Icemud's LED Overkill - 3x Advanced LED XTE 300s - Blue Dream - University Hills OG

Re: Icemud's LED Overkill - 3x Advanced LED XTE 300s - Blue Dream - University Hills

So here is a quick update of the grow tent for tonight... I am still going to veg them for probably another week, the new growth seems pretty healthy as I believe they are recovering from their deficiency.

I gave them a blast of T and J tea today with 1 spoonful of Grow by D&G to help them recover plus some yucca extract and also gave them a foliar spray of this same mix.

They seemed to perk up quite a bit as they enjoyed the bath :)

One thing I noticed about how these plants grew under the blue EX veg lights today was how tightly stacked the nodes are...on all the plants including my OG... Very impressive :)

Here are some pics :)

I was also toying with the light settings to show how the coverage for each light spreads..

HooWee What an update :high-five:

Re: Icemud's LED Overkill - 3x Advanced LED XTE 300s - Blue Dream - University Hills

Ice, I need to pick your brain about CMH. I like the idea of mixing HID with LED for some of the same reasons you listed. I've been toying with the idea of running a vertical 400 CMH with a 120W 6-band LED panel in each corner. :cheesygrinsmiley:

But I keep getting rotten PAR and PPF numbers for the CMH. I know you always liked CMH, and I love the spectrum, but what I find says the efficiency isn't good. The PAR/Watt conversion for CMH is 2/3 that of HPS? When you see the spectrum chart for CMH it looks great, so I'm not getting why the PAR/Watt is supposedly so bad. Lumens/watt is lower than hps, too.

Do you have better numbers? It was hard to find much for CMH.

Google "growers house ceramic metal halide par" and you will find a chart and video which compares different LED to CMH. The CMH really shines at 3' and 4' heights where as the LED provide more PAR at the closer heights. Also the CMH seems to spread the light much better but has slightly less intensity than some of the LED's.

I have no experience Ice, but 1 x XTE300 per plant sounds a bit over the top to me:whoa:. You're running 2 plants per light in this grow and still consider it overkill!

Maybe when I mentioned tent sizes, I gave the wrong impression. And sadly, funds will not be unlimited! I may only utilize 3ft of width give or take and there needs to be space to manoeuvre myself and do maintenance inside the tent, to keep odour under control as much as possible. 8 XTE300s!!!!! - not any time soon man!!!! My entire grow room budget would unlikely cover that lighting setup!! I was thinking more along the lines of having either 1 or 2 Sun Systems LEC 315 units (each one solid for a 3 x 3 area) and some high powered LED panels and alternate them. Still some way off right now anyway, so got some time to see what new products are launched and if any great deals pop up. Not to mention sit back and enjoy watching guys like you put in all the hard work.:smokin:

Thanks so much for your kind offer to hit you up for advice. You can bank on it!

If I'm not mistaken, the annual "Adult Entertainment Industry Expo" kicks off there in a couple of days. Coincidence? HAVE FUN!!!!

Hey HeavyC... sorry it took me a while to get back to you but I've been out all week on a business trip.

Yeah my suggestion for using the 1x XTE300 per plant was based on "perfect lighting" but definitely you could get by with less.

I think if you even went with like 4 of the XTE's and alternate with the LED system you would be fine, and it definitely would be amazing spectrum for growing. The only reason I suggested more LED's was because the light, unless hung fairly high doesn't spread out much for a large footprint like HID's do, therefor for good coverage more lights are needed unless hung at 24" or more above the canopy.

But I think if you went with like 4 of the XTE 300s and 2 or 3 315 systems it would do your garden space very well

Doooode....do you know how bad I wanted to get over to that expo....man..... unfortuately it was 4 very long days and nights in vegas and by the time I was done each day with the tradeshow....I was beat.... and had to be up at 5am each morning ready to sell my ass off... lol but made some great sales, a lot of money... I work for a web development company and we had one of the largest booths at the show, and had beer plus 10 gorgeous models so it was actually fun as hell...but in the back of my mind I knew where I would rather be :)

Still, glad to have you back in town to show me how this shit's done!

Re: Icemud's LED Overkill - 3x Advanced LED XTE 300s - Blue Dream - University Hills

Update Time!!!

So I got back from my trip and immediately started up a earthjuice tea brewing for feeding last night. I mixed into 5 gallons of water: earth juice grow, humbold organic bloom (0-10-0 with 10%calcium, basically its SRP and calcium carbonate), floroblend organic tea .5-1-1, and some microbe life plus C, within hours this was bubbling with action.

I fed the girls 2 cups of water each, and also got a foliar spray going of Amaze, PGR, carboload and organic b by adv nutr, cold pressed seaweed, and some heavy 16 micronutrients.. sprayed them all....

They are looking much better and seem to mostly have corrected the deficiencies they have. I most likely will be cloning them tonight, but only the blue dream, black cherry cola, and university hills, the rest this will be there last run.

Here are the photos for last night...before the foliar feeding but after watering...

Re: Icemud's LED Overkill - 3x Advanced LED XTE 300s - Blue Dream - University Hills

Here are the updates of the other veg tent holding my mothers of OGiesel, GSC Thin mints, Churchberry and Harlequin...

They also got the same amount of the earthjuice tea as my other plants, and they also received a foliar feeding. The photos were taken after the foliar feeding.

I will take some more photos under normal light tonight. BTW I am still running the panels at 1/2 power...these all blue Advanced EX VEG lights are freaking bright!
