My babies turned 2 weeks today (since first set of leaves)

I currently have 3 plants, i used 3/5 seeds and all 3 took :) , I'll take better and more closer pics for next week, The big leaves i cut off as the plant had a rough start and the leaves looked a little rough so i took them off, the small leaves are now 3 finger leaves, after 1 week. I'm kinda shocked, i didn't really notice much change until i see my pics side by side.

Ok thanks i'll post pics here from now on.

It's a start. I usually grow in RDWC but I have a few soil grows under my belt. Talk about how you're doing it. What sort of lights, grow room etc.
I didn't write about my setup because i know it was gonna make some other growers cringe or shake their heads. I'm a first time grower and didn't have a bunch of cash to do it the right way the first time, i will be getting more resources along the way and in time for the 2nd grow perhaps. The plants are in a 5x15ft? room i'm not using the whole space but thats the size of the room, it has one window that i blocked so no light gets in, its also the room my water pump and hot water tank are in, it stays at a pretty nice temp, if it gets to cold i can just crack the door and heat from the pellet stove in the next room blows right in. I'm using a Mars 300w LEDm i know not enough or the best some might say but im gonna get more light in the next couple weeks, as for soil i currently have the cheap $3 walmart brand soil, i didn't wanna over do it when they were young, i do plan on getting promix or other organic stuff from a nursery very soon, i also have 20-25 year old horse manure outside that i may give them, i had super hot peppers last year they were not growing so i gave them horse crap and bam you'd think i gave them steroids. As for water i give them distilled, i never check PH as i don't got a tester or PH up,down yet but they seem to be doing ok. I have fed them once so far with miracle gro thats high in nitrogen (12) i put half the recommended dose, 8 drops in a liter of water and shared it between then. I have plans to get other nutes for when they go into flower, i don't plan on using MC the whole time. I think that's it.

We are not here to judge. We are here to help, in ways that we can. Not everyone has money to buy that "uber supercrop quantum star light of magnitude." You start with what you have, and we try to steer you to the next item you could really use. All of our input are suggestions.

There are people who do this successfully on a "shoestring" budget.

No one here should ever make you feel "less than".

You know the next things that can help you grow, so we will leave those comments out. Be aware, it will come up again later in the thread from members who didn't read this post.

Thanks, majority of people over on Reddit think they're professions and know everything. :)

Don't be ashamed of what you have to work with. We've all been there. Everybody has a preconceived notion of what it "should be like". If you are able to do better than do it. there's always the Jack off that HAS the money for a Under Current 20 site hydro rig, crazy lights, a split AC and still can't grow. Like a spoil child the dude with the money has no respect for what he has. Meanwhile the guy behind Home Depot looking for 5 gallon pots, that has a thirst for knowledge. and most importantly, the guy who isnt afraid to ask questions to make it better will be the guy to watch after a few grows. Let's face it. If you have to make the most out of very little you will go much farther than the guy who thinks his stuff is the best, so he will be better at it.

Don't ever get confused with yield and quality. I just finished 2 plants. The first was supposed to be Lemon Skunk from DNA. I don't know what it was, but it wasn't LS. Anyway, it yielded 16.2 oz. The other is Alcopulco Gold. AG isnt completely dry yet but won't yield more than 5 or 6 oz. The quality of the AG plant is so much better I wouldn't take 2 pounds of the big plant for it. Just do your best. Learn, there are some amazing growers here.and they're all cool, which is rare. Improve, you don't have to be rich to grow great weed. Be persistent.

Ya i'll buy more stuff and get better over time, I've been growing other plants for like 15 years, i have a garden every year and can tell when the plant is happy or sad. I'm more of a low budget enjoy the ride person then, lets spend $1000 and let the equipment do all the work. Not saying everyone with expensive setups don't know anything but there are lots that don't and wonder why their plants are so small.

Sorry dude, i got hung up on the first part of your reply.

If i may. First, add nutrients very sliwly, less is more for now. Miracle Grow is the lapdog of Satan. Your head is in the right spot, nitrogen is they key player for you now, but you would do much better by starting with a nutrient from a shop that specialises in nutes for weed. If you have the means, try General Hydro's Flora trio Micro, Grow, Bloom. Also, make sure your soil has no time release nutrients. This may have been an issue in the past too much "stuff" in your soil. If your in soil and feeding properly you probably wont need a Ph device.

I live in Canada so some nutes are hard to find, or expensive online i also only fed half the dose it says as a know MG is satans blood lol. I plan to go to the 1 and only hydro store in town soon.

Oh, sorry. I know some things are harder to get a hold of up there. I would recommend looking online. These are cheap nutes, i haven't heard of anyone having issues with finding them up there, but I could be wrong.

Quick Update/Question:

Should i top my plants or at least #1, It seems to be growing much faster then the other 2, you can differently tell she (I Hope) takes her vitamins every day. 2 and 3 are about same size. what you think top? Also the leafs look kinda messed in these pics i don't know why Windows thinks its a good idea to brighten and warp them when all i want was to draw on the pic. Thats and the flash on my phone in a dark room, guess i'll know better for next time. but the leaves are a nice dark green.

I'd let it get a little larger myself. In all honesty I don't think it would hurt a thing if you did it now. There are usually tons of opinions on this it's like defoliation and which light to use. Everyone has the best way to do it. The reason I say that it wouldn't hurt to top it now, is it's pretty clear your plants want to grow. They look great

Thanks i may top #1 and let 2 and 3 grow little longer. I really hope 1 is a girl, i'd love to make clones of her. :)

Plants look healthy! I agree with @Stltoed, would wait for another node or two but you should be fine to top now too.

Reading the start of your journal, made me think about when I first learned indoor growing 30+ years ago. Other than the basic idea of what to do, everything was trial and error and done with "materials on hand". There was no hydroponic store, no online purchases, no internet forums and practically no budget. Just mainstream gardening supplies and a will to adapt it to cannabis. Trust me, these MacGyver grows will teach you more than you ever thought possible - both what to do and what not to do. Hopefully you will go through less pitfalls thanks to the journals and advice of the others on here! Once armed with that knowledge and your own experience, then you will know where to put the money for upgrades.

I am subbed either way...pomaika'i!

Morning @JonL92, before I get lost in my travels today, " Welcome " my friend. I see you've met @Bonsaiweed ive only recently made his acquaintance and a sterling chap to have on your team.
I haven't had the pleasure of meeting the rest of your support club, and I echo everything these guys have said. I have also recently started ( a year or so ) and I'm in South Africa and I am still using CFLs and a DIY box to grow inside and trust me I'm still learning every single day..

If you feel intimidated come say hi over in my garden and I can answer any questions you may have and if not I'll certainly find out...

Happy growing my friend.....:Namaste:
