Rider's first foray into LED strip lighting: Samsung H Series GEN3

Yes. Each of my fixtures is intended to cover a 1x4 space, so with the F Series strips I'll run two by two on 8" centers with the reds arrayed down the middle. I'm going to add some reds to each CXB3590 assembly also. Not using those H series lights to grow with since they're 5000K. Might make good veg lights but I'm going to stick with the 600W MH in the veg tent.
Of course, all of this planning is predicated on getting some fricking seeds to germinate! LOL
I'm about ready to give up on the Mutt. It's a dog.

All dressed up and nothing to grow.
I spread things out so I won't need a trained spider monkey to reach the back plants. .

Stop, your breaking my fragile heart :(

Not anything to do with king plus, it's that plants need different spectrums.
White light is typically full spectrum. That's why they are white instead of purple. Red And far red promotes blooming/ flowering. Depending on the spectral output of the light supplemental red or blue lights are unnecessary.

Looks like a nice setup. Would be neat to make a giant ceiling sized panel on a pulley lol. Hope it works well... Been watching lots of white light grows lately and it's why Ive been slowly switching and constantly mentioning those qb120's lol. Definitely enjoying it and hell I keep it 3-4" away from my flowering plants with no issues. Hoping they release a 2700K Id like to have a mix of 2700k and 3000k in qb120 and hopefully add some 3500k cobs down the road (maybe when a mars 300 panel breaks or maybe sooner who knows)

It's been pretty popular to add UV with these type of lights do you plan on adding any?

Ir uv and lately I've been hearing something about green. I think I'll Google it.
Yea you are correct UVB promotes tric development. And there is plenty that is absorbed in the IR, But it's also absorbed at other wavelengths.

Leaves are green which means thwy absorb all wavelengths but green. Again they are able to absorb it but not as efficiently as other wavelengths

Sorry friend, graphs charts and instructions have very little meaning to me, I grow by sight, I have a decent grasp of what it takes to grow a killer root system, a basic understanding of ph, and I watch the leaves... And I blast the shit out of it with LED at 2 inches away.

I meant no offence. The graph just shows what you were saying about red and blue light. Those colors correspond with the peaks on the graph that's all .

Have an awesome weekend ✌

I made the command decision to keep the coverage uniform rather than make room for the far red LEDs. It’ll all work out in the end.

edit: I lied. They're not the 44" FB24B strips. For future flexibility I went with 22" F564Bs combined to make a FB24B, with enough room between them to cut the aluminum channel in half.

Those Samsung strips will never be as blatantly sexy as Cree 3590s with big heat sinks. Kinda like a $25 hooker vs a $400/hr escort who brings her own blow. But they both get the job done! :)

The whole UVB and deep/far red are just la saveur du jour of the YouTube guys looking to milk every possible gram/watt out of their grows and keep their channels cutting edge. I can see the argument for the reds as triggers for the daily sleep/wake cycle, but I'm going to stay away from the UVB. I've single-handedly put one of my dermatologist's kids through college already.

I love your little analogies etc... I would bet everything I have your a funny fucker when your high, which is most likely all of the time.

I don't smoke! LOL. My go-to for winding down at the end of the day is a couple Cap't Morgan and cokes. I grow because I can do it legally and I enjoy the challenge. and have a brother with a rare blood cancer that needs it as medication.

Good on you brother good looking out, many good blessings to you for doing that. I can tell you from personal experience, when dealing with cancer, you want to be very aggressive in the way you medicate. You want to hit it from every angle, editables, vaporizer, raw cannabis, several strains, several temperatures etc everything you can tolerate, ask the time..

When I awoke today I had the most startling epiphany; I am an idiot. Truly. I just thought I'd point that out before someone else does.

If the goal is 35-50 led watts per square foot, why did I just build a light fixture that's capable of 500W to cover only a 1x4 space? 125W per square foot? Really? I've got to slow down and get my freaking head in the game.
