Akisunni Indoor Cold & Hot Grow Zones

Here are some photos of Ms Stinky, the mislabeled Blue Dream. Her buds are huge and its hard to give proper scale until I get them on a scale and can share the gram total.

The primary cola is going to weigh in the Oz when wet. Sadly, I am looking out the window at the non stop fog bank as it continues, so for now, I am leaving her to grow, vs harvesting her. I am getting worried about mildew on the leaves. I used some D.Earth, and not sure if the powder is DE or mold.

Thoughts?

Hopefully it's DE. Let's chose to be positive.

Exposure to wood can function as a natural desiccant, but may also have mold spores in the wood itself. Paper bags also speed bud drying so having in the room can only lend toward dehumidification. If I had to deal with humidity like that I think I'd risk building a wooden air dryer for inlet air. This might get ya down as much as 10% more depending on length the air would have to travel through to get out the other side. Also, I bet your filter stack could come in handy. Does salt remove moisture too? I forget.

Salt will remove moisture, but not a lot at once. You could take a sock full of salt, and when it feels rock solid, smash it with a hammer, bake it a while, and smash it up again. Back into sock. ;) I keep a bowl of salt on my altar, and it frequently needs breaking up, due to moisture. Haven't baked it yet, but baking would drive the moisture from it. Really low temps, mind. Too high, and moisture turns to steam, and when steam is stuck inside what's essentially a rock, kaBOOM. (Or at least snap crackle and pop) ;)

if you're worried about disease you can spray your plants and grow area with diluted vinegar 1-2 times a day for 1 week. during drying you can hang up socks full of baking soda because baking soda absorbs moisture.

Hey Guys,

Beautiful afternoon in NorCal today. First time the Sun has burned off the fog in a while. Rumors of us returning to 70's again too. Its been a long cold wet winter here (ok, joking a bit here).

I went and popped the top on the love shack, where Mr Baggy and Door girl live now. She has lots of small buds with hairs, and Baggy is growing a crazy number of pollen sacks. I expect that he starts to pollinate the area sooner rather then later. My plans are to generate seeds with the clone next to him, and put a large plastic sack over him afterwards to capture some pollen. That sack, will be put inside of another ziplock sack and placed in the back of the deep freezer for now.

Hopefully I will get a bunch of seeds from a cross between the two. Baggy is from a top shelf strain, and extremely healthy. Hopefully a mix of these two will be worthy of growing from scratch on demand a few times.

Cherry Bomb is probably a waste of Watts. She never had a chance to veg before going into 12/12 as a clone. She stretched like crazy and is now a couple of extremely skinny stems with small bud zones. I can probably move some additional plants into the open space around her, for context.

No update worth commenting on about the giant blue dream buds. They are growing. The two Big Girl clones are in next to her currently.

Tomorrow, I am planting some beans and starting a new grow. One of my daughters, and I went and got her card. So I now have the legal capacity to double the number of plants or 2x the number of clones here.

Here are some pictures I took of Big Girl in her outdoor setting. She has about 50 of these micro dense purple nugs on her currently.

Current Update:

Big Girl continues to weather winter ok outside. Her popcorn buds are not growing new hairs. They are extremely frosty but so small I basically have to kill the plant to harvest them... Not to stressed for meds, so for now they stay on the bush in the backyard. I think of her as having living medicine. Dark purple with white crystals.

Ms Stinky the Blue Dream. Her buds continue to grow and she appears to be growing a whole new top with new hairs just starting on it. She is still 90% white fresh hairs and still growing new ones everywhere. I just checked my grow schedule, and she is at Day 80 of flowering currently. However with 6 weeks of those days being 36 hours long, she is closer to 60 nights.

Twin Clones of Big Girl appear to be enjoying their life in the 12/12 CO2 boosted environment. They are already getting thicker and bushy with new growth visible. I am still growing them in small containers where their roots are sure to be root bound. I am pondering replanting into 5 gal containers and putting both them where their mom lived, once Cherry Bomb is out of there.

Cherry Bomb is an unhappy girl. She has a really bad bug infestation. I blast it with CO2 and did a fumigation. Lots of dead criters on top of her leaves. She has the start of buds now, even though today is Flower day 46 for her. I am considering moving her completely outside and seeing how the Sun treats her. Only issue is Baggy is about due to be dangerous in the back yard.

LoveShack Baggy and Jerry the door girl are growing just fine in their covered outdoor grow. Jerry is adjusting finally to being out doors in winter.

Its clear I need to set off some foggers in the garage. I am pondering moving Ms Stinky, and the Two clones of Big Girl indoors, moving cherry bomb outside near Big Girl and fogging the bleep out of the garage.

New Beans for New Grow Journal: I dropped 10 unknown bag beans from my christmas seed bank gift, into a water/organic moss in a small bowl approach. The bowl is wet at bottom with moss holding the seeds at/above the waterline, but soaked. If all goes right, they should be easy to pick off the top as they germinate and start to grow.

Germinating on a moss bed is an interesting approach aki. You're always experimenting. What bugs are you dealing with?

I do. Its almost an addiction. I am always thinking of how to do things "differently". Today, I was staring at my back yard and I realized where a former tenant at this house had grown monster plants. Our Backyard has 2 x 32 gallon plastic containers. I went over and looked at them, and they are full of nice soil untouched in the 19 months I have lived here. It looked to be compost or plant soil donation bins, when I realized they had holes along the sides for watering and were perfectly situated where almost no one could see them, but if you planted an adult plant it "could" grow huge in Summer.

I do believe I know where the Big Girl Twin Clones are going to be planted sooner rather then later. Pondering moving Cherry Bomb outside, the twins to their mom's spot and reverting to 24 hours of indoor CO enhanced veg growth for a week or two, before replanting them in the 32 gallon containers for a Late April to Early May harvest. A quick outdoor stealth grow. Before Summer season hits. If I give them another week or two before they experience the outdoors, they should be big enough to put on some weight during spring grow season.

After posting the above, I decided to get pictures of everything and do an update.

Bud Porn

Sadly there is going to be a bunch of Bug Porn too. Might as well get some of that out of the way.

all looks good to me, minus the bugs. even the purple buds look sweet! the lack of p uptake makes them a bit small (and colorful), but they look pretty solid from here and there's a bunch :) if the bugs have a tolerance to your treatment you should add additional treatment. vinegar is effective against mites, louse, and the sort. any bug is nasty. not sure if vinegar will kill them, but it makes them leave for sure. get a sprayer and go in twice a day. any treatment plan you should go a little higher than you think at first, then taper.

Just went and put the digital scope to the Blue Dream Giant Buds. While some sugar leaves have older amber tri's, the actual buds do not. Its a sea of cream or clear. I would say she is probably a week out at the rate that her growth is slowing down and there is no reason to actually rush her ending.

I will post the pictures from the microscope once I remember what my login is here, and get logged in on it later.

Have a great weekend,

Aki

Things are looking nice in here aki! I'm sorry about the infestation on Cherry, but at least you're getting through it :passitleft: pests suck. To me it looks like Ms. Stinky buds must have dealt with (or is currently dealing with) some spider mites and mealybugs. I really like to keep Monterey Garden Insect Spray w/ Spinosad around in case the mites get out of control, it also helps with the mealybugs, and can be used in flower (though I only do in dire need). you might want to get a little bottle for the future. that 10 bucks can be used about a thousand times haha, I sure got my money's worth at least. :Namaste:

Thanks, yes, she was the one that had my first infestation. I sprayed her with a lemon (from back yard tree), vinegar and water mix which seems to have done the trick. However she smelled all citrus like a month ago or so. I was afraid the vinegar or citrus might harm the tri's at this late of a moment so have resprayed her. However her area hasn't shown bugs in it lately either.

I think I will mix up a new fresh batch of lemon/vinegar and give Cherry Bomb a shock and awe treatment.

personal note: My newly found daughter is here visiting again. She now txt's me when ever her schedule has 24-48 hours free in it, and I will go pick her up so she can hang out at our house and be at home. She says that her whole life she knew there was a big family that was open, loving and caring... and now that she found it she doesn't want to leave. She gave notice at her job and "other Dad's house", and moves into my parents house in Early February. My parents are in their 90's and live a mile or so away, they could use a set of eyes on them. I am blessed to have my three youngest daughters be a family in an every day setting.

aww... so happy for you and for her aki! That's beautiful. :)

and cool lemon/vinegar trick! But I'd be careful spraying strong acids on buds/leaves haha. Just out of instinct, not that I know it will cause harm hahaha.

So happy for you aki.

I tried to raise my children with the knowledge that you can survive without anything except running water (local governments force you to abandon your home without it) and the love and support of your family. It warms my heart to hear that your family unit is complete.

Ms Stinky Harvest and New Grow Update

In reverse order. I will be starting a new Grow after I finish this report. This grow is basically finished now. I harvested Ms Stinky, the last of the original three clones purchased around Oct 1st. While Cherry Bomb is still growing in her space, and I will return here to update that final result, the original crew and the lessons learned with them have been captured here.

I hope each of you who read this will sub to my new Grow which is a NorCal January OutDoor Grow. I will be posting it tonight, with pictures taken today outside. I moved the twins of Big Girl outside and gave them each a 32 gallon Grow space. I also have Big girl out there, along with her other daughter Jerry, and her mate Mr Baggy.

Harvest Day

Today was the day. I have started to run out of the clean buds from the Big Girl, and while Ms Stinky was 80+ days into flower, her tri's were just starting to show amber. I decided to take her early, if you can be early at 80+ days and start the process to decontaminate the garage grow space.

Here is Ms Stinky pre harvest. She delivered 361 grams of wet harvest or about 12.7 oz. I have the buds a quick rough trim for their drying cycle.
