrients, but haven't had one other grower agree with that assessment. So if the problem isn't the food or the amount, there's gotta be something going on in the root zone.

I just wonder how I am going to take the root ball of of the gallon container without getting dirt all over my flowers. Because if I turn it upside down the dirt all falls on the flowers, but if I turn it sideways then I don't know if the root ball will disintegrate.

Re: 12/12 Bag Seed - Blackberry Kush - Frankenberry - Girl Scout Cookies - 400W MH/HP

I had a similar experience and it turned out that my leaves were sun-bleached. And it was random leaves too, not just the top, side or bottom. It was completely unexplainable. Perhaps sun-bleaching/light bleaching could be the culprit? Just a suggestion, not knowing is the problem...:thanks:

Hmm well I did move the light a good bit closest than it had been found the past few weeks.

I figure out a way to turn the pot upside down to check the roots. This is on my biggest plant

Oh and these red stems have been present but usually not this bold, so that kind of supports phosphorous def. too.

Re: 12/12 Bag Seed - Blackberry Kush - Frankenberry - Girl Scout Cookies - 400W MH/HP

You might check into iron deficiency since you said your soil has lots of 'P'. Some iron problems look like what I'm seeing, and excess 'P' can lock out iron. I'm not great at these sorts of nute' deficiency identifications, but that would be the direction I would look.

Re: 12/12 Bag Seed - Blackberry Kush - Frankenberry - Girl Scout Cookies - 400W MH/HP

Yeah I think I read that somewhere about iron too. I tried some Beastie Blooms which is 5-50-17 so maybe that plus all the Crystal Burst pushed it up too much.

It seems like I need to keep feeding before the pots dry out, like all the nitrogen dissipates way before the pot is dry so waiting for it to dry out is basically starving the plant. I am going to try watering,/feeding a little bit more frequently.

Noticed too of my bigger plants trying to stretch toward the light so I lowered that down a bit.

Well today is officially the start of Week 4

Re: 12/12 Bag Seed - Blackberry Kush - Frankenberry - Girl Scout Cookies - 400W MH/HP

Well I think it's a definite nutrient lockout because everything is consistent with a P deficiency but there's plenty there. So I leached each pot with 2x capacity of a real mild Bloom solution.

Some of the pistils are starting to turn. I am really trying not to count chickens before they hatch but I don't think I will be getting much. Not really seeing much speed benefits to cutting off the veg period, but I guess I should wait until all is said and done to evaluate this method. One thing that is nice is working with such small plants.

I picked off a bunch of whispy looking bottom buds, I figured if they weren't a little more full by now they will just drag the other ones down.
