What's The Tightest Space You've Ran A HPS In!?

I'm currently growing an LED garden but the HPS gardens have caught my eye.

What's a good size for a 150w?
What's a good size for a 200w?
What's a good size for a 400w?
What's a good size for a 500w?
What's a good size for a 1000w?

Starting a fire isn't in the plan!

I got a 40" by 40" inch tent. I usually run duel lighting during flower. 600w HPS 300w MH. But a lot depends on your exhaust and the ambient temp of the room your growing in.

It's all about controlling the heat, and how much yield you want from a given space. With a properly vented air cooled reflector you can pack a 1000W HPS in a 3x3 grow box. Personally I use a 1000W per 3x4 space, I get about 50 grams square foot depending on strain and quantity of plants. What you have to ask yourself is how much canopy space do I want, how much yield do I want to get from that space within reason, can I cool the HID lights, and how much power you want to use, and from there size your lights.

My tent is small, 2ft x 2ft and I got through last season with a single 150w HPS with very good results. This year I plan on doubling the light with a second 150w HPS to see what effect it has on yield.

I did well when I started on here, just running a 400hps in this little alcove in my kitchen!

400hps is ideal for a space that size.
