Kanno 26: Soil, RQS, Bubble Kush, Feminized, 2nd Journal

Hi everyone, I'm halfway through week 5 of bloom today. Based on how the girls look, I think they still have about 2-3 weeks ahead of them, I think, and this is how it looks to me after yesterday's watering, when they took around 20 liters.

Hello everyone, I have a question for you, I already discussed it with @Jon yesterday but I would like to hear other opinions about defoliation in flower if you do it and how often @Bill284, @Azimuth, @StoneOtter, @HashFart, thanks for the answers I really appreciate it will help.
Hi Kanno, normally the plant regulates 95% of that. I make it a point to save leaves but do take shoots that will grow into not much or nothing at all. I break my rules sometimes because some plants just get so bushy I will remove several but leave as many as possible. Check out my Cherries DubeLee journal. Today I posted on one that I defoliated heavy for me.

Good morning Kanno. :ciao:
I'm not a huge fan of defol.
Before flip I tidy under her skirt.
After 3 weeks I do the same.
Anything below the light line I don’t think will be useful will get removed.
I leave everything else even damaged leaves.
If it dies and falls off fine.
Everything else stays.
I like thick bushy girls.
Lots do it with success, I'm not one though.
Training them wide and flat helps.

I do mostly the same as the others. I take out the bud sites on everything in the lower half of the plant but leave the fan leaves as I think of them as nutrient sinks that the plant can draw on to help any deficiencies since after stretch it's not going to grow much in the way of new foliage.

But I don't do a very heavy defoliation at all. I supercrop leaves that are shading other buds, but I like leaving them on the plant.

Hi @Bill284, @Jon, @Azimuth, @StoneOtter, thanks everyone for your replies. In the end, I removed only a few leaves at the top that covered the buds and were a little wet when they were with each other, otherwise I left them alone. I'm a little afraid to do it in the fifth week in bloom. But hopefully it will benefit them. Thanks again for your help. :Namaste:

Hi @Kanno26 , you big tease. Lol! Your plants look amazing. Nice job on the defoliation you did. If you don’t mind, may I offer a hint? It’s a trick I use to know where to pluck leaves from.

On a plant by plant basis, stand exactly center above the middle of the plant and take a picture straight down, getting the entire plant in the frame. I go as far as starting the phone right in the middle of the plant and then lifting it up until the whole thing is in the frame. This photo is your defoliation reference point. What it shows is what your light sees. You can look at the picture and easily see if you have fans blocking buds. This differs significantly from viewing it from any other angle, especially our “normal” working the plants angle.

It works well and you might find it helpful. I can see lots of easy large fans that are blocking real good buds just on a quick glance at the last pictures. Whenever I do it I’m always surprised at what I see because I thought I had it all and then I see I missed a lot.

Thanks @Jon that's a great tip I'll definitely try your manual. It will certainly help in finding excess leaves ;).

Hello everyone, so here I am with another UPDATE. The girls are in their sixth week of flowering and I think they are doing great in my opinion, they have plus or minus the last two weeks, but we will see by the trichome.
