Re: Bandit420's Hydro Coco Quasi Hempy Grow

well ive been goin rounds with a buddy about c02 and i have been skeptical i must admit but you have thoroughly convinced me that i need to save up and invest, ive been slowly working on getting my room as sealed up as possible however, i must first be in the market for ducting and inline fans, unfortunately it seems like the day will never come i have finally gotten it all together lol

All in due time!

Everything looks amazing bandit an incredible feat i must say, bravo my friend!

Bandit, I don't know how I missed this journal up till now, but am sure glad I got here! I knew I'd subscribe before the end of the first page, the Pink Floyd cinched the deal, and when I saw the hashman cookies, I had no choice! :)

Great job on putting together an awesome system and best wishes for a healthy harvest!
:welldone:

BTW...I'm using the STG hail in my waterfarms with good success, and that should work fine in your type of system, which is similar. I would most definately AVOID the STG grow cubes. Stick to rockwool, rapid rooters, or anything else for germination.

Thanks Blazin!
CO2 is a tricky animal. If it's not injected or supplied properly the effects are barely noticable but when done right it will definately add the wow factor to a garden.
I've messed with all sorts of co2 methods now. CO2 Boost Bucket, ExHale Bags, timed injections with a tank and now automated injections with a tank/controller.
From those experiences I can tell you dont waste your time and money on Boost or ExHale. Those products do work but they only replace what your plant uses, they will not bring the ppm up into the range where you'll see explosive results.
For a tank set up the only place where it will cost some big $ is on the controller. These can be at about $200-$250 for a DigiGrow all the way up to around $800 for a Fuzzy Logic type controller.
For the tanks I highly recommend hunting craigslist and ebay for used deals. If you dont have the tank filled at a welders supply you will most likely be exchanging it for a full tank at the hydroshop.
For a new aluminum tank it will run around $140 shipping included from Amazon. If you know you wont be doing the exchange thing a new aluminum tank might be the better route since it will be a brand new light weight aluminum bottle and it will be current on the hydrotest.
The hydrotest stamps are good for about 5 years I think. After they expire you take it to the welders supply to have it retested or have a new valve installed, whatever is needed. If the guys at the welders supply ever ask what you use the tank for, tell them you have a kegerator or you use it to fill paintball canisters.
For the regulator you'll want one that can work with a controller. There you will need to look for regulators from DigiGrow, CAP, or Titan. Hydrofarm regulators will not work with a controller. I also recommend ebay or craigslist for a good used regulator to save $

Thanks for stopping by Mr. Krip!
I'm glad you like the system. There's several things I've learned with this run and where I need to modify or make adjustments. I'll be posting about that in the near future.
There's still a lot of room for improvement...this is just the beginning. But if this thing is producing like this on it's first run I can only imagine what it can accomplish once it's dialed in and fine tuned.

:rofl::rofl::rofl: You're too Much Dude!! :rofl::rofl::rofl:

The articles are good but maybe the mag needs another forum...similar to the infamous forum where we can tell tales of VW buses filled with topless 420 cheerleaders offering rainbow colored buds and other "favors" :Rasta:

btw my wake & bake this Sunday morn is actually Kona Coffee w/ Baileys and a fat bowl of bubble hash that will probably last all day

Hay Bandit, man. I'm glad I wandered into your place before the 1st quarter is over 😄

Coco to another level... you're showing it's good straight, on the rocks, or as a mixer :thumb:

I've got a Power Plant cookie just kicking in... ummmmm...

Re: Bandit420's Hydro Coco Quasi Hempy Grow

Speaking of purps....check this out....

IMG_17512.JPG

It's kinda hard to pick up with my camera but it looks like these Blackwater seedlings are already starting to get some purple tint in the leaves.
None of the other seedlings have this going on so I am very intrigued! I've never grown anything that's meant to be purple so now I'm wondering if these will have purple pigments throughout the grow?
These next few weeks should be very interesting.
I only hope I get at least one good female from these 4 Blackwaters. Last thing I need is a purple sausage party going on in the grow room :ganjamon:

Re: Bandit420's Hydro Coco Quasi Hempy Grow

I checked on the blooming crop and they're getting very close. Tonight the final flush will begin and I'll probably chop within the next two weeks.
As it comes to an end I'm going over what needs to be changed or adjusted.
This grow was more or less about finding limitations using this new system, medium, and nute mix. Now that I know what the general cap is on a lot of elements of this grow room I can work within the boundaries to produce an optimal crop.

The first major change will come in another expansion of the Quasi Hempy from 9 sites to 11 sites. I'm also going to improve the drain collection to not only collect more run off but collect it faster.

Here's the floorplan now and the next pic will be the improved floor plan...

old_floor_plan.png

Before

Untitled.png

After

The main improvment will be using three seperate drain lines, one per row of plants, instead of daisy chaining all of the buckets to only one drain line

Another upgrade will be ditching the soda bottle crates used for elevating the garden to drain into the collection bucket in favor of a cut to fit solid platform raised up only 2.5"

I'll also be adjusting how and how often I water.
At one point during this grow i recycled run off for up to 12 waterings, recycling and refreshing the water for about 3 full weeks. Now that the crop is in week 8 it's finally showing signs of burning. If I was to keep recycling I would definately change that plan and only recycle runoff for one week or three waterings.
Since the new coco blend will be a bit dirtier with more organic matter the run off will not be reused. Whatever the collection bucket pulls in it will be drained to a waste line instead of going back to the main rez.
Hopefully the next drain to waste plan wont have me going thru nutes like crazy. I think it might stay about the same because I should'nt need to water as often but i wont know until I'm at that point. If all goes as planned it should operate like a soil garden more than a hydro garden.

Another adjustment will come in how I use AirPots. I only really use them for veg and mamas these days. I've modified the small seed starter and veg pots by ditching the bottom screen and using the coco mat cut to fit as the bottom screen. I've also dumped the little buttons that hold the pots together in favor of zip ties. These two mods have made transplanting out of these pots much easier.
The Blackwater & LA Woman seedlings are already in the modified airpots and so far so good.

Wholesale Headsop

Last week after seeing an amazing triple bubbler on 52 Firestone's thread I went searching the sponsors to see if i could find something I liked.
I came across this thread Sale - Hand Blown Glass on Glass Water Pipe and saw a cool bong I liked that Wheadshop was promoting.
I was almost ready to buy the bong when I found a really sick triple bubbler on his site for only $75. I thought to myself that the bong can wait, I want the bubbler so I ordered it.
Two days after the order I recieved an email saying that he had dropped the bubbler during packaging and that one of the handles had broken off but the bubbler still worked, it was just missing a handle now.
JB gave me the option of keeping it and he would give me another handled bubbler sherlock, a refund, or if there was another piece I liked I could have it.
Unbeknownst to JB that to me the one thing I did'nt like about the triple bubbler was the fumed handle, the handle that broke off. So for him to tell me that handle was off but the bubbler still worked was awesome imo!
So now the bubbler will look the way I want it to look and he's offering me a free pipe! Way too cool! I play it cool and decline the extra sherlock but I did ask for a really wicked color changing sidecar bubbler. I figured I might as well take shot right? Well JB says no problem, thanks for being cool about the mishap and btw, I'm throwing in a few extra freebies for you.
I thought, "Cool, I'll probably get a free grinder or maybe a lighter, something like that"
He also says it's shipping out today (last Saturday) and I'll send you the tracking info. Within seconds I get that info.
So yesterday (Monday) the package arrives and I'm thinking "damn that was fast! Did he ship it from my neighbors house!" The package made it across the country in only a day and a half and one of those days was a Sunday!!!
I get into the package like it's Christmas morning and I'm blown away! Not only is everything perfectly packaged but my man JB packed an entire freakin' headshop into my box!!!
Check out these sick pieces! The triple bubbler is almost too nice to use and the sidecar is even better live than it's web pic. But the freebies are what blew me away!

Re: Bandit420's Hydro Coco Quasi Hempy Grow

Wow, Bandit, nice deal! :welldone:
Merry X-Mas! :high-five:
And Happy New year to you bro! This was a super sweet deal....these pieces all together probably would have been about $300+ if i bought them all here locally

That's one strong ass pipe if it was dropped and only the handle broke off:) What a cool shop for taking care of you like that, definitely great customer service. :high-five:
Strong and heavy! I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of all these pieces.
I always have a thing for freebies...seeds mostly and HTG sends free stickers & lighters..I even get excited about free toys in my Friut Loops but Wheadshop took freebies and service to another level!
:roorrip:

Re: Bandit420's Hydro Coco Quasi Hempy Grow

I hear ya on the freebies, I always hit stores up for samples and stuff.

I talked to my buddy who made the green pipe I just got and he's gonna make me another one, Told him to twist it up a little more cause it needs to be Bandit approved:) The shop is getting their website set up and I'll shoot you a link when it's up.

lol nice! I think my best freebie score was when H&G came out. The shop here loaded me up with everything H&G had to offer except for the rooting solution. It tallied up to about $250 worth of free nutes! :slide:
I still need to get with the fella down here to make a water filter for my vape. I've been back three times but keep missing him. :smokin:

Re: Bandit420's Hydro Coco Quasi Hempy Grow

Hey Bandit, really enjoy your coco grows! I can only hope to see half the results you get with coco. On my first grow ever right now and using cocogro from bonticare using 100% coco coir right now and kinda regreting. Kinda seems like it stays wet far too long, gonna try mixing when i repot

Re: Bandit420's Hydro Coco Quasi Hempy Grow

Their roots excelerator is $$$$ Did you use their product and what did you think? I was reading the What nutes are you using thread last night and noticed that The Butcher and PitViper were both using H&G at one point so I need to get to their grows to check it out.

Went back to the smoke shop yesterday to return a ash catcher that I got a few days ago and picked up another one that matches the bong I got my gf for her B-day. I'll put pics up later when I update the clones I took a couple days ago.

:tokin:

The H&G was good. It was like working with Ducth Master Gold. EZ to use and ph perfect with my tap water, no adjustments needed.
I used it in an ebb & gro the season before i came online here...wish i would've taken pics of that grow but oh well. It's works great but Man that price tag for the entire line is very steep. And yeah that Roots Excellerator is very $$$$ but I've heard it's the best around. I do pretty good with Vita Grow & Clonex so until those fail me, H&G cloning solution will stay on the wish list :)

btw I have yet another piece to show you...this one is a chillum but not just any chillum...and I found another freebie in the Wholesale Headshop box!....A really nice cnc aluminum grinder. It's freakin' awesome!!

Thanks for stopping by Kaption!
I know the exact coco you speak of Buddy and I dont like that stuff either. I really dont like any of the mushy coir or any of the stuff that comes in bricks to use by itself.
My preference is the chunky stuff. It's like working with spongy hydroton. It does'nt hold all the water or salt like the mush does. If i do use the mushy stuff i cut it with the chunky by about 1 gallon of mush to 5 gallons of chunk.

Re: Bandit420's Hydro Coco Quasi Hempy Grow

Hey Dude
Looked back at last pic and seen some plants that been sprinkeled with the dust from heaven. Doing real well Bandit. Looking forward to see the main bud pic coming out. I you got a 'hempy' going. As in passive rite? I had a partner here that use to grow. As in hempy. I know I'm speaking out the side my neck and need to read back afew pages but I cheated. I'll look back now but I wanted to be sure I posted....Keepem Green
