Doopler's First Time Grow - Northern Lights x Big Bud - SSSDH

Hey guys, just a quick update.

My RO system has been checked and needed some pieces replacing and is back on its way in the post right now. The guy said the thing does 6 litres an hour which seems doable. Just gonna mean staying up all night one night a week doing res change while everyone's asleep haha... All good, get me smokes and some coffee, should be fun.

Also, good news on the funds front, have more than enough cash to get the flower room set up this week, will be going to get all the gear tomo afternoon so will post pictures of how that goes along! Can't wait!

Anyway, here are the girls, they seem to have responded well to the backing off of nutes, cant wait to get the RO water going though...

Another thing, going to be getting an air-cooled 600w dual spectrum light tomorrow.

Now I have the money for either a digital or magnetic ballast, the noise is an issue so I thought I would go with digital. Only problem is, I just read that those things could potentially screw with the WIFI in my block of flats?? Can't have the internet blokes coming round and snooping round the grow...

So are magnetic ballasts really that loud? I read that they are louder than everything else put together, if this is the case then it's not doable as I have to sleep in the same room. Anyone know anything about this radio interference issue? Are there models which block the interference, any products that can help?

I really appreciate any help on this, I can't have any interference whatsoever and I need it to be relatively quiet, not silent, but no louder than the rest of the gear.

Peace x

Well, spent a few hours in the hydro store yesterday, came home with pretty much everything to get the flower room up and running:

-600W Air-cooled dual spectrum, 6inch fan for cooling
-8 Inch sound proof extractor fan, this thing is a BEAST, pics soon...
-Temp controlled fan speed controller
-8 Inch carbon scrubber
-loads of bits and bobs

Working on setting this up over the next few days with the aim to get the ladies on there by the weekend. Wish me luck guys.

Peace

I'm interested in DWC and I'd like to follow your progress. Looking forward to seeing pics with your new gear installed. What 600W setup did you go with?

Its a generic air cooled hood, got a really good deal on it, seems pretty nice. The bulb is a sunmaster dual spectrum grow + photonic.

So exited to get them in there now, anybody know when I should start topping? I'll put some new pics up tomo.

Sup fellow growers!

Hard at work this morning, just been cutting holes for the ductwork, phew, glad thats over now. Off to the hydro shop to pick up the 8 inch ducting and then hopefully, will be fully setup sometime later this evening. Either that or I have to stop close to the end and go to work. Boo.

Anyhow, here's a sneaky picture of the flower room from the outside (;

Back on it again this morning. Just gotta go get some weather stripping and we shall see about getting the girls moved into their new home this evening.

Have the ventilation setup now and it is SUPER effective, I'm absolutely thrilled. Without fans it got up to around 32 in there, extractor kicked in and brought down in like 2 minutes. Air cooled hood should prevent the fan ever really fully kicking in unless its really hot outside. Also, this fan is SILENT, like literally, on idle it still moves a lot of air and you can hardly hear it, fantastic news :)

Good times right now guys.

I'll post some pics later.

Ok so we've been enjoying the warm weather under the new light and life is good so far. 2 days in and some real visible change in growth speed now.

Temps dropped down to 22 overnight and returned to 26 this morning. Maybe a little cold so I turned down the extractor fan a touch, should be dialed in perfectly now.

Did a res change this morning, EC @ 0.7 now, also started adding superthrive at 1 drop per 6 litres, will go 1 drop per 4 litres after a week but want to ease it in.

Humidity is very very low though, sticking around 18%, do I need to get a humidifier?

Also, lights are on 24hrs atm, should I switch to 18/6 soon? Leave it as it is?

Here's the room:

Let me know what you think guys!

Peace x

It was around this stage that I realized I was balls deep in this thing now and had to see it through. First time I'd gotten stressed about it, couldn't stop thinking about the risks, would it work? am i capable? is it worth it? the usual stuff I'm sure some of you are used to.

I knew there would be blood, sweat and tears as anything worthwhile is!

Do wish this shit was legal though, the more I think about it the more I realize how crazy prohibition is.

This is like the most innocent hobby I can think of, I mean shit, you change the EXACT same process to cultivating tomatoes and its one of nerdiest things I can think of!

But hey, take me to jail go figure...

But it is legal? HERE hardeeharhar. :tokin:

Looks good dude. Can't wait. Small spaces can do good. I run out of a 5' x 9' space with my veg / flower room and a 3' x 5' ScroG.
As far as those plants doesn't look like nute burn looks like they need nitrogen to me. But PH could play a factor.

Figured out what's causing me problems since putting them under 600W. Res temperatures are getting wildly out of control!

I've basically bitten off more than I can chew with the DWC, should have gone coco I think.

Now, my question is, is it possible for me to transplant them to coco now? The roots aren't that entangled yet and I can't see why it wouldn't work?

I would struggle on with the DWC but it's just too much hassle right now, and the pump is like twice as loud as the whole setup combined, would appreciate the peace and quiet for sure.

So if anyone can help, possible to transplant to coco from DWC?? might be interesting??

Just realized, I'm gonna be able to lay in bed with these doors open, chill and watch the plants grow. Chilling :)

Next thing you know Barry comes on the radio........ the KY comes out of the night stand..........and bud porn is born!
