A58dguy's - Deep Water Culture - Skunk Haze - Grow Journal - 2014

Absolutely phenomenal!!! Definitely liking the LED results. Not saying it's all from the lights as I know dick about growing period. But I am contemplating going LED in the future and I make it a point to watch grows like this one. Love all the details and the pics!! Keep it up brother!!

I'm pretty sure she likes being under the P300.

Mid week update already...Crazy to think the older 2 will be 4 weeks old on Sat. So I am actually looking for advice at this point. As posted before I decided to top the older plants on Thanksgiving. The new grow sites on both plants look good, and are growing fast. Here is the ?...As you can see in the pics, I have been "tucking" most of the large fan leaves to allow the most light access to the bud sites. I did do a very limited amount of fan leaf removal, and I know a lot of other take quite a few off, is there any big difference? Anyways onto the plant porn.

Lights on, P300 is 14'-16' above the plants while the Taotronic is at 12'. PH 5.6-6.0

Princess is going strong under the Tao, feels a bit like she was banished, but if any of the others are male, she will be right back in the "big house". No root porn today, but she does have roots out of the net pot.

Here are the older 2, as discussed I have been gently tucking as appropriate. There is no doubt in my mind that the older one one the right loved going under the P300, the leaves were up higher than I had ever seen. They both are looking really good, drinking a lot, and they smell amazing. Hard to believe they are only 2 weeks older than the other.

Side shots from the big girls.
Have a great week, and happy growing.:smokin:

fan leaves are the most efficient part of the plant, no need to tuck them. can you determine sex yet?

I can't believe it's only been 4 weeks since the big 2 first "broke soil". If you've been following along you already know I moved things around quite a bit up to this point. I'm glad to say I will be changing it again :) I ordered a 2nd P300 last night (Merry Xmas to me) which side by side will completely cover the entire tent. I can't wait for it to get here, and I plan on "gifting" the Tao. If you need a 45x3 Led(which works great, see the the plants here and the 65' trans siberian auto I did on my 1st grow) let me know, it is the season of giving and all.:tokin:
Now back to business. The P300 is being kept 14' above the canopy. The Tao is 12' above the critical. PH still holding strong 5.6-6.0 the big 2 were actually dropping through the week. I changed the water on both big plants this morning and started week 4 nutes. I will change the critical tomorrow and she will be on week 3 nutes. Temps and RH as depicted. I do mist all plants 1-2x's a day mostly mornings.

So here is the current setup, I'm hoping to see the 2nd P300 in next week's photo. The big 2 are 11-12' tall and the critical is 4'. I'm really happy with 3 plants in the tent and I'm pretty sure it will be a very full tent by the end of this.

Here is the baby at 2 weeks from seed. She is the one "fem'd" and with no sex signs showing from the others yet she is my fallback plan.

Here is the "Tao" plant moved back to the P300 last week. The stalk is much thicker, and look at those roots.

Here is the P300 pure which just like the other, is growing fast and getting stronger by the day.
I can't say enough about the lights and service provided by Mark and the Platinum company. I'd recommend the lights to anyone who wants a quality product, and look forward to showing what they can do.

One for the road. Happy growing.:morenutes:

Structure looks good and they look the picture of health. Inserting another P300 will be f'n cool. those three plants would fill that tent full if you flipped them now man. How long you intending on letting them go?

Looking good...:thumb:

That's exactly what I said when we briefly spoke over our website chat yesterday! Careful on the over vegging.. with how fast and hard you're growing those babies, you're gonna have a jungle in there!

Bam! Decision made. Lights out at 6 on at 7. Let's see what 11/13 can do. Fingers crossed for ladies.

image16323.jpg

It's a lot brighter in there already. The flip does seem quick but I may be out of town in 2 weeks, so sexing is pretty important at this time. This was nothing more than a fun grow, so how ever it turns it will be good.

Everything looks so good man!! Yeah, you are going to have one heck of a monster bush with all 3 in there. I have my 2 in a 4X4 closet, and I think I may have some space issues. Not sure if I understood it correctly, but your are wanting to get rid of one of ur lights. I would be more than happy to offer you a fair price on it. Would be a great opportunity for me to try out the lights without putting out full price. If you're interested, PM me or what not with what you'd be willing to take. Catch u around brother!!

Mid week update as follows. Flipped the bloom light on and went to a 11/13 flower schedule on Saturday. The new P300 will be in this Sat and I can't wait to see the effects of both lights in the tent. The stretch has started, I've raised the lights almost every morning to keep them at 14'/12' above the plants. Still no sex signs from the big 2, but even more discouraging news...my "for sure" plant sitter has bailed on me, and Im now left wondering how I can leave them for 2 weeks for Christmas with no attention...Any advice would be great, I can only think that I will raise the lights to 20' above, fill the buckets to the brim, and hope for the best...if it all falls through I'm just going to tell myself they were boys to make it easier.. anyways enjoy the pics and more to come on Sat.:peace:

Just the veg spectrum. It was 4 weeks for the big 2 and 2 weeks for the little girl. The tao is only a full spectrum light so it was on the entire time.

Sorry for being a day late, but yesterday was a busy/interesting day. Lets get to it. As of now the 2 big (bag seed) plants are 5 weeks from seed, the fem'd critical is 3 weeks from seed. I flipped to a 11 on 13 off schedule last week and the vertical growth has really stepped up.

This is how I thought the 6th week would start...the 2nd P300 got in yesterday.

Here is the bigger of the 2 plants, specifically the one one the left that has been under a P300 its entire life. It was almost 20' tall and prob going to be a really healthy plant, but as in life things change...

And here "he" is now...In the spirit of Christmas, I decided to go out and kill all 1st born males...I'm just glad it was only 1 of the 2.

SexEd 101...that plant had "balls"
Anyways with that out of the way, I really think the tent is going to be more than full with the 2 remaining plants, not to mention that they will now be under their own P300. Like I said last week, they will be left alone for 2 weeks and I really think the Critical has a solid chance of surviving, because her H2O intake is still pretty low compared to the other plant.

Here is the "Princess" under her very new P300, talk about a happy plant.
10459.JPG

Here is the current setup, I will post more pics later today with lights out, etc but I wanted to show the contrast on the 2 lights. With the new P300 on you can barely tell the Tao is even on..I would love to show the tent with both P300's on, hopefully we can have that pic by tomorrow... Anyways more pics to follow later today, and expect a very bright mid week update on Wed. Take it easy and happy growing.:xmas:

Dont you have issues with your roots and those buckets not being lightproof ? Looks amazing to me :) If I compare color of your silver mylar coated tent with the Platinum LED to my silver mylar coated tent with unnamed LED, I'm so fracking jealous ! :D I will so get me those after my second or third harvest!

No issues with light in the roots at all. I'm pretty sure for all subsequent grows I will be using full black, food grade buckets. I do run aquashield, so if there is a light issue, its seems to be handling it just fine.
Here's the most recent pics.

Here was the most recent setup, I did put the P300 over the larger plant, but expect both P300's to be up tomorrow.

As much as it sucks spending 5 weeks growing something, and less than 5 minutes destroying it, when you see that fine white hair on an unknown plant things get brighter. So I'm very confident I now have 2 female plants in the tent. Cant wait to compare the 2 against each other.

And here is the little one at 3 weeks. Take it easy and thanks again for following along.:morenutes::morenutes:

I have a question, and it may seem stupid, but..Do you think it would be more efficient to have an LED that is specifically designed for flowering/bloom such as a G8 bloom only, dedicated for a room that is only to be used for flowering, rather than have an LED with a bloom switch, such as the P300?

If it was me and the switch allowed me to duplicate the G8 spectrums, I would go with the P300. You can always use it as a backup if your veg light fails. I just think it would give you more flexibility in your lighting choices. That's my 2 pennies worth anyways.
