Fastbud2 - Sweet Cheese - First Grow With Autos

Its amazing my jaw dropped when i saw the naked plant all stripped of the leaves but seemed to work a treat apparantly its the sweet seed breeding most sweet seeds varietys because there strong hardy genetics there more resistant too stress :)
When i go up in the morning ill.see if she recovered and benefited from the one leaf today and if she has all big fan leafs are coming off there not needed for flower just plant growth and she due flower anyday now just hope i ent too late lol
Hmm may just have too carry this thread on.for ease :) :bong:

I'm not to sure about that Scotty. I believe the plant feeds off of the fan leafs it's entire life. Though a lot of us defoil, it slows the plant down for a minute. Many believe the pros out weigh the cons. I fully defoiled LAVERNE and it put her way back behind STACK A. DOLLAR (Delicious Cotton Candy) in development. They both went under 12/12 the same day.
But I also keep removing fan leafs as they grow and block lighting. It's definitely something you should think twice about if time is an issue.
I'll be giving my complete opinion when LAVERNE finishes.

ohh i thought that each set of leaves do.a different stage the 2 baby ones start tap root next set feed main root fan does stalk and root and budleaves do bud so if when flower starts u removed say 60% fan leaves utilise the bud leaves n get bigger buds? as with any plant? Altho too much at once shocks your plant a leaf or two a day they repair last days and produce new growth? Like with a human u get 1scab in one area its fine your body doesnt notice but fall and get multiple graises it takes your body awhile to heal as its spread and not in one area? sorry the weed im smoking gives intense thought processess but in a nutshell slight damage quik heal and fix.. major strip hit shock long recovery and.plant wud want to veg? Thats how ive worked most plants but new too mary lol :bong:

Well don't take my word as Gospel. I'm sure some others will tune into this discussion Scotty. But I'm almost sure that fan leafs feed the plant it's entire life.

Did you check out the grow link above bar? his donkey analogy makes sense animals will eat the juicy leaves on a plant leave the little bits of growth and flower so as the plant will still grow and produce fruit so it can come back and eat this at a later date.. my counter thoughts on this are that yes altho cannabis is a plant it has been genetically engineered we.are no longer smoking wild plants they are bred and designed differently with different requirements so best to just give them more light and let them do there thing..... hmmm gta go have a sleep on this will update tommorow before i do anything ;) :bong: sweetweed everyone :bong:

Hi Scottish...

Been following your grow from a distance on here, out of interest, see how things progress as my 1st grow will be probably basically same plants as you, from the same breeder....

To say I was both shocked, and almost gutted that you had started to dismember your 'baby' would be an understatement lol. I was inclined to think the same way as others who have commented, and wondered why on earth you would start 'pulling you plant apart' so to speak. HOWEVER... I had a look through the link you posted above, and WOW<<< Simply!!

With an auto having such a short life span anyway, I would never have imagined it would have been able to recover from losing limbs AND flower to a decent yield. With that said, looks like it may just be possible, as I've said to you before now, personally, I would be fearful of ANY kind of training, especially on my 1st grow, I would just want to make sure i got it right a few times and experiment from there lol...

but :bravo: you have the balls to try it, youve seen it can work and going for it :welldone:

The logic behind it is there, and it is valid, a mean if big parts of the plant arent getting enough light down to them, then its not going to grow as well as it could, so making sure that light gets to all the right bits, logically can only be a good move?? for me, just one id be nervous of making :hmmmm:

:goodluck: and :wood: it works the way it should and i look forward to getting to visit and some point for :tokin:

Ok decided im leaving beauty alone im not removing any leaves yes the new growth has shot thru under the point of my accidental break so she wasnt stunted and cant even tell there was ever a leaf in the first but when i look at the oppostite side of her where shes untouched shes doing a fine job of poking the new growth over the top of her fan leafs so ill trust her do her thing and save my experiment for a later date and pop 2seeds and have a side by side comparison...i have also accidently broke a leaf off fast bud when i was stoned last night but she has shot a pistil at the same point leaf came off tried getting pics but v.difficult so will try again tommorow but she is shooting pistils all over and growing immensely pics really dont do her justice she is drinkin 250ml water a day atm and pot is extremely dry come watering no weight to it at all cheese has only jist dried out and had about 100ml water today but anyway heres some pics sorry there is a few cudnt pick my best lol

Nice and bushy.

Very bushy they love the dual spec and light was around 3-4inches above plants just ive moved it up higher now to try and stretch them a little and getting worried fast bud may have a growth spurt last thing i want is her touching the light one night..oh meant to say before fan leaves do still feed the plant fast bud has proven this as where i knocked a leaf off she is not producing bud whereas the opposite side with leaf has some what i believe to be calyxes :)

Looking at cali haze for a photo grow please any helpful info everyone wud be highly appreciated :) :bong:

:phew: I'm relieved you decided not to strip her. :phew:

Although I must admit that other Sweet Seed journal you mentioned earlier is fascinating.
But I'm thinking a big pot is necessary with a big root mass in order for that much defoliation to recover well.

You've seem my girls all leafy and pretty right now, yet in 7 weeks they will have yellowed and lost most of their leaves. I use fairly small pots so they have smaller root systems to feed them and I suspect that is why they eat their leaves in the end. Anyway that's why I don't defoliate.

You're update pics look great! They are loving life under the lights!
Happy growing!
:peace:

Thanks flo im glad i have left her alone now too bit too drastic a procedure for a first grow :icon_roll i am goin too have to experiment it in the near future tho maybe try a 20l pots and some myco's too give a heavy root ballfirst tho lol

What size pots do you use? Your ladies are massive :slide: those airpots look great i was thinking of getting some.for these beans im crackin just now but there quite expensive lol

Thanks just cant wait untill i can get some pistil shots of the cheese hopefully can tommorow after i move everything about ill get a few of my bigger budsites from the fastbud she really is a beast i think if i sat and.watched.for an hour i.could see her throw out another pistil :bong:

Yes, air pots are a bit expensive but worth it to me. Due to pain, I can't handle huge pots, so the air pots I use are pretty small actually. They only hold 2 1/2 gallons or about 9 liters. I don't think I'd be getting plants as big as I do with that amount of soil using any other container. However they sure do use up all their fan leaves by the time they are done.

The way the air pots work is that all those holes on the sides air prune the roots, and the bottom of the pot is a grid that suspends the soil (and roots) above the floor. It makes for a really even root system and they have never looked root bound when i check them after harvest. The only downside I see (other than the cost) is if soil dwelling bugs attack them there's an awful lot of tiny holes to treat.

Gotta love how fast cannabis grows- won't be but the blink of an eye and you'll be checking tricomes for ambers.:cheesygrinsmiley:

:peace:

Wow is that all and the plants get too that size  think i may ave too invest in some in the near future :) it makes trimming easier her eating the fan leaves anyway doesnt it?

i had a little read up on the air pots the roots shoot out but instead of hitting the sides spiraling out of control and becoming tangled or stressed instead they hit air stop growing and instead the plant forms a new root its very clever and can see how they would help with your weight issue :) are soil parasites harmful to the plants then? I have a whole array of wildlife in my pots i put worms in too help my soil and micronutes but i have other little bugs came along too lol i no spiders obv harm plants as they nest in the bud but a few flys surely wont do any harm?

It is amazing how fast such powerfull medicinal plants grow so quickly i looked back through my pictures and the growth in 3weeks is unbelievable i have chillis started before just on there 3rd leaves now  started a fast bud green poison and royal bluematic the 2sweet seeds have cracked and are in soil royals still too cme through but under 24hrs for germination is ridiculously quick but cant wait too be checking my trichs :bong:
Its

Yeah Scotty. The anticipation of growing cannabis is unbelievable! It's like everyday I get off work & start my commute home the biggest thing on my mind is "how did my plants fair today".

Its a feeling 2nd too none reg when you open the tent and a light waft of fresh plant floats past your nose and for the next while your just lost in branches and leafs looking for new growth inspecting and playing with previous growth all in the anticipation of the day shes covered in loads of lovely little trichs and you get too chop her down and finaly taste her goodness and feel her powers :amen: :rollit: :bong:

LOL trimming my plants is very easy since they eat and drop most of their leaves- only downfall is there's precious little trim for hash.

Earthworms sound like a great addition to the soil. :thumb:
Critters in the soil is a good thing except for the fungus gnats I've got flying about. Fungus Gnats eat fungus in the soil but when that's gone they start eating roots so they can be damaging if there's a lot of them. Plus I don't want them around when the buds get sticky- smoking gnats- gross!:cough:

Cannabis cultivation is a blast! It's so fun watching these plants start out as fragile little seedlings that rapidly become monstrous bud covered plants you can barely control. It's hard not to fall in love with them.

And as you will soon find out the only thing better than growing these plants is smoking them! :tokin:

:peace:

True thats a bit of a bummer resins one of the best things about home grown but your going too have plenty of bud to be enjoying and with your forest im sure you will get enough hash :)

ohh yeaa i have never actually thought about flies sticking to my buds before im going to have to get a fly catcher i want nice clean smoke lol im in a very wet climate so when i checked my leaf mulch i had hundreads of the little critters wriggling around so added a few too each pot every little helps :)

Growing is so much fun i still cant get over the speed these babies grow i now have my limit though 5plants growing away counting down the days untill my fast bud#2 is ready for coming out and i can replace her with a new baby im swapping a seed with a friend so have a mohan ram auto to see grow :) its so addictive i want to grow various autos before tryin my hand at photos eventually :)

anyway my uploads been playing up so only got 2 pics sorry guys bit here they are there now 34days and the large pots are the fastbud again green poison and royal bluematic babies all my seeds are now 3days and starting there 1st leafs
