So as i have posted before, I am starting my first grow room. I'm sure many think its probably a bad idea for a first timer but i am going big. I have a carport i am converting top to bottom to this dedicated grow room. I intend to have 24 plants and do an SOG. The room is 10x19' Sloped cieling from 8' down to 6.5'.I have done tons of research and i am a fairly intelligent dude. I also have an 8 year experienced grower to lend insight on occasion. But they grow outdoors. So I am here looking for advice from indoor experts.
Anyhow, I have purchased exhaust items, carbon filter, inline fan, etc. I am looking at getting an HID 1000w MH/HPS Auto-timer set up. Possibly 3 total. I am aware they produce mass amounts of heat, but we are going into winter where it will drop as low as 0 degrees F. Thats frickin cold!! So i am probably a little optimistic, but i feel this will actually help for the winter. In the spring i will purchase air-cooled hoods. I am also going to have a through the wall a/c and supplemental heater unit to help heat in winter and to cool down in summer. (It gets 100+ degrees here in the summer.)
The watering system i plan to use will be made by yours truly. I am quite handy as well. I will have 30 gallon rubbermade tubs with lids as reservoirs. A sump pump (hopefully on an auto timer) to pump to (8) 5 gallon buckets with net pot lids, drip rings and hydroton medium. a drain valve i will install on each bucket will return the ph balanced solution back to the reservoirs for re-use. I will also have a reverse osmosis system in the room to treat all the water i use in the reservoirs.
Other things in the room will be a fresh air inlet with an inline fan to bring fresh air into the room. Oscillating wall fans to move air and plants around to strengthen roots and colas. Air stones in the reservoirs for oxygen in the water. Oh, and i will keep the floors dirt. I feel it will make them feel a little more at home with some dust in the air.
MY QUESTIONS:
First, am i missing anything?
Second, I purchased autoflowering, femised seeds. I will be growing 3-5 different strains at the same time. Will i need to separate these strains and have each one under different lighting or watering systems??? I did get all short plants. I know alot of that will be up to me to maintain keeping them that way. I was planning on separating the strains into sections, if i have to, with thermal heat blankets. They are almost a tin foil looking blanket so i figured it would reflect the light and help keep warm or cool. But if i can keep the whole room open and have all the strains on the same lighting and watering that would be fantastic. Any suggestions???
Third, how big of net pots should i use, 6", 8" or 10"??
Lastly, How big should i let these babies be before i take them from the germination cups to the net pots?
Sorry if you feel i should know all this before deciding to do a room of this magnitude but thats just me. lol. I know there is a chance of catastrophic failure but i will wait until i am fully confident to be up and running and will have a plan start to finish. i will post a journal and keep you guys all updated. Please help! Thank you!!
