Barney's Red Dragon - LED

I don't think you're over-watering if you're watering until the first sign of run-off... I was always taught to pretty flood it and allow 15-20% run-off. Good soil will hold the water for about 8-12 seconds before completely absorbing it.

Thanks for the post horizon. I ended up flushing them and it seems to have corrected the issue.

Red dragons seem to be low on nitrogen now with some yellowing so I went from one extreme to the other, fed them today and hopefully they correct themselves.

I would like to start flowering once my 600w hps gets in next week but I think the dragons are way to small? Am I gonna get a terrible yield off the 3 if I flower them now? Or do you think they could fill out nicely with the 600w of hps and 300true watts of led?

I'll have to grab some better pics another night.

You see those short autos people grow that are tiny but the whole plant is like completely bud when they harvest. That would be ideal for me and hopefully with the mixed light source they could come out like that regardless of the small size before I flip to 12/12

From what I can see your doing pretty well with all the obstacles you've gone through I'd personally wait till the hps comes before you start to flower a lil patience will go a long way. I cant wait to see what you can do with the 600w and a more conducive growing area.

When the plant you tossed out because it started to hermie is actually doing better than the plants you have indoors... frustrating, wish I hadn't walked down the road to see it lol... This makes me think its a PH issue because my ph out of tap is just under 7 but where I live we have really acidic rain... ugh

One of the plants seems to have broken out of whatever was wrong with it and is starting to darken and stretch. It is the only one that has any pre flowers yet of the 3.

The other 2 look slightly better I guess? I have to go on a 3 day business trip so just gonna leave the lights on 24/0 until I get back and by then the hps will have arrived.

Watered the random strains and hopefully completely drying out the dragons will do some good when I get back. Very excited to get some good ventilation and lights going when I get back!

Finally back from my trip, got my hps setup and carbon filter/fan.

Now where do I start?

Setup: This hood and carbon filter/fan are wayyy to big for my setup, I am going to need to figure out another way. Going to have to do some research on pulling from outside the tent and maybe buying a smaller reflector. The fan doesn't have a controller yet and it literally sounds like a fucking jet engine in my room and makes my shit fly everywhere... smh...

Plants: All of my lower leaf yellowing has stopped! However now my tops are very light in color and I have some leaves shooting straight upwards like I haven't seen before. Temp and humidity have nothing to do with it because temps are staying exactly at 70 and humidty is at 65%... Any idea's on what would make a leaf do this? Also plants are kinda droopy because they dried out pretty well when I was gone for 3 days, they drink up all the water and are bone dry like every 3 days now...

Pics below of new setup (which I need o figure out) AND said leaf.

Here is how I would personally set it up. I would start at the carbon filter, run ducting to one side of your light, then ducting coming out the other side to the fan, then out the tent. Intake will be separate.

Thanks for the response Juan. Yeah that sounds like a good way to set it up. There isn't really a better product than the silver ducting is there?

I have to move everything into my basement again tomorrow so I guess that's when I'll get that all taken care of :/

The joys of renting an apartment and having a roommate on top of that.

I can't answer whether there is anything better than silver ducting. If you find something, let me know. The way I described (from what I have read) is the basic way to run a carbon filter/aircooled light/fan. Also remember that the fans generally like to pull air versus pushing it.

Oh hell yeah dude! Fun an easier growing coming your way, I'm interested in seeing the set up you choose and how it sounds with the speed controller, Looking good brudda keep on growing!

My plants have started to appear much more healthy with 450w of hps. They are stretching a ton too, with the response of the plants I'm wondering if my LED's aren't really that great and have led to some of my issues.

I switched them to 12/12 today and decided to delve into foliar feeding some cal-mag (1/2 recommended dosage) that is also 4/0/0 right before I switched off the lights. Hopefully all is well when I can see them in 2 hours.

Pics to come

Spraying the plant with cal mag seemed to help a bunch. Growth is already looking healthier and the first day of 12/12 already has a ton more pistils showing.

I don't know know how I am gonna make room for the plumbing in my tent with this system, it's a real pain in the ass. There is next to no room for it, even with the fan being outside. (few pics of said filter)

my 2 random girls are on day 51 and the dragons are on day 42. Both from seed

Random girls bad leaf, I cut it today:

Another one of my bigger girls, the random seeds, have balls on it now... I already took a hermied plant and put it outside (I doubt it has enough time to bud).

This really messes me up because if I knew this were the case I would have veg'd longer as I am trying to get a decent yield... Is it worth the chance of pollinating my other plants to get a few more ounces of bud or is it not worth the hassle? I cut off all that I could find.

It just sucks because it already has a TON of pistils on the plant compared to where I was at in my last grow, so much healthier as well... decisions decisions...

Officially one weed into flowering, lots of stretch and lots of pistils on most of the plants. Others are just starting to show a few.

Just a week ago only half the tent was full, now I am running out of room!

Not gonna type too much tonight, just post a few pics. One of my dragons is stretching a LOT more than the others and has very spaced out nodes, would this indicate a sativa pheno? Pics below

And ofcourse the bagseed, which seems to be doing great.(besides the slight hermie)

You can keep a really good eye on the hermie and chop the balls, but it may become a bit tedious. It's up to you whether it's worth it or not man, you have to make that call. The good news is that if you do get some seeds they could be useful! Looks like you got the filter figured out. I would strap that thing to the top of the tent as high as it can go and that's all you really can do. Your reflector isn't very tall so you should be fine.

Juan, definitely gonna move that filter up in the AM. Thanks for the advice.

Do you think running the LED's with the hps is worth it or is there a point where the extra light has little to no effect?

I'm running 600w hps and considering hooking up the extra led to give me 900w's. Just not sure if it's worth it
