Beginner Grow Journal, Autoflower Coco Coir, COB LED Grow

Hello all,

Sorry for not posting in a while, I've been busy these past few weeks. I am uploading some pictures taken this morning of the girls.
The Banana XXL is having its upper leafs yellow out with brown spots, Mag deficiency? Passed my fingers through the brown spots and it does not look like fungus or mold.
I have fed both of them with 350 ppm of nutes (Coco A+B and CaMag) at pH of 6. Runoff measured was a pH of 6,2 and 280 ppm for the Auto Gold. On the other hand the Banana XXL Auto had runoff pH of 6,5 and ppm of 250.
I would like to mention my lights are as high as possible but the top of the plants are pretty close to them, I have not measured how far but about 5 inches or a little bit more.
The pictures I will upload are not the best quality, I will upload more pictures tonight under normal lights.

Hey @N00b Pk hope everything went well while you were away.
Coco requires fed every day, kept wet at all times and bigger girls might need 2x a day feedings.
You must put your calmag in your plain water first mix well and wait 10 minutes.
Then add your A then B then set your ph to 5.8 exactly.
Full strength according to the schedule or about 1000 / 1400 ppm depending?
Fed to run off every time.
Everything going in the pot has to be 5.8 ph.
Never any plain water.
How are your temps and rh? 20-28 c / 52-58 rh?
Lots of air flow?
Look at which of these parameters you aren't meeting and adjust accordingly. :Namaste:
They will be fine.
Hope your having a great day my friend.

Stay safe
Bill

Hello @Bill284 I am ok, hope everything is well with you. I have been feeding daily since my last post, always mix in the calmag first as you said. Followed by Coco A+B and finally pH down. I have been pHing it at 5.8, but from the brown spots on the leafs I thought I had a nutrient lockout or something. Went with pH at 6.0 to see if it would help it out a little. Also, I have been making sure to have at least 20% runoff.
Since I have been giving about 400 ppm of nutes I decided to up it to 600 ppm and in the next few days see how the girls react.
My temperatures vary between 19-20 C and about 70% rh during lights off, while during lights on the temps are about 22-27C and 60% rh. Ventilation is lacking inside the tent since my fan broke the other day and I'm still waiting for my order to arrive, supposed to get here by the end of the week.
Out curiosity Bill, what pH device do you use to take the measurements of the water with nutrients?

I am uploading more pictures with better lighting of both plants.
Thanks everyone and will post soon with updates.

Why are you starving your girls?? 400 ppm.
Have you read the schedule on your nutrients.
Calmag + A + B should be 1000 minimum but could go higher.
They are in full flower, the important bud building stage.:morenutes:
Feed feed feed my friend.
Drop the ph to 5.5 5.6 when you go up you reduce the range of nutrient uptake.
Try a couple at the lower range.
But feed.
Oh I use blue planet with success, but @bluter recommends an Aprila.
Apparently they are better priced and the prob is replaceable.
Not sure of the model.

Hello everyone, hope you all are having a good week. Little update about how the autos are doing. They have both started to pick up bud growth again, together with trichome production.

I have recieved my new fan and pH pen on Monday, pretty happy with my pruchase so far. The pen I decided to acquire is an Adwa AD11 ph pen, from what I researched it is a semi-pro pen that is pretty accurate in tacking ph readings. I have gotten a storage solution together with pH 4 and 7 buffers for calibration of the pen.

Temperature with lights on and the new fan are about 22-26 C and the rh fluctuates between 58-65%.
On Monday fed both autos with 1000 ppm of nutes (CalMag 100 ppm, Coco A+B 800 ppm and PK boost 100 ppm) at a ph of 5.5. Since yesterday I have increased the feeding to 1100 ppm while having the ph to 5.8.

I am feeding the autos two times a day, the first time 2 hours after lights are on and the second feed I give it about 9 hours after the first one. Giving the last feed to the plants 6-7 hours before the lights go off.
I will upload pictures later on tonight, hope everyone has a good day.

Happy Friday all, forgot to post pictures last night.

I have been feeding the Banana XXL with 1100 ppm of nutes (CalMag,Coco A+B and PK Boost) at 5.8 pH. The ppm runoff is equivalent or a couple hundreds ppm lower then what I am feeding.

On the other hand, I have dropped my nute strength for the Auto Gold to 900 ppm, the runoff ppm measured yesterday was at 1600ppms when I was feeding at around 1000-1100 ppm. I fed her while making sure to have doble the run off, throughout flower I have been feeding to at least 20% runoff.

The two pots I used for the plants are different, the Banana XXL is in a fabric pot while the Auto Gold is in a normal plastic pot.

I will post more updates on Monday, till then everyone take care and have a good weekend.

Quick update post, hope everyone is doing well. Pistils turning orange for both girls, harvest time is getting closer.

I am currently feeding the Banana XXL Auto at 1200-1300 ppm at a pH of 5.8, although I just measured the runoff ppm this morning and it was at about 1750 ppm. I always feed about 1.7-2 liters of nutes which usually gets me to 20% or even more of runoff. The fabric pot used for the Banana XXL is a 10 liter pot.

On the other hand. I managed to lower the Auto Gold runoff ppm from 1600 to 1200. On my last post (Friday, May 6th) I was feeding the plant 900 ppm of nutes where as of now I have increased it to 1000 ppm with lower ppm discrepancies in the runoff. The plastic pot used for the Auto Gold has a volume of 7 liters.

Hey @Bill284 , I have a question about finishing plants and how much should you feed towards the end of flowering. I have been looking at different coco growing threads and most people give the advice not to flush with plain water but rather keep feeding it. At around how many ppm of nutes would you advise to feed the plants during the last week before harvest? Thank you so much for your help, take care.

Your ladies are looking very nice, but they still look to have a few more weeks to go. I'd keep feeding them until right before the chop. They should really fatten up in the next couple of weeks.

As LKA :ciao: said feed until harvest.
No plain water ever.
If you have a schedule for your nutrients it will suggest the strength of your nutrients in flower.
As you have a month to 6 weeks left you should be feeding full strength right now.
Strain and water quality dependant your ppm should be around 1200 ppm right now.
As she finishes up she will slow uptake on her own.
At this point I phase out nitrogen, only a micro amount is needed for nutrient uptake last couple weeks of flower.
So I reduced the amount in the mix from now until she finishes flowering.
Gradually reducing ppm to about 800 last week of harvest.
Happy growing my friend.
Beautiful garden.

Hello @LKABudMan, welcome to the journal. Thanks for your insight, I am waiting for the buds to fatten up patiently.

Hi @Bill284, thank you for answering my question. Will follow your suggestions of feeding until harvest and lowering the amount of Nitrogen in the mix of nutrients.

Thanks to everyone for the comments and help. Will post an update Monday with pictures. Take care and happy weekend.

Good evening all, just fed the girls. Banana XXL Auto is starting to finish up, I am noticing she is drinking less. On the other hand the Auto Gold seems to be a couple weeks behind.

I have a small loupe and tried to get some pictures through my camera. Not the best pictures, but I struggled to keep a steady pulse for a steady shot .

Good morning @N00b Pk hope you are well my friend.
When your ladies have finished flowering and building for you her pistils will turn red and crinkle in.
That’s how you know she is done.
As that is happening you watch the tric’s.
Clear / cloudy energetic feeling.
Cloudy / amber relaxed feeling.
You have 4 ish weeks left.
Sorry, but they will get bigger.
Get a pic of whole plant and buds just to make sure.

Stay safe

Yep. It is super mega bud density build-up time!!!
The extra time will make the difference between top shelf nugs verses the really good shit that his hidden behind the counter.

Hope all is well in your world.

How did this grow turn out?
