just read your 1st post here. You didn't switch to H&G did you? I tried it and it's alot mre pricy with same results. just a warning. I love your setup! nice regulated grow!

Next time I would recommend removing lower (low light) budsites to maximize growth on the colas. think of a pumpkin plant. if left alone it will have alot of average pumpkins, but if you want larger record breaking pumpkins you remove the lower sites hence decreasing the ammount of pumpkins, which will force the plant to direct more energy into the remaining pumpkins, therefore increasing the size of the remaining pumpkins. at least trim the lower 1/4 of growthsites. (not leaves) and it'll help, or you can come over and beat me up. :: You don't want to do it at this point though, your plants have already used alot of energy to make those buds. just check them out later and remember what I said. You'll see a difference in how solid they are VS the tops. good learning exp.

I followed the video from this site - worked like a champ! And frankly they were MUCH more psychedelic than I remembered. Its been a long time since I've had a real brownie. In fact my buddy and I are making a special trip to see Clash of the Titans in 3D so we can eat the brownies!

Just a little constructive critisizm. no biggy. lol they look great, and I know all about moving. It tears you up. I prefer to go into suspended animation for a while after a move and unpack. lolol

Heheh. I too saw Alien in the theaters at the Lido nightclub in Paris - they show movies during the week. Great place to see a flick - huge screen. Was before I started smoking though. Clash of the Titans was so so at best. Zero characters or story of course. Effects ok. I liked them more than my buddy.

Day 3

Day 3 of the UH and Volde clones. All is well. No roots showing anywhere yet, but that is to be expected. Both groups doing about the same as far as health. The clone dome does better on its own tray with the heat pad, so I think those plants seem to be a little more vigorous. But that was expected. The part that always gets me with rockwool is still to come. Although I try not to over-water and pay attention to drainage, it seems the only way I lose a clone is to a black tip down in the rw. So we'll see if they show this time.

Thanks, bro. I like the way you can see the light through the leaves enough to see the reason for stadiuming them. I keep meaning to let folks know that they are indeed in a stadium in there. Its a block of buds with the middle a little lower to accommodate the light - which is about 1" above the plants because its on a light mover.

The other thing I always forget to mention is that they look far more leafy from the outside cause I leave the outer most sun leaves cause they're not blocking anything. In the middle the light can penetrate basically the full 18-24" of good light. But anything growing right at the scrog level dies quickly. Branches or leaves or little buds and stuff keep trying - but its like a rainforest floor - no light. I'll get more pics from directly under it a little later.

Soon it'll be time to start getting some bud porn from the scrog I hope.

I'm really thinking about doing a scrog, this will be my 1st atempt at this type of grow. My space is 2x3 so it's perfect for this type of grow I think.
My lady has been lst'd from an early age and is looking quite healthy with several branches and many future bud sites. I understand lst and have done those grows before, but I'm new to this.

I still got to build everything so I got a little bit of time to do some research about this type of grow.

I'll have to go back and re-read about how high your wire net is above your plants at the start..

with all of those sticky buds bro..

Thanks! Big props for doing the research ahead of time! There's very few set rules in a scrog, but I can give you a few quick tips.

1 - I love the extruded nylon clothesline for the screen. It costs about $6.50 for 50' and I need 100' to make a 2'x4'. Again - there are few "right" answers, but after 5 scrogs - I can say with confidence that this is the best thing I've found.

2 - 1/2" pvc for the frame. Drill holes about 1.5"-2" apart for the clothesline.

3 - height of the scrog should be about 8-12" above the pot I think. Any higher and you will miss out on some lower branches. Any lower and it becomes hard to bend the first few shoots.

4 - If you are veging in the scrog - veg til about 2/3 full then switch to flower.

5 - The tops are where the good buds are. Try to get the tops even. Put the first sets through, let them grow an inch or two above the screen. Then PULL THEM BACK OUT! Pull them down, and move them to a new home a little further from the main stem. Repeat this process every few days til you have a nice candelabra type thing going. Then you can start weaving. Its this process of moving the tips over a hole or two every few days that I think most folks don't get at first.

That's about it for quick tips. The single most important rule is that there are no rules! Don't worry about what it looks like at first, just go for crazy density. If you've never done one before, I guarantee you can get the tops much closer than you might think. And you can weave plants between each other as well.

Mini Update

Ok, just thought I'd get up a little mini update.

All is well. The Utopia Haze top seems to be perking up nicely, and dare I say (dare - dare) I think she's gonna make it. I'll give her another few days, then gonna start hardening her off a little. I really can't wait to see this gal come Fall. She's gonna be a tree!


Here's the 2x4 tray. The plants on the right are the Montana - sorta the test group for cloning in this tray.

And another random shot. This is day 15 for this clone. She was amongst the test group for cloning straight into the 2x4 tray. The roots are brown cause of the nutes - she's def healthy. She's the one in the front right in the above pic.

I try to do research before I jump into things, but I already bought 2'x10' chicken wire that has two inch holes to do my scrog with as well as 1x2's to build it with. It only cost me not even 7 bucks for the materials, I could not beat that with my less than impressive budget I have to work with. My lights are CFL's 252 watts {2700K} to be exact, if I do a roughly 2x2.5 scrog I would have enought watts right. I have read to have 30 -50 watts per square foot, I'm right in the middle with 40 watts psf. I might get some bigger cfl's to help boost things up.


My concern with cfl's is I know they have to be close to the plant to have the most effect, that being said I was thinking about only having it 4 inches above my present canopy. Is that to low, she is going into The Bloom Room withing the next few days.

Any help would be greatfully taken into thought as you stated you have way more experience than I do with this type of grow.

I just filpped into Hulu to watch Fringe and it is hilarious! Starts with the sound of a bong. Then Walter taking huge hit! Then his assistant comes in and says,"Walter - you've been smoking marijuana." And he says,"You could hardly classify what I've just smoked as Marijuana. Its a hybrid of Chronic Supernova and Afghani Kush - they call it Brown Betty."



Then he's playing Operation with a kid and keeps killing the patient on purpose.



Its the episode name as well - Brown Betty.
