So I have decided to start my next chapter in growing... I have been away from the craft for about 2 years... So I am pulling my gear out and getting setup... I am not an expert nor am I veteran grower... But I have run about 5 or 6 harvests in a perpetual setup. Originally I had a 3x3 tent for veg, which I'll be using again alongside a closet space about 4x10. This round I won't have the closet but I have purchased a 4x8 tent which should arrive here shortly... I am accustomed to running HID, but I plan on changing that to LED for cost purposes...

To start, I have opened up a 6 inch hole into my attic to vent my 3x3 veg tent. The hole was cut and I placed my ducting down and into the tent.

Next I got some bleach water to clean anything that may contaminate the seedlings and plants... It is very important to maintain a sterile environment when growing medical or recreational marijuana.

Next I installed my 6 inch vortex inline fan. The fan only pulls just over 400 CFM... I do not add a carbon filter in my veg tent so I do not need a high capacity inline fan. The Vortex fan is really quiet and it gets the job done... I think I picked up this fan from Amazon for 175 bucks...

I then added my DIY CFL light hood... I actually made this myself with a tin ducting that was cut and some light sockets added... All parts where purchased from Home Depot. I plan on using the CFL to start but eventually I plan to upgrade to a small HLG quantum board.

So I plan on running Nectar for the God's nutrients... This has been the only nutrient line up I have used and I like it very much. Ian currently waiting on some beans to arrive. Initially I'll be running some Zkittlez and Chemdog #4. I have a couple bag beans that are supposedly a Gelato cross but I am not certain... So this is where I am at and I am creating this journal for myself as a future reference and documented source.

Yea I actually do got a Lil redneck in me haha about 1/4. But that hood was from my very first attempt at growing and it stuck with me it worked so well... I wanna use it for clones later and grab a small hlg.

Alrighty then, back with some good news. I just received my HLG 550 V2 Rspec... And I must say I was disappointed in how it arrived... It was shipped in the box it was nested in with no protection at all... No discretion at all... But the unit was definitely in tact and looked crispy new with all hardware... I fired it up and walah it was Humming brightly... Waiting on me beans and will get started.... So excited... I definitely want a second already...

Buttoned up my window with black trash bags and foil for anything from getting in or out. Looks fine from the outside... Appears to be some black curtains perhaps, plus its second floor so nothing but the punk ass pigeons are near by....

4x8 Opulent tent has just been set up... I just got the tent in yesterday and i have to admit the tent is very high quality and not a bad price on Amazon for $180 give or take.... Very thick material and just really nice zippers... I would definitely recommend this tent...

I got the ventilation put in for my portable AC and inline fan... It is venting straight to my attic just the same as the 3x3 veg tent. They are both 6" ports but i may go back in and switch the inline port to 8". I will be getting an 8" inline fan for roughly 700 to 800 CFM with carbon filter attached...

I got the AC unit in and my HLG 550 V2 Rspec installed... I am currently testing the environment by running the AC at 62° which is the lowest setting and got the quantum board running at max setting... The tent is fully closed up and i am going to let it run for an hour to see what temps i am getting... I also placed my step stool under the light fixture with my digital thermometer to see what temps will be at canopy height...

I am now waiting on some beans, which have been shipped and tracked for a monday delivery... Ill be running Zkittlez and Chemdog #4 in Fox Farm and coco mixed in with perlite... They will be feed with Nectar for the God's and Fish Shit and WC teas.... I can't wait... Bare with me... To be continued...

Got my seeds in today from Growers Choice Seeds... 3 Zkittlez and 3 Chemdog #4. They all looked ok... One of the Zkittlez seeds appeared different, larger than the other two... And one of the Chem seeds looked light in color as if it was immature... The seeds cost me roughly $60 and I hope they all germinate...

Growers Choice asks that you soak in water for 14 to 18 hours to honor thier germination policy... So I got them in glasses in the dark...

Hoping these beans pop in a couple days... I got my Fox Farm Ocean Forest with Coco ready to go... I got some ne worm castings and a sample of Fish Sh¡t I'll be using in a tea... Running Nectar for the Gods line... I really considered Earth Juice i just dont want to risk the pH debate surround EJ.... I may get the line later and try practicing on a plant to dial it in... I do have a Grand Daddy Purple seed coming and i also have a bag seed... I tols myself i only wanted 4 plants but that may turn to 8...but i do have the space in the 4x8 tent but i dont want to run anything more than 8 ladies.... Welp its begun...

Seeds been submersed in distilled water for 17.5 hours, they are now in there final paper towel home until hatched... Should be in some soil this weekend...

Thanks man, I'll never give up that hood... It was my first love... Going to move it into the 2x4 cloner tent soon as I can... But it always makes me smile...

Alright... Back at it like a crack addict... The Zkittlez all have popped and look very strong and healthy... Also a bagseed i found in my daughter's stash has popped... I put them in 1/3 coco, perlite, and FFOC... Did a slurry prior to planting and soil was a 6.0 pH... I feed with NFTG herc and oly up just to get them in a decent pH range... pH'd to 7.0 to buffer that soil... NFTG asks for 6.5 in the root zone...

Got the 3x3 setup with my redneck (as Patient Puffer called it) DIY CFL hood, with some fans and my inline humming... Temp has been hanging out at 81° and im ok with that...

Unfortunately my Chemdog 4 beans have not popped yet... Its been only 4 days so im going to give it a good week until i get nervous about them...

But its day fucking 1... Dammit boy!!!!

Checking on the babies... Looking ok... Soil is still damp... One thing i learned is to never over water... Always let the medium dry out... Reason is it promotes root development... The roots will try and find moisture in the soil and so they grow further down... I was a bit nervous because initially i water them with pHd herculean harvest nutrients and last night before bed i felt they where a bit sad... Even when i got up this am to check in on them i felt sadness in the babies... Keynote, do not give nutrients to seedlings... What i should have done was just flushed the soil to get my root zone in range and water normally with a 6.5 pH... Well hey ive been out the craft too long... But i got this...

Chemdog #4 still has not popped... Ive never had seeds pop going on 5 days now... Kinda sucks but imma keep my faith and keep them in the moistened paper towel... I did change out the paper towel to a fresh one... But at least i have a GDP seed arriving Monday... If all i got is 5 plants in the 4x8 thats fine... I plan on mainlining to 32 colas... I would like to anyway... Itll be probably a longer veg butnif i can keep them low and mainlined i should fill up a decent space and have a beautiful canopy... So it is what it is, but if the Chem dont pop i will be reaching out to Growers Choice Seeds about some replacements... Will see how that goes... Anyway good night and God bless....
