Enr0n's Grow From Scratch On A Budget

I 2nd that also. Done a cracking job. Like a duck to water.
Not that you are after a third, but to see the lush, strong growth phase after having my own ass kicked and seeing how you had such a rigid-ish plan in place then needed to switch gears, deal with a male and still are hanging in showing beauty green growth makes the following along that much more awesome, Enr0n!

Keep on keeping on growing your own meds! I have questions about your "taste reviews" because I did get into a jar last night and was pretty high lol... I have had to "drain my own swamp to deal with a few gators" of my own but saw this notification as an email and followed up.

Today may be picture day for my root balls that are still in the bags near the compost pile. Meh, maybe not, but it might be our last nice sunny double digit day before snow comes to stay until... :passitleft: May. Yup, we had snow on the new crocus and daffodils the second week of May earlier this year.

:ciao:

14 weeks old and they are starting to get more color and the nute mixture has worked well. I have modified the nute mixture to attempt to maximize the trichomes and taste. Mixture 1, Tiger Bloom (2-8-4) and Beastie Bloom (0-50-30)1/2 strength. Mixture 2, Cha Ching (9-50-10) and Bembe (0-1-3). So far they seem to be liking the new mixture. :morenutes:
The CG buds are expanding well and the top measures 2.5 inches and the 18 tops spread out from wall to wall are over 1 inch in diameter and they are starting to get some good height. Her bud color is starting to develop a bit more.

Pibeurt has numerous buds with new growth and the standing limbs are starting to fill in. The exterior of the buds are light and fluffy along with a harder core bud. She has started turning a wonderful orangish gold hairs.

I eat leaves and have a few buds that I pinch off a small bit and taste. The review from the supplier of the seeds described a cat piss flavor Santa Marta Gold Having experienced that flavor for myself back in the day it can make for an unpleasant taste. If I can influence the taste and have a smooth refreshing/more desirable flavor then I need to know what it tastes like, so pick a bud and nibble on it periodically.

The CG now has a nice mellow earthy tones:yummy: and the Pibeurt is bright and fragrant with a spicy aftertaste. The spicy aftertaste has a hint of black pepper along with citruso_O

:surf: Awesome sauce!

Did a bit of trimming last night on CG before watering. I removed about 1/2 of the large fan leaves on the main stem and lower branches to allow more light to hit the lower canopy and to allow the buds to get more light. Also there were a few of the fan leaves on the main stem that were almost fully surrounded by growth. Since I see them 2 to 3 times a day every day I can see the new growth and the lower canopy buds expanded and have new growth on them already.

I don't know if the trimming was timely or if it will be beneficial? Time will tell and either way I will learn something.

The top stem which will produce what I hope is a beautiful cola will be at least 20 inches tall, right now the top is 2.5 inches wide :cheer:

And last but not least the very last pic is the 12 lobed leaf that was hidden away preventing me a clearer pic before:cool:

Final trimming done on CG. I have taken pipe cleaners and started drawing her in tighter to try and get all the branch colas to grow as straight as possible. I probably should have attended to this a bit earlier but I did not want to remove too many fan leaves and stunt her growth. She is starting to turn a nice golden color hence the name.

PW is a different story. Inside the supports there is numerous small branches filled with buds and some of them are turning white from the trichome production. In addition on every branch the buds are starting to develop new veg growth that is covered in milky trichomes. The buds are turning color very nicely. I neglected her some in the training by allowing the interior branches to grow too freely. But they are supporting each other nicely so I will let them go as they are.

Going to give them a watering tonight. Cold front moving in and the temps getting lower. That should help bring out more color on both of them. I have found that the long pipe cleaners are the best at holding branches in a desired position. The top of the CG is 2.5 in wide and 2 inches tall right now with more calyxes sprouting new growth and they are covered in a milky frosting. Pictures don't do her or PW justice.

:thedoubletake: Looking great, man!

When I checked this morning the temp was 14.1C considering the low was 0C I would say that the room with it's uninsulated walls is doing as well as expected.

Both plants have new bud growth and they are getting frosted well. The top of the CG plant under the lights doesn't really show the trichome development so I took a pic of her in the dark.

This morning temps were 14C lights on. Watering today with Tiger Bloom/Bembe. Will post some pics later after watering.

I know that I didn't train the PW correctly, and yesterday I got to thinking about how I could improve another grow with a plant that is long and spindly. This is the second plant that has long and spindly growth. I could prune more but instead I am thinking about a horizonal grow trying to make a variation of a SOG out of one plant. I will provide a diagram soon to help explain. :nomo:

Did something a bit unexpected today, I topped Pibeurt. I have been looking at the lower interior and after considerable thought :smokin: came to the conclusion that in order to have the lower growth mature I would remove the tallest stems and lower the lights. From the pics you will see a lot of white growth that has a while to reach maturity.

Finally , :nomo: due to network speed/bandwidth or lack thereof been unable to connect.
Anyhow last couple of days the bud growth has been steady but with the age of the plant and the cooler temps the CG has started showing a majority of golden growth. The top sugar leaves are starting to turn color at the edges.

PW on the other had looks like a tangled mess but it's a mess of buds with the frosting starting to cover them well.
