Love that composter binThanks Michael.
I've been composting:
Avocado pit and rind
carrots
Tomatoes
Celery
Coffee grinds (I know now that cannabis doesn't like this)
Egg shells
ash from my pellet stove
and fan leaves.
I also dumped in part of my old nutrients when I did a reservoir change. It's starting to get really heavy to turn. I'm wondering how do I know when it's time to take the soil out? Should I stop adding stuff so the stuff that's in there can finish decomposing? Was it unwise to add nutrient rich water directly to the compost?
I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing compost wise. I would love some advice if anyone has experience.
Oh boy, I feel your pain! I've been playing with a new bucket system- had a few flooding incidents.@Rexer yeah the compost bin came with the house when I bought it in December so I figured I had to put it to good use.
I started futzing around with the under canopy lighting (bad idea), because it looked like the leaves were getting all distorted trying to point down rather than up. I was trying to move the lights to the sides and I accidentally knocked out the hose for one of the buckets, which proceeded to empty out the entire reservoir change I did last night (thanks pump on a timer).
After a good 45 minutes after the lights were supposed to be off, I was trying to vacuum up the spilt water, pouring a new reservoir with new nutes, etc. Ugh.
Crisis averted though. No permanent damage. Long story short, if it aint broke, don't fix it.
One thing I've noticed is the rather long internodal spacing. I think there were just too many plants in there and the canopy was too dense, so the other plants had to climb to get light.
I've been considering doing some super cropping. Anyone have any experience? Is now the right time to do it? I've been just bending the stems (LST) back to try to even out the canopy which has produced some big hearty stems.
I've also noticed the candy queen is a lime green color and not developing as well as the other strains, I think they may have a nute deficiency. Will increase ppm when I do a reservoir change for them tonight or tomorrow
What's going on in this beautiful garden?Oh boy, I feel your pain! I've been playing with a new bucket system- had a few flooding incidents.
Look on the brightside- you could have accidentally knocked it loose and not noticed.
I have done some supercroping. It's a high stress training- it works but with anything the puts high stress should be done with care.
If you know your going to be doing it- my personal trick is to soften the spot I'll be bending. I'll put my middle finger up against my index, and place the stem between those fingers and my thumb. Then very gently soften the spot. Sometimes the stem will be soft enough to go ahead and do it (supercrop), other times it'll soften the spot up as it's repeated.
As to if you should do it, I dunno. Maybe @StoneOtter could chime in? He keeps a great even canopy!
He was looking for advice on whether he should supercrop the taller branches. What's going on in this beautiful garden?
Ah. Supercropping is a cool tool!He was looking for advice on whether he should supercrop the taller branches.
How late into flower do you supercrop? Is 2.5 weeks too late?Ah. Supercropping is a cool tool!
