Kanno 26 Introduces ViparSpectra KS5000 And Grow 3x Mimosa EVO Together

The question, I guess, is how much air to the roots is sufficient. Just like humans, just because we are walking around in the open air with unlimited access, doesn't mean we use more of it.

I think it's the combination of sufficient and constant availability of both water/nutrients and air to the lower roots that is the true secret of all of these bottom watering systems like SIP and SWICK.

SWICKs grown using cloth pots with much more access to available air to the roots don't grow bigger plants than SIPs which leads me to the conclusion that, beyond a certain point, availability to more air doesn't matter all that much.

Hey everyone so here I am with another update with the @ViparSpectra KS5000 and my Mimosa EVO stage. Yesterday they started week 6 in vegetables and I'm still continuing with LST. The girls are doing well and one girl I broke a branch during training so I splinted her and I hope she can make it and save her. This is what it looks like.
IMG_20230418_195407.jpg

So that's the splint and now it's the girls' turn. And they look like this, the first two are in SIP.
IMG_20230418_192506.jpg
IMG_20230418_192450.jpg

The third is in the airpot.
IMG_20230418_192435.jpg

Otherwise, the KS5000 works great, I have it running at 50% power and the girls are fine with it, I'll see how it goes and at the end of the week I might run it at 75% but we'll see how they do.
IMG_20230418_192813.jpg
IMG_20230418_192800.jpg

Otherwise, I would like to know from you how I should proceed with the removal of other sheets. If you can advise me @Azimuth, @Bill284, @Jon, @StoneOtter. Thank you all for stopping by. :Namaste:

Hi @Kanno26. Not sure I understand your question. Removal of other sheets? Could you explain, please?
On your splint - good idea. Just one issue. I zoomed on the break. It was significant. If you zoom it you can see a rather large gap where the stem isn’t lined up with the break 100%. See what I mean? You’ll have a way better chance at saving it if you take a piece of strong tape (I use duct tape) and wrap it tightly around the break with the two parts lined up 100%, as if it hadn’t broken…then redo the splint as you have it. Just a suggestion. I see what you’re going for but you’re asking an awful lot from the plant, and it’s wasting energy on the repair. So your goal is to make it as easy as possible on the plant. See?

Hi Kanno, healthy girls!

Something's not translating properly I think. I don't understand the question with removal of sheets either.

I'm guessing he means leaves. If so, what I usually do is remove the nodes going straight up  and down, which is every other node on seedlings.

The ones that start straight up will try to become dominant and mess up a flat canopy in flower and the opposite side that starts down has to contort itself to reach up for the light.

The ones that come out on the sides are easy to train outward toward the container edges.

That also helps to thin the interior of the plant to help with airflow.

Thanks for taking the time, as @Azimuth writes, it's about removing leaves and shoots to make it as efficient as possible for growth. You're right @Jon, I just noticed that the fracture doesn't fit, today I'll try to fix it with tape.
Good morning Kanno. :ciao: :high-five:
Hope everything is going well.
Girls look great. :welldone:
I don't do a lot of leaf removal.
I like big bushy girls.
But I see what your going for.
Personally I'd let them grow a bit then see what is underneath that won't see any light.
Then remove that.
Just my 2 cents.
I'm sure you will get some good advice from the others. :thumb:
Take care my friend.

Hey @Bill284 thanks for betting. Do you not train the plants at all and let them grow freely?

I bend over the main stem then grow them as big as possible.
I trim under the skirt, anything without light get pulled.
But pretty wild basically.

I fill the pot with roots, fungi and microbes.
Big plants are what I get.
Lots of bugs everywhere.

Interesting approach @Azimuth - I haven’t tried it that way. I might argue that the flip side of your argument is that the ones that come up instead of down get all the light and develop more quickly. Yes, they can take dominance, but that’s what pulling them horizontal to fill in gaps is for. Just another perspective for you.

Of course, having a badass gigantic state of the art greenhouse doesn’t hurt either……

Here’s one for you Sensei - now that you’ve used it and it’s “done,” is there anything you would do differently if you had a do over?

Given my space constraints I have to thin anyway and even the lateral branches will end up being too thick if I just let them all grow. And doing it the way I do gives me a better chance on all the growth being about equal all the way around.

Hello everyone, I'm here with another Mimosa EVO update under @ViparSpectra KS5000. The light is running at 75% and the girls are going crazy under it and it's really good for them ;).

First up is the Mimosa in the airpot.
IMG_20230426_135733.jpg
IMG_20230426_135743.jpg

The second in line is in the larger SIP.

IMG_20230426_135837.jpg
IMG_20230426_135849.jpg

Third in line is the smaller SIP.

Here's a shot of the KS5000 and the Mimosa.

And now I would like your advice on how to continue training them or how to continue training with them or just let them grow to a punk or I can use a scrog net. Share @Jon, @Bill284, @HashFart, @Azimuth, @StoneOtter. Thanks everyone for stopping by. :Namaste:

Good morning my friend. :ciao:
Your garden looks wonderful this morning. :welldone:
You have done a great job so far.
Strictly for volume scrog will be your best bet.
Your level and at the perfect stage. Imo, I'm not a scrog guy though. :Namaste:
Other options.
Top and keep vegging.
Takes longer but you get more top colas.
Lst.
My preference.
Reduces veg time and opens up the girls getting more light everywhere.
Increasing harvest volume.
Your good to go anyway you want at this point.
When were you planning to flip?
