Late weekend update, been spending a lot of time fishing lately!!!
So, I have a few concerns as of late! The weather here has really cooled down and there isn't much sun happening. This is the forecast for as long as they can predict! Rain, cloudy and occasional sun breaks. Highs in the upper 60's to mid 70's. Outside lady has started about her 3rd week of flower. The buds don't really seem to be growing all that much!!! I know patients is a virtue but I am getting concerned she will not finish before the weather gets worse for good!! What do you all think I should do with her? The options are A) leave her be B) ride it out till my autos finish and bring her in(more on the autos in a second!) Here is a picture of one of her little buds, they are purpling up with the cooler nights we have been having!

Now for the autos inside!
Pretty sure I am on week 10ish of a 10 week finish time! I have been checking the trichs and they seem about 75% cloudy, 20% clear and 5% amber(only on the leaves of the buds.) I talked to the breeder and did some research and some claim certain autos will not amber up!?!? I started my flush on one of them today and as soon as the other one dries up her last feeding I will start to flush her too. Am I going to degrade the smoke if I let them flush for 2 weeks or should I flush for 1 week and chop them? BTW, these things are monsters!! I can't say enough about Southern Oregon Seeds Co, emailed them today and got a response in less than an hour!! These autos have been everything they advertised and I will be making another order to them as soon as these beans are gone!!! So, without any more babbling!!! Here's the bud porn!!!
Group Shot! The one on the right has started her flush!

Here she is outside the tent in normal lighting, those are 3 gallon fabric pots for a size reference! Anyone have a guess as to how much she will produce wet/dry?

Thanks for following along on this journey!! More updates soon I promise!

Dankest,
The outside girl is still trucking along good. Her buds are still fairly small but growing!! I have cut back on her nutes cause her soil is always damp, not sure what to do about that! The weather is turning to fall, getting more rain and less sun!!! The temps have been in the 50's during the nights and ranging from 60's to 70's during the day! We have had mist or rain the last 5 days so I am getting a little worried about bud rot in the future!? Here are a couple pics of her!

It's getting close to dry, we haven't had serious rain for 2 days. Just a little mist yesterday and today. Her pot feels much lighter this morning!! If the rain will hold off another few hours she should be ok!!! I always heard not to let them go completely dry during flower. Roots are already developed and now she uses those roots to uptake bud nutrition. I like to let them get just to the point of almost dry then hit them with food and water!!!

So...... Let me start this update with my lonely outside lady!!! She is trucking right along but the sun pattern has moved a ton in the last two weeks and now she isn't getting nearly as much! I would say she gets a good solid 6 hours of direct light, maybe 8. I am going to have to start moving her around the yard when I get home to maximize her time in the sun! The weather has stabilized and we have been in the 80's with a low of 41 this morning when I woke up at 4:30am! The cold has really made her purple start to pop but I am getting a little worried she won't finish before the first frost. Is this a HUGE problem? Here are a few pics of her.
Pretty even canopy.

Lots of good looking tops.

Here is a profile of a couple of the cola's. As you can see they still need to really bulk up and I am running out of time!!!

Lastly, some purple porn for ya! Courtesy of the chilly evening air!

On to the autos!!! I decided it was time for the short fat one to come down last night. She has shown me near 0 amber trichs other than on the leaves. All the trichs on the buds themselves are cloudy. I decided it was time for her to come down! She wasn't really packing on much more weight and had all but stopped drinking. I figured what the hell!!!! So here are some pics.
The Stem!!!

LOL, I know its silly but thats the first time I have ever had the privilege to cut my own plant!!!
Here is a before chop.

And here it is on the table after the BIG Timber yell!!!

After dropping this monster I got to really inspect the buds. They seem kinda airy, not as compact as I had originally thought. Thats ok as I am sure I will get a couple zips out of her dry, or at least close!!
Here she is in her closet for the drying process. I figure a couple more days and she will be ready for a final trim and some jar curing.

The other auto lady is chilling in a dark tent for 72 hours right now. She will get some last photos and the big chop on Thursday night. She hasn't started to amber up at all either but like her sister the trichs are all cloudy. It seems strange to me that no ambers would show up this late in the game! Anyways, she seems a bit tighter and more compact bud wise. I am pretty sure it is a little different pheno of the same breed. Personally, I think the lanky one is going to turn out to be better weight and smoke. We will have to wait for the girlfriend to sample and let us know!

Outside lady looks happy.. there is no way you can clean off the biggest leaves and have her in more sun..so she will fatten up her buds?? Or can you give her artificial lights?
My grow is outside in cardboard box..and fall is coming..colder at night.

So........time for another update!

This will be about autos only!! The chop on both is done, both are dried and jarred for curing. I have made lots of realizations during this auto grow and I will share them all!!! I must say for being a beginner I am pretty damn proud of myself!!! I actually made it from seed to weed!!!
Lessons learned:
Do not over baby your babies!! Over watering, over feeding, over looking!!!
Light height with LED's is paramount!! I am using 5 watt diode LED from Mars and penetration to the bottom was not optimal, more on that in a second!!!
Don't rush harvest!!!
Invest in A CARBON FILTER SET UP!!!! My next door neighbor who is a police officer decided to stop by and drop off some fresh crab, the look on his face when he got a whiff was PRICELESS!!!! No worries as its legal here!!! LMFAO

I grew these 2 autos under a 400 watt mars 2 and here are the results. 3.94 oz of dried bud for 2 plants. Plant #1 which was the shorter, non stretcher yielded 1.8 oz. Even though the "buds" were bigger in size they they did not weigh what I expected. They were fairly airy and not real dense. I attribute this to raising the light to accommodate the taller, stretchier plant.
Plant #2 was the stretchy one. The top bud was WAY more dense than plant 1. I think it was just the right distance from the light. Lesson learned. I got 2.14 oz of dried bud of plant 2.

The drying and curing process is a first time for me so I followed the advice of many on here. They were hang dried in a closet with a fan mildly blowing through the cracked door until the fan leaves were crispy and the stems were still bendy without snapping! Then final trim and into jars. The RH meter was showing 65% on the first one and high 50%'s on the second plant. The second plant is not getting burped as often(every 2 days) as the first plant(every day for 2 hours) and both smell amazing!!!

So without any more talk here is the pictures.

The total haul from both!!!!

My next update will be just the outside lady. I just also popped 2 new beans that I will start a new journal for. They are pure Raspberry Kush from CannaVenture and Pure Northern Lights from Southern Oregon Seeds. Both are feminized photo plants.

I forgot to mention..... .61 grams per watt of actual light. Not too shabby for a Newb!!!

Weekend update!!!

With the cool night time temperatures, low 40's, the fall colors of the outside girl. The purple is really coming out in force now, bag appeal is going to be off the hook with this one! Its been fairly damp recently so I have been holding off on the food but we are having a good run of some sun the next few days. I crammed a bunch of food down her throat on Friday night and she will get a BUNCH more tonight!! Hopefully it will help the colas really start to fill up! I am going to try and leave her till the 11th of October if the weather holds. Maybe the 12th, we are heading to the beach on the 13th so I figure thats a great time to dry while we are gone! Here are the pictures.
